00:00 But Mothra as well, she's got that weird thing.
00:07 So hopefully she's just chilling in a cocoon somewhere, vibing out.
00:11 A cocoon?
00:26 It's such anticipation, obviously when you both signed on, there's a lot of things that
00:31 swim through an actor's mind when it's like Godzilla vs. Kong.
00:35 Did you have a personal favorite to win already pegged?
00:38 And did the movie script change your opinion at all on who you thought should have won?
00:42 No, for sure.
00:46 I'm team Godzilla, but I love King Kong, so I remember first reading the script.
00:50 Obviously scripts change as you go along in the movie, and even during filming they change.
00:55 So the movie, I guess the way it was edited and everything, it does change.
01:00 But for me, I really was rooting for King Kong, but I was also rooting for Godzilla.
01:05 It was a bit of back and forth, I'm not really set in stone who I'm rooting for, but they
01:11 have a nice bromance.
01:12 I did not, I didn't have a specific, I was curious, I was definitely curious of how are
01:17 they going to mash up these two worlds.
01:21 But I think that through the movie and throughout filming it, I mean obviously I became really
01:25 close to the Kong story side of it.
01:28 So I love Kong, and I'm team Kong.
01:31 That's nice to hear because I can't choose, but it's not easy to side against either of
01:37 them, and Kong is just so warm and adorable.
01:39 He's fuzzy, he's fuzzy.
01:41 The other one feels like if I hugged him, it'd give me a rash.
01:44 Oh, team Kong, all the way.
01:48 Getting a lot of that today.
01:49 I'm kind of, I mean I'm neutral, but I like hearing that.
01:53 Yeah, really?
01:54 Well, we're closer to that guy, you know what I mean?
01:57 Sometimes we behave like lizards, but we're more like a Kong type of it.
02:02 He has feelings, you can see his feelings.
02:04 That's a beautiful thing about this film, and every film about this guy.
02:11 He has feelings, you can sense that, you can see that, you can feel him.
02:14 I mean I have to, I am on team Kong.
02:17 There is no dividing myself from that now, so I cannot say anything other than I've always
02:22 been team Kong, and I will continue to be team Kong.
02:27 That's absolutely fair and on brand because Dr. Eileen Andrews, her relationship both
02:32 with Jia and Kong is just this really nurturing through line that, you know, yeah, you've
02:37 got buildings smashing all over the place, but it's just really beautiful to see that
02:41 heart there.
02:42 Yeah, I think that's true.
02:43 I mean, I think that was the intention, so it's nice to hear.
02:47 Yeah, I think, you know, I think there was a real effort in this version of Kong to not
02:52 have his relationships with humans be a sort of, you know, historically he's generally
02:59 had a crush on a lady, and or tried to save a damsel in distress, which, you know, I think
03:04 we've seen that narrative probably enough times.
03:06 So this version, it was, you know, we wanted, they, you know, the people who made the film
03:12 and the writers wanted it to be his relationship to be with a girl who, a young girl, and also,
03:20 you know, the lady, the scientist who's looking after him.
03:23 So it's kind of, it's kind of a weird family unit with, you know, just a giant child ape
03:28 Kong person.
03:29 Sir, man with a hat.
03:32 Yeah.
03:33 We need Kong.
03:36 The world needs him.
03:39 To stop what's coming.
03:41 Millie, how did it feel to come back to Madison after all this time?
03:46 And how do you think she's changed since Godzilla King of the Monsters?
03:50 It was really nice coming back to her, just being able to finish off that character.
03:54 It feels right to me to kind of continue to evolve Madison.
04:00 Did you see that pause in my brain?
04:05 My brain went, pause Mills.
04:06 We'll clean it up.
04:07 We'll clean it up.
04:08 Thank you.
04:09 No, it's fine.
04:10 You can keep it in there.
04:11 And going back to that character was really nice.
04:16 She's changed quite a bit.
04:17 You know, she's, her mother passed away.
