Transcript
00:00 I'm mainly in charge of organizing the Swiss Mix, which is a local competition within the
00:06 RESTFEST international program.
00:09 We organize a film competition for Swiss nationals and people who live and work in Switzerland
00:16 once a year.
00:17 We are in the second year this year.
00:21 We got quite a lot of contributions.
00:23 It was over 80 contributions this year from all over Switzerland with a very, very high
00:29 quality and we're very happy to receive all those films.
00:34 Swiss Mix starts in March.
00:39 Was this year for the first time and then next year again in 2006.
00:44 We launch it in March and the deadline is by the end of August.
00:49 We'll have a professional jury of five film professionals.
00:53 This year it was director Sabine Giesiger, she just had her documentary Gambit in the
01:01 movie theaters here in Switzerland.
01:04 It's an effects specialist and director Yogi Parish, who is very active here in the film
01:10 scene, a young film scene in Switzerland.
01:13 We had the CEO, head of programming of Viva Music TV in Switzerland in the jury, as well
01:21 as a well-known journalist of Swiss television, SFDRS, Mrs. Franziska Oliver in our jury and
01:30 Beat Lin here, who is a documentary filmmaker of Panimage.
01:35 Together we used the 80 contributions and we were able to make a selection of 10 films
01:43 this year.
01:45 We have five music videos and five short films.
01:49 Maybe I want to pick out one film from each category to say a little something about it.
01:55 In the first category we have an animation film.
01:59 It's a very long music video, it's over eight minutes.
02:02 It's by a young Bernese filmmaker called Tom Henney.
02:08 He's 23 years old and he's also won the Creativity Award 2005, which sort of awards the best
02:17 Swiss film students and their work in Switzerland.
02:21 And in the section of the shorts, we have a very young filmmaker as well.
02:28 It is his first year in film school, his contribution.
02:33 It's a film where he basically did everything himself, even writing the music, props, set,
02:42 editing.
02:44 It's really a one-man job and it's pretty amazing for a one-year student.
02:47 It's called Kronos Andrea.
02:50 And it's a story about this old Greek mythology about the guy who eats the babies.
02:55 So it's a pretty morbid, dark piece, but beautifully made and really, really amazing.
03:05 We would love to have a lot of contributions, especially if Swiss people living in the United
03:09 States are watching this program, please contribute to the SwissMix 2006.
03:15 You're going to find all the information on the website, which is www.resfest.ch.
03:22 You'll find submission forms and you'll find terms and conditions, everything on there,
03:26 how to do it.
03:27 And you'll have all summer 2006 to make a great film and possibly be part of the SwissMix
03:33 2006.
03:34 We'll also do a DVD with the contributions of 2005 and that will be available in early
03:44 2006.
03:45 We're going to do a launch here in Zurich, present the DVD and also possibly show the
03:51 films once more for a broader audience in Zurich.
