00:00 Hello and welcome to another episode of Shop Essence Live
00:04 in partnership with New Voices Family.
00:07 Today we have a super special episode for you guys
00:10 'cause this is brought to you by the Next Black Millionaire
00:14 that is powered by Shea Moisture.
00:17 Now this is a really, really special program.
00:19 Next Black Millionaires fund equips three
00:23 black entrepreneurs with mentorship,
00:25 timely advice and a grant for $100,000
00:30 for them to help scale their business
00:32 and achieve their dreams.
00:33 Today we're gonna be joined by all three winners.
00:36 I want you guys to welcome Neil Hudson of Scotch Boys.
00:40 We got Dori Morris of Undefined Beauty.
00:43 What's going on?
00:44 Latoya Serup of Cosmology.
00:47 Hey y'all.
00:48 - Hey Noni, hey. - I'm so happy
00:51 to have you guys. - Hello.
00:53 - This feels so full circle. - Hi.
00:54 - You guys are Shop Essence Live alum.
00:57 So we have shopped with you guys before.
00:59 We have seen you guys scale.
01:01 We have seen you guys go from being on Shop Essence Live
01:04 and some of you are in Target.
01:06 All of you are in Target actually
01:07 which we're gonna get to in a little bit.
01:09 First I want you guys to just introduce yourselves
01:12 to the Pinterest TV audience
01:14 and let us know what sets you guys,
01:17 your products apart from what is in the market.
01:21 Latoya, I'm gonna start with you.
01:23 Take it away.
01:24 - Absolutely.
01:25 So hello Essence family.
01:27 I'm Latoya Serup, co-founder of Cosmology
01:30 and it's a company that I started with my two sisters
01:33 to create innovative hair tools and accessories
01:35 for textured hair.
01:37 So what sets us apart is that
01:39 with our Curls Plus Detanglers,
01:41 we design our hair tools to be sturdy,
01:44 multifunctional and then they also feature teeth
01:47 that mimic your fingers.
01:48 So you get that gentle, easy detangling experience
01:51 with our hair tools because we designed them
01:53 for textured hair.
01:55 - Come on.
01:56 I mean she does sound like she has done this before y'all.
02:00 Can I just tell you I have this,
02:02 everybody in my house uses Cosmology combs and pick products.
02:07 We have all different kinds of textures in my house.
02:10 My five year old has very, very curly hair
02:13 and it's hard detangling in these streets y'all
02:16 and Latoya has taken care of us
02:18 so I can personally vouch for it.
02:21 So up next, Dorian Morris, Undefined Beauty.
02:24 - Hello, hello Essence family.
02:27 My name is Dorian.
02:28 I'm the founder and CEO of Undefined Beauty
02:31 which is clean, conscious, inclusive plant magic.
02:34 My mission is to democratize beauty
02:36 and demystify amazing plant based solutions
02:39 but with a fun unapologetic approach.
02:42 So four core pillars, clean, clinical,
02:44 meaning I take ancient plant wisdom
02:46 and I pair with clinically proven active
02:48 so you're not compromising on performance.
02:50 Conscious, conscious capitalism is one of my core pillars
02:53 which means across my entire supply chain.
02:56 I partner with female founded minority owned LGBTQ
02:58 and small business because business empowers business.
03:01 Inclusive, all of my products as you see behind me,
03:04 they have diverse illustrations
03:05 that tie back to the ingredient story or the end benefit.
03:09 And plant magic, everything's about the amazing plant wisdom
03:12 and bringing that to the forefront
03:14 so we can look and feel our best.
03:15 - Oh, so good.
03:18 All right, so Undefined Beauty as well.
03:21 Heavy in my bathroom like this.
03:24 The R&R Day Serum Dorian is like completely gone
03:27 'cause I used it a lot.
03:29 And when I tell you this product right here
03:32 is such a game changer.
03:34 Black girls, we know about the struggle
03:35 of putting on sunscreen and it making us look ashy.
03:39 But Dorian was like, uh-uh, no.
03:41 This R&R Day Sun Serum is incredible
03:45 and she has a ton of products that's available.
03:48 You'll see them pinned to this broadcast right here
03:50 so you can shop right here or you can go to Target.
03:53 We'll talk about that in a little bit
03:55 but they're also featured in Target
03:57 for a very, very special, special display that they have.
04:00 So last but not least, Neil of Scotch Boys, come on in.
04:05 Tell us about your business
04:07 and what sets your products apart.
