00:00 Fast spreading, unpredictable and potentially deadly, wildfires can be incredibly difficult
00:07 to bring under control. But now a Danish start-up has combined artificial intelligence and drone
00:13 technology to give fire crews a fighting chance.
00:18 Typically, when firefighters come out to a wildfire, they rely on 12-hour fire maps or
00:26 even in worst cases 24-hour fire maps. And that means that whenever they come out to
00:31 an operation, they need to get an overview of the situation which is then putting behind
00:36 the actual combating of the fire. And so in the very early stages of a wildfire, those
00:42 first moments are critical in making sure the wildfire is not running out of control.
00:47 With our technology, they can get an instant overview of where the fire is, how large it
00:52 is, where it's most intense and then allocate their resources.
00:59 The quadcopter takes off and flies autonomously, methodically searching a predefined area.
01:06 It's equipped with a thermal camera which sends data to an AI processing unit.
01:12 The technology can also be used to monitor wildlife and in search and rescue operations.
