00:00 That was the heartbreaking reality of my first morning. Look out for the Macarena.
00:03 Are you scared that we're spooked and that's it?
00:05 No!
00:06 No!
00:06 [Laughter]
00:07 I don't think Nigel's going out of fashion, but I think after Saturday night...
00:10 What?
00:11 One percent of the UK got Nigel. I think after Saturday night...
00:15 It's been my mission since the early ages to change that.
00:19 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:20 I think he can do it after Saturday night.
00:22 After Saturday night, that hot Pasadena. I mean, guys, there might be some new Nigels on the way. I'm telling you.
00:28 New Nigels will be made on Saturday night.
00:31 And now you're called Nigel, well, Google, YouTube.
00:34 Jesus, don't worry.
00:36 Was it everything you wanted that to be on Saturday?
00:39 I didn't have any preconceived notions. I tried not to think about anything.
00:43 Just walk out, deliver this brilliant dance that Kat had choreographed,
00:48 and then it was only afterwards that I suddenly started to go,
00:51 "Oh, there's been quite a reaction to us sleeping about."
00:56 So, yeah, there was no sort of plan of what to get out of it at all.
01:01 And just how hard have you worked the first few weeks, or is he a pretty... Is he a natural?
01:06 He's a bit of both. He's got a good level of confidence, which is required, you know,
01:12 to go out there and do something like this completely out of your comfort zone.
01:17 But, no, I'm just so pleased that it went the way it did for you, because this is...
01:23 I keep saying it, but it's such a special moment that you will never, ever have again in your life.
01:29 This is it. And for it to have gone the way it did, I think it'll have a special place in your heart.
01:35 Yeah, it definitely will.
01:37 What did your family say? Did your phone just go wild in the dressing room?
01:41 My wife was watching, so that was all right. We were just laughing after.
01:45 She was like... She was whooping and cheering. She said, "I've lost my voice."
01:49 I phoned my daughter. She said, "You did really well, Dad. You look really great."
01:53 And then I spent two hours Sunday morning literally just reading messages from all my friends
01:59 who were just so proud of me, which makes me a little bit emotional talking about it.
02:05 And they were just like, "I can't believe you did that." And I'm like, "I can't believe she did that."
02:10 I even got home Saturday night, and I had a card through the letterbox from our neighbours
02:15 who'd watched the show and had written out the judges' comments and put glitter on it.
02:18 And these are fully grown adults. These aren't children. And they were like, "So, very good."
02:24 It's nice to know you make such impact on people's lives.
02:27 Yeah, well, the show does. The show makes it.
02:30 How does it compare? The lines, the learning? Is it similar?
02:34 No. Sadly not. That was the heartbreaking reality of my first morning.
02:40 Actually, I've been on an hour inter of first day of training camp, so basically nothing that I know has been helpful.
02:49 - Is of any use to you? - Yeah, at all. I was like, "Yeah, I'll just get used to it."
02:53 The thing is, we must have done some different techniques together so far.
02:55 So what do you think could be the best dance that we need to look forward to?
02:59 I think we've done it.
03:01 I think the Macarena. I'd look out for the Macarena.
03:05 - Macarena? - I think we're going to be very good at that.
03:07 - The Congo. The Congo. - Oh my god.
03:10 - The Congo. - Are you scared that we're speak and that's it?
03:14 - No. - I am.
03:17 Anyway, we're going to have to go back to work. How are you juggling that? Is it a lot?
03:21 I don't work. I left work. I left in August.
03:23 - You're not filming at all? - So I'm just doing strictly.
03:26 Oh, I'm sorry. I wouldn't have allowed it.
03:29 - You've got no excuse. - No.
03:31 - Here we go. - No, no excuse.
03:32 Have you had any texts from your mate being like, "Dark Horse, didn't know you could shoot?"
03:36 This has been mentioned a couple of times, yeah.
03:39 And "Fake Town" has been mentioned a lot.
03:42 My friends are very much enjoying the different shades I'm turning every weekend.
03:45 You're in trouble for a wedding now because people are going to expect you to take that dance floor as the owner.
03:50 That's true. I've never had a problem with that before.
03:53 It depends what times they start serving champagne and I'll be fine.
