Watch: Koroit co-captains Molly McKinnon and Kasey Barling ahead of Hampden preliminary final
Transcript
00:00 Thanks for joining us Molly and Casey, head of the preliminary final, co-captains at Kroy.
00:05 Can you tell us a bit about each other's leadership qualities?
00:09 Well, Mol is fantastic in the attack end, she's our goal attack and sort of orchestrates and leads that attack end which is nice,
00:19 especially for those young girls in attack and in the midcourt.
00:23 So she sort of just leads by example and helps the young girls out which is fantastic and always really positive.
00:31 Yeah, vice versa, like Casey down in the defence end, runs everything down there and has, I find Casey a very vocal player and really encouraging to everyone on the team.
00:44 And big game against Cobden this weekend, what do you have to do well to overcome that?
00:49 Keep possession of the ball, not turn the ball over and succumb to their pressure across the court because it is very good.
00:57 But yeah, play well as a team, talk, communicate.
01:03 I feel like we need to be just a bit more aggressive than last time, we probably got a little bit scared, they're very vocal compared to us,
01:12 so I think if we just really commit to our leads, meet the ball, that sort of thing, try and have confidence, then hopefully that will show on Saturday.
01:22 And you've got a pretty young team this year, who's impressed you girls on the court?
01:27 All of them, they're amazing. I'm in awe of them, I forget how young they are, I just see them as fellow team mates.
01:37 I feel like across the season, probably Scarlett has improved so much in wing defence, she's just so strong and smart, really good ball, takes in some really great balls,
01:50 and I just really want to keep an eye on her and her netball, or even her footy, she's just an all-round athlete.
01:57 So I think she'll make it big in some sort of sport. But yeah, they're amazing, not just their skills, but how they take on feedback and everything.
02:08 I think Layla's been playing open netball for a few years now, but she has really cemented her position and played a massive role for us in goalkeeper this year.
02:19 She's had a standout year and been so consistent across the board.
02:23 Well thanks ladies and good luck on Saturday. Thank you.
