00:00 The 18th iteration of the Solheim Cup is just days away, and what better way to promote
00:05 the historic transatlantic competition than in New York City?
00:08 Nelly Korda and Lilia Vu, the US team's two top-ranked players, joined their team
00:13 captain Stacey Lewis for the special opportunity to market the event on a national stage.
00:18 Let us talk about this shiny piece of hardware that's here with us.
00:22 This is the Solheim Cup.
00:23 Along with the Cup, we've got three members from Team USA with us, Captain Stacey Lewis,
00:27 Nelly Korda, and Lilia Vu.
00:30 Golf takes us to amazing places, and to be able to promote a Solheim Cup in New York
00:35 City is pretty amazing.
00:36 It's such a cool experience being on the Today Show and being alongside all the hosts.
00:41 I definitely was a little nervous today, but I always am.
00:44 And it just felt really cool, and I have a sense of pride of representing my country.
00:49 Today's been so much fun already, and can't wait to see what the rest of the day is going
00:52 to look like.
00:57 Held every two years since 1990, the Solheim Cup features the 12 best European women and
01:02 the 12 best American women going head-to-head in intense match play competition.
01:07 The US might have the all-time winning record with 10 victories, but this year the Europeans
01:11 are looking to take home the Cup for the third consecutive event.
01:14 For that reason, the Americans are more focused than ever on the task at hand.
01:18 Golf is so individual, and you're always playing for yourself.
01:21 So whenever you get a group of girls that you can not just play for yourself, but play
01:25 for them and your country, I think it's going to be super fun.
01:28 I've dreamed about playing for this team since I was a little girl.
01:31 Super excited and looking forward to playing with my 11 other teammates.
01:34 Getting to represent my country, it's always eyes of honors.
01:37 And then to be able to spread the word about women's golf and something so exciting like
01:42 the Solheim Cup is always so great.
01:44 And I feel like this event just draws in such a big crowd, and I feel like it's a great
01:48 way to showcase women's golf and to grow the game.