04:08 - Hi, hi Noni, great to see you again.
04:12 Hey Latoya and Dorian.
04:14 So I'm Neil Hudson.
04:15 I'm one of the four co-founders of Scotch Boys.
04:18 Based in Atlanta, Scotch Boys is a sauce
04:20 and seasonings brand.
04:22 We're buying the freshest ingredients
04:24 from over 200 small farmers in Jamaica,
04:27 making sure that we're bringing the authentic flavors
04:29 of Jamaica to you being in Target.
04:33 What makes Scotch Boys special?
04:35 It's our friendship, it's our heritage
04:37 and it's our unique flavor
04:38 that really captures the essence of the Caribbean
04:40 and bringing it to a doorstep near you.
04:42 - So good.
04:45 Now, first of all, these have me feeling like
04:48 I can really, really cook authentic Jamaican cuisine.
04:51 Neil has taken care of us and his partners have taken care.
04:54 What's up Drew, what's up all the other partners?
04:57 This is just so, I am from Queens, New York
05:01 and we are very, very picky
05:04 when it comes to having authentic Jamaican cuisine.
05:07 Sometimes you go to a restaurant
05:08 and it says it's jerk chicken,
05:09 but the jerk is just not jerking for some reason.
05:12 Neil has his little jerk chicken at home,
05:15 which is incredible.
05:16 And I also don't wanna skip over, Neil,
05:18 a really important feature that your products have.
05:22 When you buy these, you are contributing to farmers
05:25 in your homeland, which is Jamaica,
05:27 which is really, really incredible.
05:29 Can you say a little bit about that as well?
05:32 - Sure, so everything that goes into the Scotch Boys bottle
05:35 is sourced from Jamaican farmers,
05:37 everything besides the glass bottle.
05:39 So we're ensuring that we're paying a premium
05:41 for ingredients, not only peppers,
05:42 but the onions, the allspice,
05:44 everything that goes into the bottle.
05:46 So we're helping the local community.
05:48 So not only are we supporting the farmers directly
05:50 by paying a premium for our ingredients,
05:53 the profits that we're making,
05:54 we're giving back to a few local schools in Jamaica.
05:57 So I hope you've watched
05:59 the Roku Next Black Millennial series now,
06:02 but one of the schools is prominently highlighted,
06:05 our St. Paul's Primary,
06:07 where we've helped them with construction projects
06:09 and we've done donations there.
06:11 And another school that we support
06:12 is the South of our primary,
06:14 where during the pandemic, we bought tablets
06:15 and we're still continuing to support them to this day.
06:19 So we wanna make sure that we're bringing you
06:21 from farm to bottle,
06:23 but every purchase from the bottle
06:25 goes right back to the farmers who support us
06:27 and who make these flavors and this product possible.
06:31 - So good.
06:33 So Neil, that is perfect
06:35 because we have to talk about Shea Moisture's
06:37 The Next Black Millionaires.
06:39 Now, this is a really incredible program, you guys.
06:42 We're getting a peek behind the curtain
06:44 of what it is like for real, for real,
06:47 to be an entrepreneur.
06:48 You can see it for free right now on Roku,
06:50 and that's what I really wanna dive into.
06:53 Can you each tell us what it was like
06:55 when you found out that you were selected
06:57 to be a part of this incredible program?
07:00 Latoya, I'll start with you.
07:01 - Absolutely.
07:03 When we found out that we were selected
07:06 to be a part of The Next Black Millionaires program
07:09 by Shea Moisture, I was elated.
07:12 (laughs)
07:13 Because as a fellow haircare brand,
07:16 I mean, it just doesn't get any better than that.
07:18 To be able to go under the tutelage
07:20 of the team at Shea Moisture,
07:21 connected to Unilever, and the minds of Rich and Cara,
07:25 I mean, these are people who have lived
07:28 in the space that we're growing in.
07:30 So the mentorship alone, I was like, I'm sold.
07:33 I'm so excited.
07:34 It was a dream come true, literally.
07:37 - So good.
07:38 And it's so well-produced.
07:40 Shout out to the team that put it together.
07:42 Like, you're really, I think now the job
07:47 of an entrepreneur is very romanticized.
07:49 Like, we think of it, we see it on Instagram,
07:52 and we think of it like, oh, I can make my own hours
07:54 and be driving a Maybach or something like that.
07:58 And it's just like, you really see the sweat equity
08:00 that you all put into your businesses
08:03 and what it's like to balance that in your life.
