00:04 Thank you very much. Congratulations.
00:06 Yes.
00:07 Because you are part of the shows that we should be looking forward to.
00:14 Of course. We just watched "The Missing Husband".
00:18 There are many twists and turns.
00:22 This is like a rollercoaster.
00:24 Okay. And you're doing a movie with Dong and Marian.
00:26 Yes.
00:27 Congratulations.
00:28 Can we talk about that later?
00:30 We're live.
00:32 [laughs]
00:34 Okay.
00:35 You know, Joros started this because of "Star Trek Request".
00:40 Yes.
00:41 How old were you then?
00:43 19 years old.
00:45 19 years old.
00:46 And we started with you.
00:48 Do you remember when I told you, "Joros, you're like ice tea without ice."
00:53 But, Tito Boy, during the 19 years, I understood what you said.
00:58 Why am I ice tea without ice?
01:00 Because when ice melts, ice tea becomes thick.
01:04 [laughs]
01:05 I'm like a tea.
01:09 Tea is healthy.
01:11 And it's for everyday.
01:13 Okay.
01:14 It wakes you up.
01:15 But you know, in a serious conversation,
01:17 it's important for the industry that it's not enough to be just a tea.
01:20 You really need something.
01:22 You need something sweet.
01:23 You need to have a time that's not too sweet.
01:26 You need to have a time that's different so you can last in the industry.
01:31 And I'm just so proud that you've been in the industry for what?
01:33 19 years.
01:35 Yes.
01:36 Wow.
01:37 You're not ice tea without ice.
01:40 You're now the owner of ice tea.
01:42 I'm the owner of ice tea.
01:43 Yes, you're the owner.
01:45 What were you thinking during the time?
01:47 When you started, because I know you weren't that interested in being an artist back then.
01:51 Yes.
01:52 It's obvious.
01:53 That's why you always make me angry.
01:55 Correct.
01:56 I'm your number one enemy.
01:59 Because before, I was always complimenting artists.
02:02 You were always complimenting them.
02:04 I just wanted to be a model.
02:08 I just wanted to be a model.
02:10 I didn't have any emotions.
02:12 But at that time, I was going to the US to do nursing.
02:18 You wanted to be a nurse.
02:19 Yes, to be a nurse there.
02:21 So, it was just a game to me before.
02:24 But the industry grew on me.
02:28 But Joros, you're a good person.
02:32 Even when we didn't--
02:33 I, personally, didn't feel that you were being rude.
02:36 You were subtle, but you were always very pleasant and funny and elegant.
02:43 I'll go back to this.
02:44 Where did you get the talent to not want to be an artist because you were being bullied?
02:49 Because until now, there are schools that don't allow students to be artists.
02:54 There are parents who say, "I'll allow it, son.
02:57 You can be a model, but don't be an artist."
03:01 I don't know if this has been reduced, but these are truths.
03:06 Where did you get that talent?
03:07 For me, Uncle Boy, it was because I didn't have knowledge about the Philippine industry.
03:13 You were saying that because you didn't know what show business was all about.
03:16 Yes, I mean the Philippine industry itself.
03:18 I didn't know the artists.
03:21 So, you have that mentality that you only like Hollywood.
03:26 But what I learned, what I got into the industry, it's different.
03:30 It's deep and different culture.
03:32 You liked what you were doing.
03:33 Yes.
03:34 Okay.
03:35 2017, I think, was our last interview.
03:38 Do you know?
03:39 Was it 2017?
03:40 I know we had a round table interview.
03:42 It was a round table interview, but a one-on-one interview, I think, was sometime in 2017.
03:46 You were not yet married then.
03:48 You were, was it 2016?
03:50 I have a wife now.
03:51 You already have one?
03:52 But the child is still new.
03:54 The child is still new.
03:55 But anyway, in that conversation, I was proud of you because I know that in that particular interview,
04:00 I told you, "Joros, know in your heart that I am proud of you."
04:03 Do you know why?
04:05 Because first, you were brave, you were courageous in your past mistakes.
04:13 Yes.
04:14 But your handle was so good that it was like, "I will face this."
04:17 When everybody was running away from all these issues,
04:20 Joros was here and he was saying, "I made a mistake. I'm sorry. I will change."
04:25 Looking back, where were you in your life during that time?
04:30 And why were you so brave?
