00:00 Bollywood actor Govinda is set to face questioning by the Odisha Economic Offences Wing in connection
00:05 with a massive Rs 1,000 crore Ponzi scheme, as reported by a leading newspaper.
00:11 The actor's involvement in endorsing Solar Techno Alliance, the company behind the scam,
00:16 has brought him under scrutiny.
00:18 STA, which had a global presence, operated an online Ponzi scheme under the guise of
00:24 cryptocurrency investments.
00:26 The company allegedly collected deposits from over 2 lakh individuals across India without
00:31 the authorization of the Reserve Bank of India, accumulating a staggering Rs 1,000 crore
00:37 in the process.
00:39 EOW officials have clarified that Govinda is neither a suspect nor an accused in the
00:45 case.
00:46 However, they plan to question him due to his endorsement of STA in several videos,
00:51 hoping to gather more information and insights into the scam from his statements.
00:59 Govinda had attended a major event hosted by STA in Goa earlier this year.
01:04 Consequently, a team from the Odisha EOW is expected to travel to Mumbai soon to interview
01:10 the actor regarding his association with the company.
01:14 Officials further emphasized that Govinda's role was that of an endorser, and it was limited
01:19 as per a valid agreement.
01:21 Depending on the outcome of the investigation, he may be designated as a witness in the case.
01:27 As of now, Govinda has not issued an official statement regarding his involvement in the
01:32 case.
01:33 On the professional front, Govinda was last seen in the 2019 film Rangeela Raja and has
01:38 since made appearances on reality shows and events as a special guest.
