00:00 you're willing to kind of mold yourself around
00:02 whoever you are in love with.
00:07 Cindy Crawford looks back on her short-lived marriage
00:10 to Richard Gere.
00:11 The fashion icon makes the rare comments
00:13 more than 30 years after they tied the knot
00:17 in the newly released Apple TV+ docuseries,
00:20 The Supermodels.
00:22 I think I was 22 when we met,
00:24 and in the beginning of a relationship,
00:27 when you're a young woman, you're like,
00:28 "You like baseball?
00:30 I like baseball.
00:32 Oh, you're really into Tibetan Buddhism?
00:35 I might be into that.
00:36 I'll try that."
00:37 You know, you're willing to kind of mold yourself around
00:39 whoever you are in love with.
00:43 I guess for me, the big realization of being married
00:46 is that it's not that much different.
00:48 Like, I still have to make myself happy.
00:51 And I know everyone says that,
00:53 but when you experience it for yourself,
00:55 it's totally, you know, it's a different thing.
00:57 Cindy, who married Richard in 1991
01:00 before splitting four years later,
01:02 reflects on how things began to shift for her
01:05 during the marriage,
01:06 including when she veered away
01:08 from the elite fashion world.
01:10 He was older, so I just was like in a different circle
01:13 and not doing some of those same fashion-y things anymore.
01:16 The biggest change I've made is in terms of schedule.
01:18 I won't do as much work
01:20 because you have to schedule in time together.
01:24 But her style wasn't totally thrown out the window
01:27 during their relationship.
01:29 Cindy recalls making a splash on the 1991 Oscars carpet
01:34 with this unforgettable red gown.
01:37 I got invited to go to the Oscars with Richard.
01:39 I'm like, "Well, I mean, what do models do well?
01:41 We wear clothes well.
01:42 I mean, I better look good."
01:44 Like, that was kind of what my thinking was.
01:46 It's like, "I'm gonna go to the Oscars.
01:48 I better be a freaking supermodel."
01:51 (upbeat music)
01:54 So when I showed up in that red dress,
01:57 I think it was a little like,
01:59 "Wow, fashion is back at the Oscars."
02:01 You and Richard, America's sexiest couple.
02:03 Well, I'm amused by actually just the sexiest couple alive.
02:07 I kind of understand when they say like a guy's the sexiest
02:10 guy or sexiest bachelor, but sexiest couple alive,
02:12 I'm not quite sure what that means yet.
02:14 It's right up there with supermodel.
02:15 Not quite sure what it means, but it's amusing.
02:18 Cindy and Richard met in 1988,
02:21 eloping three years later in Vegas.
02:24 For me, it was like,
02:25 "When I get married, my life's gonna start."
02:27 But in 1995, the pair called it quits.
02:30 So many people have gone through divorce.
02:32 Like I said, I think we talked about it,
02:33 that no one really knows what that kind of pain is
02:38 until you go through it.
02:40 After you've really made a commitment to someone
02:41 and it hasn't worked out.
02:43 But you're getting better.
02:44 Yeah, I feel like I'm coming out of it.
02:46 Yeah.
02:47 A lot of help from my friends, yeah.
02:49 In 2002, Richard went on to marry
02:51 model and actress, Carrie Lowell,
02:53 with whom he shares son, Homer.
02:56 11 years later, they divorced as well.
02:59 And in 2018, he tied the knot with Alejandra Silva
03:03 and have since welcomed two children together.
03:06 Meanwhile, Cindy just celebrated her 25th anniversary
03:10 with husband, Randy Gerber.
03:12 The two are parents to a daughter,
03:14 model and actress, Kaya Gerber, and a son, Presley.
03:18 We've been very blessed.