08:06 Dorian, can you talk a little bit about your experience
08:08 of when you found out and what it was like
08:10 being a part of the program?
08:12 - Yeah, so when I found out,
08:13 I was to the same point that Latoya made, super excited,
08:17 really for the level of resources
08:20 they were bringing to the table, the mentorship,
08:22 also just the relationship building with Latoya and Neil.
08:25 I feel like we started off as strangers
08:27 and through the whole program, I look at them as family.
08:30 So that's also been, I think,
08:31 in a really important piece of this,
08:33 'cause I'm a strong believer that iron sharpens iron.
08:36 And so we're constantly uplifting and helping each other
08:39 kind of win within this crazy space
08:41 that we're all playing in.
08:43 - So good, Neil, how about you?
08:46 - So, when I did the application, I made it,
08:50 it was three rounds and I made it to the final round
08:53 and we were supposed to hear by sometime in March.
08:58 So I was refreshing my email,
09:01 checking my spam folder several times a day, every day.
09:05 So on the last day of March,
09:07 when I didn't see anything at five o'clock,
09:10 I called the team and I said, "Guys, that's it.
09:12 In spite of our best efforts, I guess we didn't win."
09:15 And actually we had to do a background check before,
09:20 and I said, "Hey, maybe one of these guys,
09:23 one of the guys stole a stop sign once."
09:25 I was like, "Oh my God, they caught that on camera.
09:26 So maybe they found that out, so it's why we didn't win."
09:29 But when I found out we won, I was thrilled.
09:30 The email came in at 6.02 PM.
09:33 I called the guys, I thought I was pranking them.
09:35 I was like, "Oh my God, we're so lucky.
09:37 We're so lucky to be a part of this program."
09:40 Even during the application, I said then,
09:42 and I'll say it again,
09:43 I want Scotch Boys to be the Shea Moisture of sauce.
09:46 I want people to think of hot sauce.
09:48 (laughs)
09:50 I want people to think of hot sauce.
09:51 The first thing they think of is Scotch Boys
09:54 and Shea Moisture has given us that platform.
09:57 And even, and it's just unbelievable access.
10:01 And I'll share with you not only that,
10:05 but I don't know if I was iron before I got here,
10:07 but thanks to Dorian, thanks to Latoya, thanks to Kara,
10:10 everyone at New Voices, Marie,
10:12 I have absolutely become sharper
10:14 and it's been an unbelievable experience so far.
10:18 And I'm so thrilled to be a part of this family.
10:21 - I love that.
10:22 And I always love seeing just the community
10:25 and the camaraderie amongst entrepreneurs,
10:28 especially in the New Voices family.
10:30 Barry, bring everybody in so I can talk to everybody.
10:32 Thank you.
10:34 So speaking of New Voices,
10:37 you guys are all a part of the New Voices family.
10:40 So you all down at Essence Festival,
10:43 killing it in the game.
10:44 And then you were our first guest
10:46 when we relaunched with New Voices.
10:48 Can you speak a little bit about that community
10:51 and what it's been like being a part
10:53 of New Voices family, Latoya?
10:57 - Oh my goodness.
10:57 When I tell you the New Voices family takes care of family,
11:03 just the accessibility to resources.
11:06 We could email Marie, Richelena with a question
11:09 and then they come back to us immediately
11:11 with answers and or people that we can tap into
11:14 to get help and assistance.
11:16 And they want to see us win.
11:18 And it's the support, it's the love,
11:20 it's the care that they pour into us.
11:22 And you know, it comes from a genuine place
11:24 because they do it with the sweat
11:26 and the same like intensity that we're going about
11:29 building our brands,
11:30 they get it right back to us through support and resources.
11:33 - Oh, I love, love, love that.
11:35 Dorian, how's it been for you?
11:38 - Yeah, I mean, they've been amazing.
11:39 Again, they're like family to me now as well.
11:42 I think what makes their platform so powerful
11:46 is that they've been in our shoes.
11:48 So they've actually been through this before.
11:50 And so we're really getting all of that wisdom,
11:52 that like institutionalized knowledge
11:55 and know-how that they're imparting to us.
11:57 So I think that's been extremely valuable.
12:00 - So good, Neil?
12:02 - So when you look at the long arc of history,
12:06 I think you'd say, I think like us as black people,
12:09 we're somewhat new to commerce
12:11 and everyone in the New Voices family
12:15 is taking us under their wing.
12:17 Marie is exceptional, Richelena has offered me advice.
