Fantasy analyst Jen Piacenti is giving team managers her top adds heading into Week 3 of the 2023 NFL season.
Transcript
00:00 Hey, what's going on everybody?
00:01 Week two of the fantasy football season is in the books,
00:03 which means it's time to start looking at the players
00:05 you want to add off the waiver wire for week three.
00:07 And who better to do that than our very own,
00:10 the princess of props, Jen Piagenti.
00:13 Jen, let's start off with the quarterback position
00:15 where a certain rookie is finding himself
00:17 in negative game scripts,
00:18 and that's actually helping his value.
00:20 - Oh yeah, that's wonderful for fantasy football, right?
00:23 Yeah, we saw CJ Stroud actually kind of come
00:25 into his own this week, only his second week in the NFL,
00:28 and I really liked the way he looked through
00:30 for nearly 400 yards, passed for two touchdowns,
00:33 and he did all of this while missing
00:35 three of his five offensive linemen.
00:37 So it should only get better.
00:39 Those sacks should decrease.
00:41 He also didn't throw an interception
00:43 while completing passes to eight different receivers.
00:45 So yes, as you mentioned, negative game scripts
00:48 often a really positive thing for fantasy football.
00:51 So Stroud is someone you may just want to stash
00:53 on your bench for those upcoming bye weeks.
00:56 Jordan Love could be out there as well.
00:58 We told you to pick him up last week.
01:00 Still available in a lot of leagues.
01:01 Moving on to the running backs.
01:03 And have the Colts found their featured back
01:06 until Jonathan Taylor finally comes back?
01:09 - Well, it certainly seems so.
01:10 He played all but one of the snaps.
01:13 So I don't know how much more evidence we need
01:15 that the guy to get is Zach Moss,
01:17 at least until Jonathan Taylor comes back, as you said.
01:19 But even when Jonathan Taylor comes back,
01:21 we don't know that he'll even be playing for the Colts.
01:24 Evan Hall is on the IR.
01:25 Dion Jackson has been inefficient.
01:27 And Zach Moss is actually the RB9
01:29 heading into Monday night football
01:31 after he had 88 yards on the ground,
01:34 caught four of his four targets for 19 yards
01:37 and scored a touchdown.
01:38 So Moss is the back to target there.
01:40 - Gus Edwards, also available in a lot of leagues,
01:43 seems to be the lead guy for the Baltimore Ravens
01:45 for right now.
01:46 Moving on to the wide receivers,
01:48 and you like a small guy named Tank.
01:50 - And as you know, I've liked Tank
01:53 ever since the preseason.
01:54 He was consistently beating his coverage in preseason.
01:57 I just like everything about Tank Dell.
01:59 He looked phenomenal on Sunday.
02:02 Once Noah Brown went to the IR,
02:04 they told us we were gonna see more of Tank Dell.
02:07 But what was interesting is that they moved
02:08 Robert Woods into the slot,
02:10 and Dell got some of those outside routes.
02:12 It worked out really well for the Texans,
02:14 even though they lost the game.
02:15 He went for 72 yards and a score.
02:18 He also played 77% of the snaps,
02:20 which is 10% more than Nico Collins.
02:23 He saw one more target than Nico Collins.
02:25 He saw 10.
02:26 And he also ran one more route than Nico Collins.
02:29 So all of those bode well for Tank Dell down the line.
02:33 We know CJ Stroud is a young passer,
02:35 and it's wonderful that he has these young receivers
02:38 that can grow with him.
02:39 And I think he and Tank Dell might be a fun connection.
02:42 I'm definitely picking him up.
02:43 On any of the leagues where I don't already have him,
02:46 the ones where I already had him,
02:47 he had a really big day on my bench,
02:49 and that was a little bit painful
02:50 that I didn't believe soon enough.
02:52 But okay, I believe henceforth.
02:55 - Yeah, also Josh Reynolds in Detroit
02:56 continues to have value while Jamison Williams is out.
02:59 Finally, let's move on to the tight end position
03:01 and a player who is near and dear to our hearts.
03:04 Of course, Jake Ferguson from our beloved Dallas Cowboys.
03:08 - So I'm picking Jake Ferguson this week
03:10 because this is for those of you
03:11 who are mostly streaming tight ends.
03:13 If you want someone more long-term,
03:14 we talked last week about Sam Laporta.
03:16 We like Zach Ertz, Hunter Henry.
03:18 I don't know why he isn't at least 50% rostered
03:21 after he's the tight end too for this season.
03:22 But Jake Ferguson is your streamer for the week
03:25 because he's facing the Arizona Cardinals, okay?
03:28 Last season, no team surrendered more fantasy points
03:31 to the tight end position than the Arizona Cardinals.
03:33 And so far this year,
03:34 they've allowed the third most receiving yards
03:37 to the position.
03:38 Ferguson caught three of his four targets on Sunday
03:40 and scored a touchdown.
03:41 We know that Dallas does use their tight ends.
03:43 Listen, CD Lamb doesn't have a touchdown yet.
03:46 What's going on?
03:48 Maybe he's not gonna get his mini.
03:49 Maybe if he will go to Jake Ferguson those ones
03:51 that went to Dalton Schultz.
03:52 I don't know.
03:53 Don't panic, CD Lamb.
03:55 Fantasy managers.
03:56 He'll be fine.
03:57 - I'm all in on Ferguson.
03:58 - But let's think about streaming Ferguson this week.
04:00 - Yeah, in fact, a little teaser to start him and sit him.
04:03 Ferguson might be a start this week.
04:04 So Jen, you're the best.
04:06 Thank you so much for giving us those players.
04:09 And she's got an extensive list of players
04:11 to pick up off the waiver wire.
