00:16 A child hit by a car travelling at 20 miles an hour is 95% likely to survive that.
00:22 At 30 miles an hour it's about a 50% chance of survival.
00:27 It was mainly introduced because of concerns raised by villagers and a petition sent in
00:31 to the Joint Transport Board.
00:33 And then KCC looked at the statistics and decided on safety grounds and also with trying
00:39 to reduce or improve air quality within the high street of Newington that they introduced
00:44 the 20 mile an hour zone sometime last year I believe.
00:48 And the aim is just purely to try and reduce accidents and make it safer for people walking
00:53 through and pedestrian use of the village.
