00:00 My name is Phil Lant, I'm a director of the Hunter's Rest Management Company
00:05 here on the A286 outside the Co-op.
00:10 I'm Jo Shaw, I'm chairman of the Somersdale Residents' Association, which is the whole area around the north end of Chichester.
00:16 And you can see behind us the section of the A286 that we are concerned about.
00:22 There are many large trucks here consistently parking, not today,
00:27 up on the pavement, which is both destroying the pavement and also creating a considerable traffic hazard for pedestrians
00:36 walking between Central Lavent and the Co-op here, as well as traffic emerging from the garage
00:42 and roads either side where the line of sight is blocked.
00:46 We're really looking to have some traffic management installed by West Sussex County Council,
00:52 some yellow lines and ideally some bollards to prevent people parking their trucks up on the pathway.
00:59 You can't stress enough how firstly it's very unsightly, awful, the pavement being like that,
01:08 but it's also very dangerous for people trying to come out of the road onto the main road
01:14 when their view is blocked by large lorries parked there.
