01:32 The failure of peace and security systems, inadequate development and limited climate
01:38 action, amidst technological advancement and enormous wealth, has left us in a state of
01:46 paralysis, enduring one of the darkest periods of human existence.
01:54 We may all agree, without any fear of contradiction, that the world is headed in a most undesirable
02:01 direction.
02:03 It is moments like this that the affirmative spirit of multilateralism, international collective
02:10 action and global solidarity is most needed and should be attained.
02:18 This is not the occasion for any member of the United Nations to escape when they should
02:24 be rising to the challenge of the moment.
02:27 Resorting to pursuit of narrow, insular, anti-social agendas within exclusive clubs constituted
02:37 to maintain the status quo that undermines and cannibalises the United Nations systems
02:43 at the expense of progress in humanity's collective journey to the future over aspirations
02:50 is totally unacceptable.
02:54 The existence of this inimical clique of geopolitical formations defies the fundamental values and
03:02 principles of the UN system and its operations have led to alienation, mistrust, insecurity
03:11 and exclusion of and among peoples, nations, regions and continents.
03:19 Moments like now place the nature and purpose of multilateralism under sharp scrutiny for
03:25 history's honest examination and judgement.
03:31 If any confirmation was ever needed that the United Nations Security Council is dysfunctional,
03:38 undemocratic, non-inclusive, unrepresentative and therefore incapable of delivering meaningful
03:46 progress in our world as presently constituted, the rampant impunity of its actors on global
03:54 scene settles that matter.
