00:00 The proud owner of 15 professional titles and four majors,
00:04 Brooks Koepka is one of the main characters
00:06 currently on the PGA Tour.
00:08 Famous for his golf as well as his longstanding rivalry
00:11 with Bryson DeChambeau.
00:13 Let's get to know the American a little bit better
00:15 with these 10 facts.
00:16 Brooks was born in West Palm Beach, Florida.
00:20 He stayed in his home state to go to college
00:22 and attended Florida State University
00:25 on a golf scholarship.
00:26 He started his professional career
00:28 on the Challenge Tour in Europe,
00:30 winning his first event in September 2012
00:32 at the Challenge de Catalunya.
00:34 He went on to win two more times on the Challenge Tour,
00:37 thus granting him a European Tour card
00:40 for the remainder of the 2013 season
00:42 and the whole of the 2014 season.
00:44 Koepka was the first golfer to ever win
00:47 back-to-back majors at the same time.
00:49 He did this by defending the US Open
00:52 and the PGA Championship.
00:54 He defended his 2017 US Open in 2018
00:58 and then defended his 2018 PGA Championship win in 2019.
01:02 He became the 20th men's player to win two majors in a year
01:07 and with these four majors,
01:09 only two active golfers have more majors than him,
01:12 Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.
01:14 Koepka is only the fifth men's player
01:16 in the history of golf to win the US Open
01:18 and the PGA Championship in the same year.
01:21 The others were Gene Sarazin, Ben Hogan,
01:24 Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.
01:26 Brooks started playing golf when he was 10 years old.
01:28 This was following a car crash
01:30 that left him with facial injuries
01:31 that meant he was banned from playing contact sports.
01:34 His fiancee, who is often seen celebrating with him
01:37 after victories, is actress Jenna Sims.
01:40 She's been in films alongside the likes of Morgan Freeman,
01:43 Robert De Niro and Michael Douglas
01:45 and she also runs an award-winning,
01:47 non-profit organisation called Pageant of Hope.
01:51 After his CJ Cup victory in October 2018,
01:54 Brooks Koepka became the world number one.
01:57 In doing so, he became the 23rd man to top the rankings.
02:01 Brooks' brother, Chase Koepka,
02:02 is also a touring professional.
02:04 Chase has played on the European and Challenge Tours
02:07 and now competes on the PGA and Corn Ferry Tours.
02:11 Koepka's great uncle, Dick Groat,
02:13 played shortstop for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
02:16 He won two World Series
02:17 and was the 1960 National League MVP.
02:21 Sport runs very strong throughout the Koepka family
02:24 and Brooks' favourite teams from other sports
02:26 include Manchester United, the LA Lakers
02:29 and the Green Bay Packers.
02:31 Koepka was Rookie of the Year on the European Tour in 2014
02:34 and then on the PGA Tour in 2015.
02:37 In 2015, he won the Phoenix Open
02:39 and then finished 10th at the Open Championship.
