Danelo Cavalcante, a 34-year-old man from Pennsylvania who had escaped from prison two weeks ago while awaiting transfer, was captured. Cavalcante had been sentenced to life in prison last month for murdering his ex-girlfriend in 2021. He escaped Chester County Prison on August 31st by scaling a razor-wire fence. On Wednesday, a heat-sensing aircraft from the DEA was able to pick up a heat signal on the ground in a wooded area of South Coventry Township. A tactical team that included a dog unit from US Customs and Border Protection moved in to apprehend Cavalcante. A four-year-old Belgian Malinois named Yoda subdued Cavalcante as he attempted to crawl away. Cavalcante was taken into custody without injuries and will face additional charges for his escape.
