00:00 of evaluate what you've gotten from the guys up front?
00:03 >> I'll tell you what, the guys have really,
00:05 they bought in which we thought they did during camp.
00:09 Into who we are, what we are, how we work, how we practice.
00:15 I'm really excited, I told you back in the summer.
00:17 I was excited about the group I got, and I am.
00:20 They're working well together, they're pushing each other, challenging each other.
00:25 And really excited to see them just continuing their progression as we go
00:30 through the season.
00:31 >> Like you said, I know you're excited about the transfers coming in.
00:34 But now that they've actually played, what's kind of impressed you about them?
00:37 And how have they been able to kind of integrate themselves with the defense
00:41 right away?
00:42 >> I'll tell you what, I think the biggest thing is them coming together.
00:46 When you bring in transfer guys,
00:48 you wanna know how they're gonna fit as a brother, as a part of the unit.
00:54 And they've been really great about that.
00:56 Being a D-line brotherhood, working well together,
01:00 competing, trying to compete at a high level.
01:03 But also pushing each other, but also helping each other and
01:08 coaching each other during practice, film study, all those type things.
01:14 But just watching them come together as a unit has really been really pleasing to me.
01:20 >> How about Andre Carger?
01:20 And obviously watching games, he's made an impact.
01:22 But it sounds like guys have also really thought that he's become a leader.
01:26 Obviously, he's a team captain.
01:27 What have you seen from him?
01:29 >> You know what, Andre come in, has done a really good job.
01:33 Competes at a high level, works really hard.
01:37 And he also works at being a team guy.
01:40 Meeting with guys individually or with the group and different things like that.
01:45 And of course, like you said, he's playing at a high level, productive.
01:49 But just continuing to be that leader and that spark for us.
01:54 When we need a play, when we need energy, when we need juice,
01:57 just continuing to elevate his energy and effort.
02:01 >> How much does it juice up the rest of the guys to see Andre out there making plays?
02:05 >> You know what, as a unit, you saw Philip after sack, Andre sack the other day.
02:11 Philip really flexing himself just like he made the play.
02:15 I think the guys feel that way about each other.
02:17 They're excited when any one of them make a play.
02:21 Because they know that it takes an entire unit to get a sack,
02:24 to get a TFL to make a play.
02:27 >> How long does it take you to kind of develop the rotations the way you want?
02:30 >> I'll tell you what, truthfully, since spring.
02:34 [LAUGH]
02:35 We've been building since spring.
02:37 And to talk to the guys about each one of them got different talents.
02:41 They all got to have talent, but each one of them have different talent.
02:45 And then just being able to put them together at different times throughout
02:49 the game, different situations and things like that.
02:53 And like I said, the biggest thing is that they bought into it.
02:56 And they're excited when they're, naturally, when they're on the field.
03:00 But they're also excited when their brother who works hard every day
03:04 gets an opportunity to participate too.
03:05 >> Are you running point on that throughout the game?
03:07 Like do you use on the sidelines sending the guys in or how does that kind of work?
03:11 >> Yeah, we have a sub rotation deal that we do.
03:17 Just keep trying to keep the guys fresh.
03:19 >> Yeah. >> All deal is we want all guys to play
03:21 fast and play hard for as long as you can.
03:24 And then we feel like, hey, the next guy can come in and play at that same level.
03:29 And then roll them and keep them fresh.
03:31 So the goal is to keep them as fresh as they can so
03:34 that they can play hard and play fast.
03:36 >> What was your impression of the car, especially at the beginning of the game?
03:39 It looked unblockable there for a stretch.
03:41 >> I tell you what, we've known he's had it in him.
03:45 He's shown it and shown it.
03:46 It was really, we're really excited for him to for it to happen in the game.
03:51 And he of course, he's been working his tail off.
03:53 He's done everything we've asked him to do since the day he got here.
03:56 And he's continuing to do that and now he's showing up on game day,
04:00 which is where we wanted to show up.
04:02 But really excited for the nail.
04:04 He puts in the work and the effort and it's really, really, really excited for
04:09 him that it's starting to pay off on game day.
04:12 >> When you reviewed the film of the Ohio State game versus a year ago,
04:16 how much difference did you see what you