12:20 I'll tell you again, a couple of Fridays ago,
12:24 Richelew Dennis himself called me,
12:26 just asked me, how's the program?
12:28 How's the Target NCAPS going?
12:30 And I was like, hey, I guess this is how
12:32 I'm spending my Friday afternoons.
12:34 One of the richest people in America
12:35 is giving me a phone call.
12:37 I absolutely, absolutely love it.
12:39 When I walk into stores and I see other brands
12:42 that are in the New Voices family,
12:44 I can't believe that I've not only met them,
12:47 but I could say that I know them.
12:49 So it's a great experience.
12:51 And what I love about it is that they have a mandate
12:54 that we should all share that knowledge
12:56 and actually work together
12:58 to ensure that we're all successful.
13:00 So it's been a thrilling experience.
13:03 And what I want to take from this is paid for as well.
13:05 So I guess getting a little additional exposure,
13:08 a lot of people have been calling me
13:10 at different stages of their journey.
13:12 And I'm just happy to give them,
13:14 to be a conduit for the information
13:16 that was given to me by New Voices,
13:18 I'm in turn passing it on.
13:19 So I love everything about New Voices family.
13:22 - This is so good.
13:24 And then you mentioned just having that,
13:27 not everybody has a direct line to Rich Lou Dennis
13:31 or somebody like that.
13:32 So being a part of the Shea Moisture,
13:35 Next Black Millionaires, as well as New Voices,
13:38 all of these incredible programs
13:40 that are available to black entrepreneurs,
13:42 it is just priceless.
13:43 And I was watching on Roku,
13:45 which is free and available for you guys to watch right now.
13:48 And one of the things I love that Rich was talking about
13:52 is what you said, Neil, is paying it forward.
13:54 Once you make it,
13:56 and then that money goes back to the fund
13:58 and then being able to,
13:59 maybe it's not three entrepreneurs,
14:01 maybe it's seven the next time
14:02 because of what you guys were able to achieve
14:05 was so, so impactful.
14:07 Can you guys talk about throughout this program,
14:10 which if you watch,
14:11 you guys are basically getting the advice.
14:13 If you're an entrepreneur and you're at home,
14:15 no matter where you are in your business,
14:18 this is, you have to watch this program
14:20 because you're literally going through the mentorship
14:23 with these great entrepreneurs
14:25 and learning what they're learning along the way.
14:27 Can you guys each talk about the best piece of advice
14:31 that you got while going through the program, Latoya?
14:34 - Yes, no.
14:36 So throughout the whole program,
14:38 I mean, you just have a six second conversation with Rich
14:41 and he's dropping gems.
14:43 But one of the things that really played well for us,
14:47 and there was a commonality between the three of us
14:50 was around the concept of focus.
14:52 Because a lot of times as entrepreneurs
14:55 and indie brands, right,
14:56 we're trying to like solve for
14:57 and service a lot of different needs.
14:59 You have buyers who are like, where's your newness?
15:02 You have customers that are like, where's your newness?
15:04 What's your next thing?
15:05 What are you doing?
15:06 Where's the innovation?
15:07 And we sometimes feel like we have to fill these gaps
15:10 all at once.
15:11 But one of the things, especially for us,
15:13 Rich was like, you need to focus.
15:15 You need to really own your space
15:17 and then begin to branch out.
15:19 How can you go really deep before you go wide?
15:22 And that was really key
15:23 because as indie founders, our pockets are limited, right?
15:28 Our resources are limited.
15:29 So how can we really deliver the most impact
15:32 in the most efficient way?
15:34 And that's through focus.
15:35 So that was a really good sort of thought for us
15:38 to take back and to take it to the team.
15:41 - That's so good.
15:42 And every time I hear any kind of advice
15:44 towards entrepreneurship,
15:47 it's always advice you can apply to anything, right?
15:49 No matter if you're an entrepreneur or not,
15:51 like we all, our lives are just so multifaceted.
15:55 We don't know where to put our energy at first.
15:58 So I think that that's a really, really solid advice.
16:02 Dorian, what would you say
16:03 your favorite piece of advice is?
16:05 - Well, I feel like Latoya stole mine.
16:07 It was also focus.
16:08 Because I am a product junkie.
16:10 Like I live and breathe ingredients and products.
16:13 And I'm always like in my kitchen,
16:15 ideating on how I can solve, you know,
16:17 pinch points within my community,
16:19 but do that with a plant forward approach.