04:32 Actually, all the courage did not come from me.
04:36 It came from God.
04:39 The situation and circumstances, here in this world, we will have troubles in life.
04:47 God entered the picture.
04:51 The situation was different.
04:55 How you will face the situation.
04:59 How did that happen?
05:01 Was it because of God's entry?
05:04 I mean, God has always been part of our lives.
05:06 But how did it happen?
05:08 There was a time when you were empty, no matter what you do.
05:13 The worldly things will not be able to fill your heart.
05:19 Tony Gonzaga mentioned this to me.
05:22 He said, "What completes your heart?"
05:25 Of course, we have different answers.
05:26 Family, health, and so on.
05:29 He said, "There is no wrong answer."
05:31 But what I can say is, the only one that can complete your heart is the one who created it.
05:36 So, that's what struck me.
05:38 We humans always strive for happiness.
05:46 We always pursue happiness.
05:48 But happiness is based on happenings.
05:50 You are happy, you are healthy now.
05:52 You are happy, your mother is alive.
05:54 You are happy, you have a love life, you have a job.
05:56 But what if you are sick?
05:59 Your family member died.
06:01 So, what we need is not happiness.
06:05 Joy.
06:06 Joy is from within.
06:08 And true joy is what we get from God.
06:13 Which is, circumstances and situations cannot be changed.
06:18 Now that you've been consistent in your life,
06:21 when there are weaknesses, temptations, what do you do?
06:25 Before, I used to fight against temptations.
06:28 But it's not like that.
06:30 I should run.
06:32 Because before, when there are temptations…
06:33 You should run far away.
06:34 Yes, far away.
06:35 Not close.
06:36 Because you might run too close.
06:37 What does it mean when you say, "I fight against temptations"?
06:42 It's not that you fight against it, you run away.
06:45 So, don't go to the situation.
06:48 Because it's like a downhill.
06:50 You stop when you're already here.
06:53 Because when you're already in the middle,
06:55 it's hard to stop.
06:57 Right.
06:58 And that's really beautiful.
07:00 And how's life?
07:02 How are you doing today?
07:04 Very good.
07:05 Because I'm really devoted to my family.
07:07 Devoted to your two kids, right?
07:10 What I discovered in our life is that once you know
07:16 that your life, our life, is not for us,
07:20 it's not for God,
07:22 you will be selfless.
07:24 And once you're selfless, you start giving.
07:27 And not everything you do is for yourself.
07:30 And it's better to feel that way.
07:32 Yes.
07:33 Joros, how do you reconcile?
07:35 For example, because what I'm hearing right now is
07:38 here's a young man who's godly,
07:40 who discovered, not that he discovered,
07:42 but built a relationship with God in his life
07:46 and it was a beautiful thing that happened.
07:49 But when you're asked to play a role like a scammer
07:51 in "The Missing Husband,"
07:53 that apparently, I mean obviously,
07:56 it doesn't believe in what the Lord is teaching,
08:00 how do you reconcile that?
08:01 How do you become a scammer in, for example,
08:04 "The Missing Husband,"
08:05 and in real life, the center of your life is God?
08:10 You know what is right and wrong.
08:13 It's different in real life.
08:15 As an actor, do you have a role?
08:20 Because actors are not supposed to judge their roles.
08:23 Yes, of course.
08:24 You shouldn't judge.
08:26 But you don't have any sort of,
08:28 "Do I do this?
08:29 Do I actually give space in my life
08:32 and the life thoughts of a scammer?"
08:36 Yeah, of course.
08:37 Someone has to portray the bad guy.
08:39 And in a show, what's important is what is the message
08:42 of the whole show.
08:44 Of the whole thing?
08:45 Yes, not just the character and the scene.
08:48 In a game, it's like parables.
08:51 There's a message, either in a scene or as a whole.
08:56 So, as a scammer,
08:58 my treatment here is how the scammers,
09:02 or of course, for the viewers,
09:05 what are the memories of a scammer?
09:09 I just asked because there are actors who would say,
09:12 "I don't want to portray that role.
09:14 It's against my beliefs.
09:16 I don't want to get into that role
09:18 because it's against my beliefs."
09:20 That's not going to happen to you?
09:22 It depends with the whole.
09:24 What is the message of the whole.
09:26 Okay, alright.
