00:00 Good news! For those looking for jobs abroad, South Korea is planning to hire Filipino domestic helpers.

00:08 Their country is also studying to expand the visa of the Employment Permit System for skilled workers there.

00:15 That is the first news of Ian Cruz.

00:17 Michael Bagot, 29 years old, returned to South Korea this July.

00:26 His second contract under the EPS or Employment Permit System is a luxury for his loved ones.

00:33 That is why he is hoping, and other Filipino factory workers here, that the existence of those under the EPS can be extended.

00:41 In the next 10 years, our family in the Philippines will receive more help.

00:46 The relationship between the Philippines and South Korea has been stable for several decades.

00:50 That is why it is not surprising that many Filipinos are encouraged to work here where the income is higher and the benefits are better.

01:00 The Embassy of the Philippines confirmed here in Seoul that they are studying to expand the employment of skilled workers under the EPS.

01:09 You have the opportunity to have another contract that is a bit longer than your first contract.

01:16 The EPS will last for two decades where foreign workers are allowed to hire Korean employers who cannot hire local workers.

01:24 More than half of the estimated 63,000 Filipinos in South Korea are under the EPS program.

01:30 But they also need to see the right thing to do before giving a longer contract.

01:35 There are requirements that they are looking at, including the language proficiency.

01:41 Aside from factory workers, domestic helpers are also being talked about from the Philippines, especially the population of South Korea is aging.

01:49 They are doing pilot study and possible pilot implementation in the coming months.

01:58 But the number is initially small.
