00:20 I can't remember when it started.
00:21 Maybe-- I guess I've always been like this, really, in a way.
00:28 Um, for as long as I can remember, anyway.
00:32 I'm sorry.
00:35 It's hard for me to talk about it.
00:37 I've been told I have an unhealthy interest in news
00:42 reports.
00:44 But what's unhealthy about wanting to be prepared?
00:48 There's nothing morbid about it.
00:49 It's just being realistic, I think.
00:55 It's worse at this time of year, when the evenings are already
00:59 dark, when everyone's in such a hurry to get home.
01:05 They don't pay attention to what's going on around them,
01:08 what's happening down some side street at the back of Asda,
01:14 down some grotty alleyway.
01:21 And then later still, walking home when no one's about.
01:27 You know, they always say that I should catch a taxi.
01:30 But, you know, you hear such horrible stories
01:33 about that as well.
01:35 So what makes-- what's the difference?
01:37 What makes that even safer?
01:38 My friend says I should just stop reading the papers.
01:44 But they're only reporting the news, things that happen.
01:47 So why should I just pretend that they don't?
01:51 [MUSIC PLAYING]
01:54 Normally, when people go missing, don't they,
01:58 there's a report of what they were last seen
02:00 wearing and everything.
02:01 And I always get a little bit worried,
02:04 because I like to change my outfits, like, three times
02:07 a day or something.
02:08 And, you know, not everybody will
02:10 remember what my last outfit was before I left the house.
02:14 And, you know, I was going to write it down on a pad
02:18 by the front door every time I left the house.
02:20 But then I'm worried my friends will see it and take the piss.
02:23 And then there are all those accidents and murders
02:30 where the victims can only be identified by their DNA.
02:33 It made me wonder what bits of DNA
02:37 I've left behind to help with the identification process.
02:46 Crime Watch hasn't helped.
02:48 Whenever I walk home now, I can't help it,
02:52 but that I hear this voiceover, which
02:56 says what I'm wearing, where I'm going, who I'm going to meet,
03:01 just as it did-- like it does on Crime Watch.
03:03 And, you know, but I can't stop it now.
03:09 I always try and know where the CCTV cameras
03:13 are on my walks home.
03:15 So whenever I see a camera, I always make sure
03:19 it gets a good picture of me.
03:21 Sometimes I smile just for the dramatic irony
03:24 of the whole thing.
03:26 Sometimes I look concerned and check over my shoulder
03:28 as if I know I'm being followed.
03:30 Now, whenever I go out and I know
03:36 I'm going to be out late, I leave a freshly used razor
03:42 by the bath just so that there's some fresh DNA to help
03:47 with my identification.
