Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Elon Musk in New York and invited him to build Tesla's next factory in Turkey. Musk said Turkey is among the most important candidates for Tesla's next factory location. Turkey has positioned itself as a major manufacturing hub. Turkey aims to increase its GDP from manufacturing and develop its defense, auto, and tech industries further. However, its economy and currency have weakened in recent years. Tesla currently has 6 factories and is building a 7th in Mexico. Musk said he may choose the location for the next one by the end of 2023.
