00:00 It's a matter between Canada and India and Canada and India are both friends of ours.
00:06 We have excellent relations with Canada, excellent relations with India and we very much hope
00:11 that divergence between those two countries can be quickly resolved to satisfaction of
00:17 both of them.
00:18 India is a country that I have enormous respect and affection for.
00:21 I had the good fortune to live there for three and a half years.
00:23 India has the weight and the credibility to point up some of the major issues that need
00:31 changing.
00:32 I have seen India transforming in the context of the SDGs, also in the context of its capacity
00:39 to project itself internationally and to assume international leadership roles.
00:44 Well, firstly I'd like to say that India is a country that I have enormous respect and
00:49 affection for.
00:50 I had the good fortune to live there for three and a half years and so I have seen India
00:55 transforming.
00:56 I have seen India transforming in the context of the SDGs, also in the context of its capacity
01:04 to project itself internationally and to assume international leadership roles.
01:09 And that's something I think that is highly valuable at this time in which we're living.
01:14 It's a time of change, a time of transition, a time in which the old world order is being
01:21 seriously undermined because of its difficulty in responding to the challenges of current
01:28 times.
01:29 And India is, of course, emerging as a country of reference, not just for the so-called global
01:37 South.
01:38 I prefer the term plural South because of the heterogeneity of countries in the southern
01:42 hemisphere, not that India is in the southern hemisphere.
01:46 But also I think that India has the weight and the credibility to point up some of the
01:55 major issues that need changing, such as the international financial architecture or the
02:02 current Security Council, which is corresponding to a time that is no longer the present time.
02:07 I would like to just have a last small comment on Canada-India tensions, if you can talk
02:12 about that, the recent allegations put by the Canadian Prime Minister, which India has
02:17 already rejected.
02:18 So any comment on that, if you would like to give?
02:21 No, it's a matter between Canada and India, and Canada and India are both friends of ours.
02:27 We have excellent relations with Canada, excellent relations with India, and we very much hope
02:32 that divergence between those two countries can be quickly resolved to satisfaction of
02:38 both of them.