16:21 And so, yeah, a lot of Rich's advice was around focus.
16:25 Don't try and boil the ocean
16:30 and really tackle each individual challenge at a time.
16:35 'Cause I feel like as entrepreneurs,
16:37 like we have all these balls up in the air
16:39 at any given moment.
16:40 And so really thinking strategically about your time,
16:44 boundaries, prioritization are really important.
16:47 And then through this journey for me,
16:50 which is a little bit different than Latoya and Neil,
16:52 I'm a solo founder and I don't have a team.
16:54 So a big piece of my journey
16:55 that was shown through Next Black Millionaire
16:57 is the struggles of how do you onboard people?
17:01 How do you fire people?
17:02 How do you think strategically about building out a team?
17:06 'Cause I've been in business for almost five years.
17:08 And so I've been doing this myself for five years,
17:10 which is insane.
17:12 - I was watching that, I was like, Dorian, how?
17:17 - Yeah, I like to say I'm a robot, I guess.
17:19 But one learning for me is that
17:20 if I'm giving too much to the business,
17:23 what does that sacrifice mean for me personally,
17:25 Dorian, as a person?
17:27 So that's been a big piece of, I think,
17:29 what this initiative or program,
17:32 whatever you wanna call it,
17:33 it's really given me that pause to say,
17:36 hey, I could be building something magical,
17:38 but if I'm sacrificing myself,
17:42 is it really as magical as I think it is?
17:43 And so it's given me a lot of pause
17:46 and a lot of time to reflection about how to build smartly
17:49 and really building balance into the equation.
17:53 Yeah. - That is.
17:54 Woo, gems being dropped, as usual on Shop Essence Live.
17:59 Neil, go into you for your favorite piece of advice
18:01 that you got during the program.
18:03 - So one of the things that really stood out to me
18:07 from the program was actually said by Pinky Cole.
18:10 She said that in order to grow her business,
18:12 she had to step outside of the business.
18:15 And the day that the 2000 cases of sauce
18:20 got to Target for a first run,
18:22 who's standing in the warehouse?
18:24 Me.
18:25 We had another order that we're sending off
18:26 to another retailer,
18:28 and there I am making sure
18:29 that they're labeling it properly.
18:30 And some days I just get bogged down in email,
18:33 but I don't think that is a true value add.
18:35 That doesn't grow the business.
18:36 I want to be more visible working on partnerships,
18:39 stepping outside from behind the computer,
18:41 I mean, the face of the business.
18:43 But luckily I've always said this.
18:45 I've said it before, I'll say it again.
18:46 I have a great team.
18:47 I wouldn't be here without the contributions of Drew,
18:51 who's my right-hand partner, Matthew and Kemar.
18:55 They were all instrumental in helping me get to this stage.
18:58 But what also came out in the documentary
19:02 is we do need a team.
19:03 So what got us here won't get us to the next step.
19:06 So we're conscious of that,
19:07 and we're working towards achieving our goals
19:10 of really scaling Scotch Boys within our given abilities,
19:15 but also being cognizant of our limitations
19:18 and where we might need to actually hire
19:20 to get Scotch Boys to the next level.
19:22 - Oh, this is so, so good.
19:24 If you guys are just tuning in,
19:26 this is Shop Essence Live
19:27 in partnership with New Voices Family.
19:29 This is a very special episode
19:31 brought to you by the next black millionaire
19:34 that is prior, next black millionaires,
19:36 'cause we got three on here,
19:38 that is powered by Shea Moisture.
19:40 This program, it is so incredible.
19:43 Available right now for free on Roku.
19:46 If you are an entrepreneur,
19:48 it is a really, really important program
19:50 for you guys to watch.
19:52 You get tons of gems from it.
19:54 There is also like reality tea,
19:57 like watching you guys' lives.
19:58 I still have to finish it,
20:00 but we're in the middle of Dorian
20:02 trying to find somebody to hire
20:04 that cares about her business as much as she does.
20:06 We're in the middle of a pepper shortage
20:09 for the Scotch Boys in Jamaica.
20:11 Like they gotta fulfill those skills.
20:13 And then Cosmology, some big company
20:15 is trying to steal their brush, their comb.
20:17 Like what's going on?
20:18 This is a lot going on, y'all.
20:20 So make sure that you go and watch.
20:23 It is available right, right now.
20:25 It is really, really, really good.
