Transcript
00:00 This is it. I've made it to Dr. Eggman's secret Metal Fighter lab.
00:05 I better be careful. Who knows what kind of sick and twisted things Eggman could be hiding.
00:11 Pew, pew, pew.
00:13 Heh heh, robot go.
00:15 In Sonic Superstars, you can clash against your friends and other players around the world in the brand new battle mode.
00:22 In this overview, I'll give you a quick summary of this unique mode, as well as some tips and tricks on how to dash past the competition.
00:29 You'll start off as a basic Metal Fighter, called a prototype, in which you can customize with several robot parts found in the shop.
00:36 The gold medals that you collect throughout Sonic Superstars can be used to purchase these parts, so keep an eye out for them.
00:43 You can also change the color and the pattern design of each part.
00:47 There are even parts that will make you look like iconic characters from the series, such as Metal Sonic and Metal Knuckles.
00:53 Keep in mind, some parts are unlocked as purchasable items in the shop by playing and completing the story mode.
01:00 In the battle mode menu, you can choose whether to play locally with computer players or four friends, or online,
01:07 where you will either be able to create a custom room, or join a public lobby with up to eight players.
01:14 Both offline and online contestants will be thrown into three rounds of random missions.
01:20 These range from a hazardous survival match, an electrifying battle, a fast-paced race to the finish, and even a star-filled collect-a-thon.
01:28 Depending on how well you place, you will earn a certain number of points at the end of each round.
01:33 And, of course, the player with the most points after three missions wins.
01:38 Under the player info section on the menu, you can check your current online ranking.
01:45 Keep participating in online battles to see your level increase all the way to the top.
01:50 Each of the Metal Fighters plays exactly like Sonic, with the spin dash and drop dash abilities at your disposal.
01:56 Keep that in mind in situations where going fast is key, especially during a race.
02:02 Also, break item monitors whenever you see them, as the items they provide can give you the advantage you need to win.
02:08 In some missions, you'll find a switch that can affect nearby objects, such as reversing the direction on a conveyor belt.
02:15 Using switches tactically can confuse your opponents and help you secure the victory.
02:20 Speaking of nearby objects, be sure not to jump into any bombs or dangerous things that may appear in stages.
02:26 Unless you want a broken bot buddy.
02:30 Oh, I'm so attached already.
02:34 The sheer game immersion is too much.
02:37 I... I am the Eggman!
02:41 To make your own Metal Fighter, be sure to check out Battle Mode when Sonic Superstars arrives on all major platforms on October 17th.
