00:00 coming in these final episodes of Ahsoka, with ex-Jedi Balen Skull sensing something
00:04 calling to him on the magical graveyard of Pyridia.
00:09 Something calls to me.
00:10 Can't you hear it?
00:12 Something stirs here.
00:14 Can't you see it?
00:16 Something else stirs?
00:17 The whole point of traveling the pathway to Pyridia from the main Star Wars galaxy to
00:21 another one was to see what was stirring at the end of that path, and that something was
00:25 definitely Grand Admiral Thrawn and his terrifying legion of red banded stormtroopers along with
00:29 a trio of witches named after the fates of Greek mythology.
00:32 Honestly, we're good with that.
00:34 It's all creepy enough.
00:35 Halloween 2023, costumes for days.
00:37 But no, Balen Skull and Shin Hati seek a power that Thrawn cannot give them.
00:41 A power that even the Nightsisters seem to be getting the hell out of dodge from.
00:45 And in this video I'm going to break down what that could possibly be.
00:47 What the biggest power of the Star Wars universe actually is.
00:51 In summary, I think there are really three possible likely options from Star Wars lore
00:55 that it might be at this point in Star Wars history.
00:58 Hindu, the Gods of Mortis, or the Priestesses or Priestess from the Wellspring of Life.
01:04 All three of these come from Rebels and Clone Wars, and since I'm pretty sure two thirds
01:08 of you didn't actually watch those shows, and no shame by the way, that's what New
01:11 Rock Stars is for, I'm going to dig into all three of these options.
01:14 But if you are curious to learn more about Rebels in particular, we did a four part Rebels
01:18 recap series that sufficiently catches you up on the big stuff.
01:21 Okay, let's re-examine the transcript of what exactly Balen said in this episode.
01:25 When they approach Peridia, Balen recalls that the Jedi archives spoke of this place.
01:29 It was the end of the migration route used by the Star Whales as they traverse the void
01:33 from one galaxy to the other, and then he calls Peridia a graveyard.
01:36 Back in episode two, Balen suggested that the path to Peridia was a fairy tale legend
01:40 shared among the children in the Jedi Temple.
01:42 And now with Shin Hati, he goes full Shakespearean and says, "This is a land of dreams and madness.
01:49 Children's stories come to life."
01:50 He goes on, "Stories of this galaxy are considered folk tales.
01:55 Some ancient past, long forgotten."
01:58 And Balen begins to tease that the power Thrawn promises is just the latest in the cycle of
02:04 the Jedi versus the Empire, and that Balen is seeking something beyond that.
02:07 "That sort of power is fleeting.
02:09 What I seek is the beginning, so I may finally bring this cycle to an end."
02:15 Shin asks if that new beginning is here on Peridia, and Balen says, "If the old stories
02:19 are true."
02:20 Later in the episode, Balen goes into more detail about this deeper power when he talks
02:24 about his disillusionment from the Jedi Order.
02:26 "There was no future there."
02:28 "You clearly see one here, in this wasteland."
02:32 Balen answers that the Great Mother's being here indicates that the importance of Peridia
02:36 as a location in the former great witch kingdom of the Dathomiri.
02:39 But Shin says, "They seem eager to leave this place.
02:43 Maybe we should too."
02:44 "Perhaps they flee a power greater than their own.
02:48 Something calls to me."
02:49 "Can't you hear it?
02:51 Something stirs here.
02:53 Can't you see it?"
02:54 Okay, so that narrows down our possible suspects.
02:57 We are looking for 1) a power beyond the fleeting political/military strength of Thrawn, 2)
03:02 a power beyond the Jedi Order, 3) a power of the Nightsister's fear, and 4) a power
03:07 beyond the known galaxy of Star Wars, something that you would have to cross the void to access.
03:11 So we're not talking about Snoke or the First Order, as those are really on the political
03:15 scale that Balen is uninterested in Thrawn offering them.
03:18 And we're not talking about Palpatine or the Dark Side or the Sith Eternal, as those
03:21 are on the scale of the Jedi and the Nightsister's, just another class of force wielders who are
03:26 part of that same cycle, discoverable within the known galaxy.
03:29 Also we should note that Balen says "something stirs" and it just sounds like he senses
03:33 something animalistic in quality.
03:36 And while that could be loath wolves, Peridia already has a native canine species of howlers,
03:41 and I just don't think we would see howlers if there were also going to be loath wolves
03:44 on Peridia.
03:45 Also, there's a really cool fitness brand, Kinda Fit, Kinda Fat.
03:48 We are big fans of theirs, they're big fans of what we do at New Rockstars, they do a
03:52 lot of really fun, pop culture inspired fitness clothing, and we collaborated with them on
03:56 this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle shirt that I'm wearing.
03:59 Kinda Fit, Kinda Fat is for those who love fitness, food, and everything in between.
04:02 Their message is that "every body is worthy of being respected and deserving of equal
04:06 opportunities and representation.
04:08 Bodies from all walks of life, types, shapes, colors, and abilities should be celebrated."
04:12 Few pop culture icons put fitness and food together as well as the Ninja Turtles.
04:16 Like half their whole deal is that they love pizza.
04:19 Arguably more than half.
04:21 Kinda Fit, Kinda Fat's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle shirt is full of fitness and food easter
04:24 eggs from the Chowabunga branding on the pizza to the weight plate on the front of the van
04:29 to forks replacing Raf's thighs.