20:26 Put it all while you're detangling your hair for wash day,
20:30 or you're making some Scotch Boys like jerk chicken,
20:33 or you're doing your beauty routine
20:35 with Undefined Beauty, okay?
20:37 'Cause it is really, really good.
20:38 So that's kind of it,
20:42 but I think we have a little bit of time.
20:44 What I love to do, and I do need to plug,
20:48 you can get this at Target.com,
20:49 that all the products are pinned here.
20:51 But if you wanna go, if you're like me
20:53 and you love like a trip to Target,
20:55 Target is my happy place, is what I always say.
20:57 I always spend more money than I plan to.
21:00 But they have a display at Target.
21:02 It is in the beauty section.
21:05 And Neil, we gotta talk about the hot sauce
21:06 being so hot that it's in the beauty section.
21:09 I'd love to know from you, Neil,
21:11 what has the reaction been like for Scotch Boys
21:14 with their hot sauce in the beauty aisle?
21:17 What's going on?
21:18 (laughing)
21:18 - Well, Scotch Boys is named from the Scotch bonnet pepper.
21:23 So someone made a comment,
21:25 maybe they saw bonnet and got confused,
21:27 which is why they put it there.
21:29 - Oh. (laughing)
21:32 - But it's intentional.
21:33 Again, getting into retail in and of itself
21:37 is a major hurdle.
21:38 And then we are all within our specific areas.
21:42 So we are disparate businesses in different sections,
21:45 but they put us all together
21:47 because we're all winners of the next Bat Millennial program.
21:49 So being in the beauty aisle is intentional
21:51 because I'm the ugly one,
21:53 and Dorian and Latoya already have products
21:56 that sit well there.
21:58 - They're making things ugly, what are you talking about?
21:59 (laughing)
22:00 - Right.
22:02 It's a cross-merchandise end cap.
22:05 So it's intentional, it's designed to give us exposure.
22:08 Those comments weren't lost upon me,
22:10 but I think when people understand why it's there,
22:12 then I think they get it.
22:14 And the support actually has been good,
22:17 not only from an awareness standpoint,
22:19 but sales have been good so far.
22:22 And our ask is support the program, support the end caps,
22:27 show Target that this program was worth its while,
22:29 show Roku that this program
22:33 can highlight Black entrepreneurship
22:34 so that it can be a next Black Millennial,
22:36 volume two and volume three for additional cohorts.
22:39 So it's been great exposure.
22:42 And not only do we make good chicken,
22:45 while you're getting some Undefined and some Cosmology,
22:49 get some hot pepper sauce, you can make a Bloody Mary.
22:53 - Come on, listen, come on, that is so great.
22:56 And you made such an important point.
22:58 It is so important for us to support programs like this.
23:02 It is so important for us to buy products like this,
23:05 because then you do show big corporations
23:08 that number one, the Black audience,
23:10 we want these products, we need these products,
23:13 but then for Black entrepreneurs,
23:14 they have viable businesses that can scale massively.
23:17 I wanna highlight these beautiful,
23:19 look at these beautiful photos.
23:21 So when you guys go to Target
23:25 and see these beautiful displays
23:28 with their beautiful photos,
23:29 you can see who's behind the brands.
23:31 Make sure that you pick them up and you purchase them all.
23:35 I think we have a little bit of time.
23:36 Shop Essence Live is traditionally a shopping show.
23:40 So I'd love for you all to go through
23:42 just each of your products, just hold them up,
23:44 talk a little bit about them.
23:45 I'll pin them.
23:46 Neil, I'm gonna start with you.
23:47 And then just talk through your products.
23:49 Everybody at home, put them, save them, pin them up,
23:52 purchase them at target.com.
23:54 We'll put them up right here.
23:55 Neil, why don't you take it away
23:56 and just take us through all your products.
23:59 - So let me start.
24:01 Our flagship is the Scotch Bonnet Sauce,
24:03 but let me start with our Red Sauce.
24:05 So how I know that this is actually a good tasting sauce
24:08 is we were at Essence Fest a few weeks ago
24:11 and we had a booth.
24:12 Obviously Essence is in New Orleans, Louisiana.
24:14 They're the national connoisseurs of hot sauce.
24:19 And they said that they won't buy any other hot sauce,
24:24 that this beats everything that they've ever had.
24:27 So this is actually leading in the sales,
24:28 our hot pepper sauce.
24:29 It's made with West Indian red.
24:31 It's great to make buffalo wings.
24:33 It's our most versatile sauce.
24:36 As I said earlier, you can use it as a Bloody Mary.
