00:00 The Sugar Regulatory Administration of the SRA is monitoring the possible effects of El Niño on the production of sugar in the country.
00:07 According to Administrator Pablo Luis Azcona of the SRA,
00:11 sugar production may decrease in the wake of El Niño in November until the next year.
00:17 But Azcona said that they are expecting to have a buffer stock of sugar that will last for two months.
00:24 Meanwhile, the farm gate price of sugar is still at Php 60, which means that the price of sugar in the market is between Php 85 and Php 110 per kilo.
00:35 "The expected forecast for El Niño is November to January.
00:42 So we will monitor the severity of this and we will see if it will bring about a decrease on the estimated production or not."
00:51 "So for now, our push is to improve production.
00:56 Since the farm gate price stabilized, we have seen an increase in area in various places, which is a good sign."