04:31 But you can only get this TMNT shirt at KindaFitKindaFat.com.
04:34 There's a limited supply, so grab one today.
04:36 And while you're there, check out all of their other cool products.
04:39 The link for the shirt is also in this video's description.
04:41 Also I think the likeliest suspect is Bindu.
04:44 What or who is Bindu?
04:45 Bindu is a large, mysterious, force-wielding creature that Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger
04:50 discover on the planet Atalon in Rebels Season 3.
04:52 He's voiced by Tom Baker, the fourth Doctor of Doctor Who, sharing that legacy with Hu
04:57 Yang voice actor David Tennant.
04:58 Bindu derives his name from George Lucas' original name for the Jedi, Jedi Bindu, and
05:03 that name was repurposed to the canonical precursors to the Jedi Order, the Dai Bindu.
05:07 Throughout Rebels Season 3, Bindu serves as a spiritual mentor to Kanan and Ezra, guiding
05:11 Kanan through his recent blindness from Maul in the Season 2 finale, and helping Ezra deal
05:15 with his mystical connection to Maul via that Sith holocron.
05:18 But Bindu is not purely on the light side of the Force.
05:21 As a practitioner of the Force, he's a true agnostic, and he's totally okay with Ezra
05:25 and Maul working together.
05:26 And in the Season 3 finale, when Kanan goes to him for help against Thrawn, he's initially
05:30 reluctant until Kanan insults his power, and then Bindu appears as a big ol' Mufasa face
05:35 in the storm clouds and fires lightning at Thrawn's ground forces and catches some Rebel
05:39 Y-Wings in that crossfire.
05:41 He doesn't care!
05:42 He's got some mad "Old Man, get off my lawn!" energy.
05:46 Thrawn blasts him to submission, but Bindu cryptically foretells Thrawn's fate with
05:50 the Purgle in the Season 4 finale before laughing and fading back into the Force.
06:00 So with Thrawn back in the series, Bailin seeking a mystical power beyond the Jedi and
06:05 the Sith, Bindu is just the perfect option.
06:07 Atalon is a similar wasteland planet like Peridia is, and the way those goofy Noti appear
06:11 as First as rocks is very similar to the way Bindu camouflages himself as First on Atalon.
06:17 Bailin uses the term "something stirs", it just kinda has the vibe of Bindu stirring.
06:21 And Tom Baker doing the voice just fits so well with Doctor Who David Tennant being the
06:25 storyteller of this episode who says the big line.
06:28 "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away."
06:34 It'd be one Doctor connecting to another!
06:36 Bindu's powers, we think, do come from a place beyond what the Nightsisters possess.
06:40 His name is Bendu, which has deep ties to the origins of the Jedi, though not specific
06:44 to the Jedi, and the Great Mothers hate the Jedi and regard them with a feral stink.
06:49 "It reeks of Jedi."
06:52 And I think the animal they're really smelling here could be Bindu.
06:56 But the second suspect are the Mortis Gods, whom I've talked about a lot in recent videos.
07:01 They come from the Clone Wars Season 3 arc, they're kind of the three gods, the Holy
07:05 Trinity of the Star Wars universe, they live in the realm of Mortis that Ahsoka, Obi-Wan,
07:09 and Anakin visit.
07:10 The Mortis Gods are designated as Star Wars Celestials, and they are believed to come
07:14 from another galaxy, and I would imagine they're more powerful than the Nightsisters are.
07:17 The daughter lives on in Ahsoka, and I like the interpretation that the father could live
07:21 on in Anakin's ghost.
07:22 So yes, we should include the Mortis Gods as possible suspects.
07:25 But let's talk about the Wellspring of Life Priestesses.
07:28 This comes up in Clone Wars Season 6, when the voice of Qui-Gon guides Yoda to the epicenter
07:32 of the cosmic force in this galaxy, the Wellspring of Life, where midichlorians are created.
07:37 Here Yoda encounters five priestesses who each represent a different emotion, serenity,
07:41 joy, anger, confusion, and sadness.
07:43 They put Yoda through a series of trials with his shadow self, and Yoda ends up in a kind
07:47 of conflict with Sidious and Dooku, and then sees the priestesses' true face.
07:51 When asked about this in a Q&A, Dave Filoni explained that his actual idea for the five
07:55 priestesses were that they were going to be one entity.
07:58 The way that I reconciled what that being is, is it's actually one being.
08:02 It's one ancient being separated over time that for our perception to be able to see
08:08 her, she is these many different iconic things presented to us.
08:13 But she died a long, long, long, long, long time ago.
08:15 She is conscious in the force, and she has a limited ability to manifest.
08:20 I am wondering if the way the Great Mothers all speak collectively with multiple voices
08:24 layered together could be connected to that concept.
08:27 Think about it.
08:28 The Witches of Dathomir, the Nightsisters, the Dathomiri could derive their sorcery and
08:32 their ancient lineage from being one dimension of those wellspring priestesses cast out from
08:37 the others, banished to a galaxy without midichlorians perhaps, a galaxy and a planet doomed to die
08:42 out and be a wasteland graveyard where purgo go to die.
08:46 So I leave the question to you.
08:48 Who or what is Balin hearing, and really, what do you think is the ultimate power of
08:52 the Star Wars universe?
08:53 Something that can give Balin a new beginning untethered to the light side versus dark side
08:57 wars of the past?
08:58 I think Bindu is the best option of the three, but I want to hear your thoughts.