24:38 Tried and true is jerk, that's a Jamaican staple.
24:41 I have some wings here in the air fryer.
24:43 Just baste a little bit on your wings,
24:45 or you can use it as a marinade
24:47 and it takes you straight to the islands.
24:50 And from where we get to our name, the Scotch Bonnet Sauce,
24:53 it's so named because the pepper was said to look like
24:57 a Scotsman bonnet or a Scotsman's hat.
25:00 This is our hottest sauce,
25:01 but it actually packs a very good flavor.
25:04 It's sweet with quite a bit of heat.
25:06 And add this to a barbecue sauce, have it on your own.
25:10 So these are the three that are available in Target.
25:12 And these are the three that you see
25:13 on the end caps as well.
25:17 - That is wild, Neil,
25:18 that the Scotch Bonnet Pepper Sauce is the hottest one.
25:22 It's my favorite and I am not a spicy lover,
25:25 but the Scotch Bonnet Pepper Sauce got me in a choke hold.
25:29 That is, that's something.
25:30 Okay, so Dorian, you're up next.
25:34 Just review, and you have some new products to debut.
25:38 - I do, I do.
25:39 - So why don't you let us know all the products.
25:41 - I'll go quickly.
25:42 So the products that you can find on the end cap,
25:44 it's in 600 stores, go support.
25:47 You'll find my cleanser.
25:48 It's a three-in-one, it cleanses, it tones.
25:50 You can also use it as a mask.
25:52 There is my Day Serum,
25:54 which is a brightening hyperpigmentation fighter.
25:57 It's got vitamin C, alpha-arbutin, kojic acid,
25:59 a lot of amazing tyrosinase inhibitors.
26:01 So great for fighting hyperpigmentation
26:03 and brightening your skin.
26:05 There is the Night Serum, which is a bakuchiol-based formula.
26:08 It is an oil and serum format.
26:10 So great for really nourishing
26:11 and repairing the skin overnight.
26:14 There is a gel cream moisturizer,
26:17 which is a super lightweight moisturizer.
26:19 It's infused with ceramides and peptides.
26:22 And my best-selling product is my Sun Serum.
26:26 It is a tinted mineral SPF 50, PA++++,
26:30 so the highest rating you can get on the UVA factor.
26:32 It is tinted.
26:33 It is meant to work across a broad range of skin tones.
26:37 Between us, it was built for the melanated skin.
26:40 But for those that maybe have lighter skin,
26:43 I have a lighter version
26:44 that's launching in a couple of weeks.
26:46 And for those with deeper skin, I also have a deeper version.
26:48 So stay tuned for that.
26:50 And the two new products that just launched on Target.com
26:53 are my Hydra Jelly,
26:55 which is a really fun face and eye serum.
26:58 It is a super, it's peptide-infused.
27:01 It's really great for hydrating the skin,
27:03 but also firming specifically under your eyes.
27:05 And then my newest product is Sun Creme.
27:09 This is a, basically a superfood smoothie for your skin.
27:13 It's an SPF 50, but it's a moisturizer.
27:15 So it kind of does three in one.
27:17 It gives you the reparative serum.
27:19 It's also your moisturizer and sun protection all in one.
27:22 And this one is untinted.
27:23 So it is kind of a really thick, juicy cream.
27:28 And it works across skin tones
27:31 to blend without a white cast.
27:36 And it's super hydrating.
27:38 So great for those that have dry skin.
27:40 To those of my friends.
27:42 - Did you guys see that magic?
27:45 Did y'all see the magic of the, that was,
27:48 that was incredible.
27:49 So thank you for that, Dorian.
27:51 And then last but not least,
27:53 Latoya of Cosmology, what you got?
27:55 - Yes.
27:57 So at the end cap,
28:00 you will see our signature Cobalt Blue hair tools
28:03 featuring our Curls Plus Pick, which is compact in size.
28:07 You see, it doesn't have the traditional handle like a pick.
28:09 So it's perfect for your purse, your book bag,
28:12 your baby bag, for all the moms.
28:14 And then it is just great to add volume without the frizz
28:18 because again, it features our wide,
28:20 thick conical shaped teeth.
28:22 So you get in there, give yourself some volume
28:25 and don't have to worry about fully disrupting your curls.
28:28 It also features our Curls Plus Comb
28:31 that has a sectioning tip on the end.
28:33 So you could section, part, and style the tangle
28:36 all with one hair tool.
28:37 We have a couple of different ways to grip it.
