00:00 part of the safety of women and girls strategy that the mayor launched just
00:04 over a year ago we committed to address the educational deficit, call it what
00:11 you like, of men and boys when it comes to sexual harassment and the way that
00:15 some of their behaviours can make us women and girls feel and so the
00:20 strategy highlighted that a male behaviour change campaign needed to
00:26 be developed and we needed to increase education around the issues facing women
00:31 and girls so this is it. I'll just tell her to smile more she might just smile
00:36 more if I grab her. Body is well fit I just found the socials I've been liking all
00:42 the pics too just sent her a picture of my...
00:45 Big one love!
00:47 What you saying?
00:48 She might like it just ask her if she needed a daddy just seeing if I can put
00:54 her in her place just saying I could if I wanted to just letting her know just
01:02 saying I know where she lives
01:08 86% of young women in the UK have experienced sexual harassment in public
01:18 shocked it's not banter it's not harmless and it's not okay so just don't
01:27 we expect that more girls will recognize that something is potentially harassment
01:36 and report it there was lots and lots of research done to develop this campaign
01:44 we spoke to young men young women we utilized a lot of the resources that
01:49 we've got in the combined authorities so we've got a range of partners that we
01:54 engage with and groups that we engage with and lots of people were brought
01:58 into the conversation to understand what would work we've got a limited amount of
02:02 money we want the biggest impact we possibly can so we needed to get the
02:06 right messaging to the right cohort so this is age 14 to 21 young men and boys
02:12 we want to make sure that they hear the messaging so we didn't want it to be
02:16 about rape and serious sexual assault which we know one in four women will
02:21 experience in their life as adults it won't we wanted it to be about that low
02:25 level banter that low level stuff that men and boys might engage in or might
02:33 allow others to engage in without challenge we want them to understand
02:37 that that has an impact but it can escalate to some of that worse stuff so
02:41 please be part of the solution help us stay safe we're hoping definitely to a
02:46 see an increase in reporting but we're also hoping to see a bit of a shift in
02:51 attitudes we want schools to be telling us wow the conversations we're having
02:55 now are so much more mature young men understand what behaviors are okay and
02:59 not okay and that's the start of the transformation that we want to see
