00:00 We are here with the Nelly Furtado. How are you today?
00:03 Si, si, si! Very good. How are you?
00:06 I'm doing well. Tell me about this look.
00:07 Oh, thank you. This is a Dunn-ness gown. It's very fun to wear.
00:10 I mean, it's a bit like bringing sexy back here with the back cut out,
00:14 but I'm comfortable. I feel good.
00:16 So talk to me about your recent collab with JT and Timbaland.
00:19 We gotta talk about it.
00:20 Um, it's... Oh, God. I'm presenting Song of the Year with Timbaland tonight.
00:25 I might have seen Justin earlier. I'm not sure. Maybe it wasn't him.
00:29 And, yeah, we're so excited to be making music again.
00:33 It feels like a mini miracle for us that we could get back in
00:36 and share the love and the chemistry again.
00:39 And I've noticed that a lot of your content has gone viral.
00:42 - Aww. - What's that reception been like?
00:44 You know, it all started with TikTok, where I found, like,
00:47 a lot of my old songs had a resurgence, whether it was, like,
00:50 "Give It to Me" or "Promiscuous" or "Man Eater," all these songs remixed.
00:53 A lot of DJs were remixing my songs so much, and so I got in on the fun,
00:57 and I started to do TikTok dances and videos and just...
01:01 It's a platform I really enjoy.
01:03 I really like the creativity and the irreverence of TikTok.
01:07 I think it's a really great way for us as fans to connect with you as an artist.
01:11 Yeah, I think so, too. It's all kinds of ways to connect,
01:13 and I'm always thinking about that,
01:15 and I'm always watching new creators and new sounds,
01:18 and, um, just that's how you stay creative, you know, in the mix of things.
01:23 And speaking of that, what's at the top of your playlist right now?
01:26 Oh, well, I just saw Flo Milly, and we're actually friends.
01:28 We've been in the studio together before.
01:30 I haven't seen her since then. Like, I went to her show in Toronto.
01:33 She came to the studio. We hung out.
01:35 Next time I see her, she's looking like a million dollars
01:37 with this pink, sparkly thing, and I'm like, "Girl, I haven't seen you since..."
01:41 Tonight's already great, you know?
01:43 So Flo Milly, top of the playlist.
01:45 Get the fuck out!
01:46 Wait, and Doja.
01:48 We're about to get kicked in the face.
01:50 And Doja.
01:51 And, uh, SZA, and, um...
01:55 I'm excited for Karol G. I'm excited for Anitta.
01:58 I love Anitta.
01:59 A lot of Latinx representation out here tonight.
02:02 Yeah, sí me gusta.
02:03 Así me gusta.
02:05 Okay, one last question for you.
02:06 What are you most excited about for the future of music?
02:10 Um, for me, the future of music, oh my God.
02:13 I think music is in a really good place right now.
02:16 I think music business is thriving right now, in my personal opinion.
02:20 A lot of great creativity out there, and...
02:23 Oh my God, just more and more. I love the international explosion
02:26 and the Latin explosion. I love that, like...
02:29 I don't know, I was listening to, like, Friday Latin Mix on Spotify,
02:31 and I'm like, "I love every single song."
02:34 It's like... I just think music is so exciting right now.