28:39 You could grip it at the top,
28:40 you can grip it right here.
28:42 Listen, we built it all into the tool.
28:45 And then our best seller is our Curls Plus Paddle Comb.
28:49 We call it a paddle comb
28:50 because it features teeth like a wide tooth comb,
28:53 but in the shape of a brush.
28:54 You can hold it right here.
28:56 This is a really good way to grip it.
28:57 It gives you good control.
28:59 You can get into that hair
29:00 without having to worry about the snagging and popping
29:03 that you get with other hair tools.
29:05 And it also features a sectioning tip on the end.
29:07 So again, you can section, part, and detangle and style
29:10 all with one hair tool.
29:12 And on Target.com,
29:14 you will see our hair tools in the same set,
29:18 but in our rose color, which is fantastic.
29:21 That's the set that Noni is gonna show you in a second.
29:23 And then we also launched our Hydra Mist Spray Bottle.
29:28 So for all of the DIY curlies,
29:30 you could do your own hydration mix at home.
29:33 Spritz and hydrate those curls
29:35 so you could look good for the summer.
29:37 And then we have our cleaner kit.
29:40 So instead of having to use your fingernails
29:42 to get in between your hair tools to keep them clean,
29:45 we got you covered.
29:46 It is a spray and wipe solution
29:49 so you could spray your hair tools.
29:50 We give you a nice little brush
29:52 so you get in between the teeth
29:54 to get all the product buildup out.
29:56 And then we also give you a fantastic
29:59 little microfiber towelette to dry off the hair tools
30:02 so you're not putting lint if you're using a paper towel.
30:05 So all of that is available on Target.com.
30:07 And of course, shop the end cap in over 600 Target stores
30:11 across the nation.
30:12 - Come on now.
30:14 First of all, I need you guys to understand
30:17 how life-changing these products are right here.
30:21 I have been using them since the first time
30:24 that I interviewed LaToya.
30:26 We know the struggle of having little curly head ones.
30:30 As soon as you try to reach for a different tool,
30:32 they start running.
30:33 And that's what happens in my house.
30:35 Now I don't have to reach for any different tool.
30:37 I can just use this comb brush.
30:40 And then if I need to section it,
30:42 this access, this is just...
30:45 And then I discovered, LaToya helped me discover,
30:47 I was picking my Afro completely wrong.
30:49 'Cause I was definitely trying to go all the way out.
30:51 But with this, you just go at the root
30:54 and you don't disturb the curls.
30:55 You keep the curl at the end, but you get the volume.
30:57 It's just incredible.
30:59 All right, Barry, you can bring everybody back.
31:02 This has been so great.
31:06 I'm so excited for all of you guys.
31:08 I want everybody watching right now.
31:11 We got a couple of things to do.
31:12 One, we have to go to Roku completely free.
31:15 Watch the next Black Millionaires powered by Shea Moisture.
31:20 And you either gotta go to target.com to purchase these,
31:23 or you can go to your favorite Target store in your town,
31:26 over 600 national stores, and check out the display.
31:30 Send us some pictures, take some pictures of you
31:33 in front of this beautiful display
31:35 and make sure that you are tagging all of us here.
31:38 Also, if you are an entrepreneur and you're watching this
31:41 and you're like, wow, I'd love to be where Dorian is.
31:44 I'd love to be where Latoya is.
31:45 I'd love to be where Neil is.
31:47 Make sure that you're following Shea Moisture.
31:49 They're about to open applications for season two.
31:52 So this could be you.
31:53 I could be talking to you next year, right?
31:56 You never know, it happens, guys.
31:58 You think that you're far away from it.
32:00 All you gotta do is bet on yourself, right?
32:02 At some point, everybody on here bet on themselves
32:05 and look at where they are nationwide
32:07 in all these Target stores, killing it.
32:10 I am so, so, so proud and excited for all of you guys.
32:14 Thank you so much for joining us on today's show.
32:17 Thank you everybody who watched us live.
32:19 Make sure that you're pinning these products
32:21 and follow all these incredible brands.
32:23 And then make sure you tune in weekly
32:25 right here on Shop Essence Live on Pinterest TV
32:28 at 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
32:30 I am Noni Donovan and I'll see you guys next week.
32:33 Bye y'all.
32:35 - Bye, thank you. - Bye.
32:36 - Bye everybody, thanks Noni.
32:39 - Thank you. - Thank you.
32:40 [BLANK_AUDIO]
