Sarawak to host World Water Congress and Exhibition in 2028

Sarawak will host the World Water Congress and Exhibition in 2028 after presenting a successful bid in France, says Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

The Premier said that in his speech at the national-level Malaysia Day celebration Saturday (Sept 16) night that this was a significant milestone for the state, especially during the 60th Malaysia Day celebration.

00:19 I am happy to announce that Sarawak has made history today
00:25 for Malaysia and ASEAN.

00:32 As Malaysia, Sarawak and Kuching have been selected to host
00:37 the International Water Association World Water Congress
00:42 [Applause]
00:44 and exhibition in 2028,
00:48 after presenting its bid for the event at Bordaux, France.
00:54 Indeed, this is another significant milestone,
01:00 especially during our 60th Malaysia Day celebration,
01:05 which all Malaysians can be proud of.

01:13 Yang Amat Berhamat, the Congress is expected
01:16 to attract 10,000 participants from 80 countries.
01:22 It will be held at the newly expanded Borneo Convention Centre,
01:27 Kuching, in 2028.
01:30 The Congress is a world congress,
01:34 expected to generate economic outcomes and legacies
01:39 that will spearhead regional collaboration for ASEAN.
01:44 It will also position Sarawak as the hub for sustainability
01:50 and innovation in the global water industry.

01:57 So, Kuching is known to the whole world.
