00:00 Yesterday, the authorities inspected the carbon market in Cebu City to be sure that the price of rice was up to P41.45,

00:09 in accordance with Executive Order 39 of President Bongbong Marcos Jr.

00:14 No violations were found in the price cap.

00:16 We're going around right now to check the prices if we're able to implement.

00:24 So far, okay.

00:25 They're compliant with the P41.45.

00:36 But the retailer is getting angry with the loss.

00:39 For Erwin Gokong Jr., he bought the rice at P50 per kilogram.

00:46 But because of the President's order, he sold it at P45 per kilogram,

00:53 he's calling on the government to do something to lower the price of rice

00:59 because they can't afford to lose on the price ceiling.

01:03 That's it. Instead of getting a penalty, you'll get a PPI.

01:10 But Gokong is one of the beneficiaries of the government's P15,000 aid.

01:15 Only eight rice retailers in Cebu City were the first to receive a subsidy.

01:20 According to the data, there are 40 retailers in Carbon,

01:24 while others will receive aid in the next batch.

01:28 In the entire Central Visayas, including Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor,

01:33 only 87 will receive cash aid.

01:40 urged the retailers to pay through a financial subsidy.

01:45 But is P15,000 enough for the retailers?

01:48 According to the retailers, they lost P250 per sack of 50 kilograms of rice.

01:55 They usually buy 100 sacks, which means they lost P25,000.

02:02 It's a good thing that we have rice in the rice fields

02:06 because the poor people are so poor.

02:09 Even if the rice is cheap, they'll still be poor.
