00:00 Previously we were talking about infections mainly happening in women
00:04 however these two episodes we're going to talk about infections that happen in
00:09 prostate and how is that going to affect our sexual function, namely talking about
00:16 prostatitis
00:19 Prostatitis is one of those really big nuisance amongst men because it can
00:29 happen in any age but predominantly in younger men and there are many studies
00:34 that correlate prostatitis together with premature ejaculations. So how does that
00:41 work? In fact nobody knows. What we know is that there are multiple studies that
00:48 show that chronic prostatitis itself can actually induce the possibilities of
00:55 premature ejaculation. So let's deal with it first. What exactly is prostatitis?
01:02 There are essentially four categories of prostatitis. The first one is acute
01:08 prostatitis which is something that will cause bleeding and something is
01:12 significantly serious. However when the infection itself may be a bit long
01:20 ongoing up to six months or so, either with bacteria which is named as chronic
01:27 bacteria prostatitis or no bacteria which is chronic non-bacteria prostatitis
01:34 and two of these infections can actually induce premature ejaculation. In fact
01:42 nobody knows why but we know that when the premature ejaculation is resolving
01:48 and then the chronic prostatitis can actually resolve by itself or vice versa.
01:54 So many men actually may need to have the infection treated in order to
02:01 improve their sexual function to prolong the time of ejaculation and in fact some
02:08 study even suggested that with frequent ejaculation itself might have the
02:14 possibility of dampening that chronic inflammatory changes in the prostate and
02:19 subsequently solve the problem of chronic prostatitis together with the
02:25 issues of premature ejaculation. For following week we're going to talk about
02:30 the more serious version of prostatitis which is acute prostatitis. Acute
02:35 prostatitis itself can cause painful ejaculation, blood in ejaculation and
02:40 sometimes it itself can actually cause significant problems like abscess. Stay
02:45 tuned for next week's Putting Dr. G on the Spot
