00:00 We're going to get more reaction now from India with Navodita Kumari, who joins me live
00:04 from New Delhi.
00:05 Navodita, what more can you tell us?
00:10 Here in India, the reactions have been very strong.
00:14 The government said that it rejects all the allegations made by Canadian Prime Minister
00:20 Justin Trudeau.
00:22 And they said that after expelling a top Canadian diplomat, that it reflects India's growing
00:29 concern over the involvement of Canadian diplomats in India's internal matters, as well as anti-India
00:40 activities.
00:41 So the new sensational allegations by Justin Trudeau has further worsened the relationship
00:48 of these two countries.
00:50 And what was the state of India-Canada relations before this latest twist?
00:55 Were they good?
01:00 No actually, India-Canada relation was already going through a tough phase since a couple
01:05 of months.
01:06 In fact, Canada has cancelled a planned trade talk for October in India.
01:13 And also last week during the G20 summit, there was no bilateral talks between Justin
01:18 Trudeau and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
01:21 So it reflects a lot, both countries share economic ties worth $8 billion.
01:28 And a large Indian community lives in Canada, most of them Sikh, comprising over 800,000.
01:35 And a lot of Indian students go every year for higher studies.
01:40 So this worsening relationship is going to impact, of course, their economic ties, as
01:46 well as the community living in Canada, as well as those who are dependent on the remittances
01:52 sent by them here in India, mainly in the Punjab region.
01:56 Navadita, thank you for that.
01:58 Navadita Kumari reporting live from New Delhi.
