Canada on Monday expelled a top Indian diplomat as it investigates what Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called credible allegations that the Indian government may have had links to the assassination in Canada of a Sikh activist. In Parliament, the Canadian PM said the country's intelligence agencies have been investigating the allegations after Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar was gunned down on June 18 outside a Sikh cultural centre in Surrey, British Columbia. 01:02 Since this was brought to our attention, we've been guided by three principles.
01:09 The first one, we will seek the truth.
01:13 The second one, we will protect Canadians at all times.
01:17 And thirdly, we will protect Canada's sovereignty.
01:23 I've conveyed these principles to my Indian counterpart,
01:27 and I've also told him that we expect India's full collaboration
01:31 to make sure that we get to the bottom of this.
01:34 And as of today, and as a consequence, we've expelled a top Indian diplomat from Canada.