04:20 So she's just kind of trying to carry on her belief system, which is preserve nature, take
04:26 care of your environment, take care of the animals in it.
04:28 So she's really taken that seriously, that role.
04:31 And she's almost trying to become her mother again.
04:34 Now your character, Maya Simmons, is part of this heavy hitter family in the anti-Titan
04:39 market running Apex, being real bosses.
04:43 And especially the first moment Maya comes out, she's just got this take charge attitude
04:47 that it's fantastic.
04:49 Like I love the, you can be impressed sort of line.
04:52 She's terrible.
04:53 So annoying.
04:54 And it feels like there might be, there's a little more to the Simmons than we see on
05:00 screen.
05:01 Was there any pieces of backstory that were cut from the film or that you can contribute?
05:06 Oh.
05:07 Yeah, I mean, the movie changes a lot at the end of the day, you know, the movie is Godzilla
05:11 versus Kong, not the Simmons or anyone else.
05:15 But it was, you know, it was important to convey their story and we had to adjust throughout
05:21 the script and a lot of things happened.
05:23 But I think I'm really happy with the outcome.
05:26 I think that ultimately each and one of the characters really serve a purpose in the film
05:33 to support their stories.
05:34 Because the main stories is like really knowing what's going on with Kong, what's going on
05:37 with Godzilla and why are we going here and why are they doing certain things?
05:41 Now, I was talking with Eiza earlier and just mentioning the whole Simmons family dynamic
05:46 and how it feels like there's some stuff that was kind of, there's more to them under the
05:51 surface that we haven't gotten to see.
05:53 I was wondering what your favorite piece of backstory that was cut from the film was.
05:58 Well, basically, we were very close together and I always wanted a son.
06:07 But then, you know, we had a girl.
06:09 But this girl is like, it's not your usual everyday girl.
06:14 She is a fighter, you know, she's feisty.
06:17 So she became a great pilot and she's an adventurer and she's a great warrior.
06:23 You know, she's my pride.
06:24 And it was cool.
06:25 It was really cool to be able to work with, you know, with Damien V. Chiere, even though
06:30 I didn't get to be with him on set.
06:32 But it was cool and I respect him so much as an actor.
06:34 So I was really happy that there was also a possibility to have two Mexicans in one
06:39 movie and not to be a big thing.
06:42 Or to have to excuse her nationality, which is great.
06:45 Yeah.
06:46 I mean, normally this would be like you saw in Godzilla, King of the Monsters, you saw
06:50 like Charles Dance being like the very arch sort of British villain.
06:54 And then you jumped to Godzilla vs. Kong and it's just this burst of diversity with all
06:58 these characters.
06:59 And it was just beautiful to see.
07:00 Yeah, that's what I really liked about the way that Adam approached the script and Legendary
07:06 and Warner Brothers together.
07:08 They just cared about creating a world that felt real.
07:12 And that was one of the first appeals to me was like, beautiful to read a script that
07:17 I could see people from all over the world that looked very different.
07:21 And yet it wasn't a conversation or something that it was weird.
07:24 It just felt organic and natural.
07:26 It felt like the story.
07:28 And it allowed for people to see themselves on screen and feel like they could be part
07:32 of that world.
07:33 Because growing up, watching big movies like this, for me, that wasn't a possibility.
07:38 You know, there wasn't like a lot of Latinos in these films or Mexicans in these films.
07:42 So the fact that I get to be part of like a little tiny bit of these films makes me
07:46 feel really proud and happy.
07:48 And then was there anything else about Walter that we're missing here?
07:51 Because he gets that he starts his speech and then gets cut off.
07:54 Yeah.
07:55 Plays him off.
07:56 But what was your favorite part that we didn't get to see for Walter?
07:59 I'll tell you what the saddest part of that is.
08:03 There was a great piano concert coming after that.
08:06 Ah!
08:07 Courtesy of Simmons, because people don't know this, but he's a great piano player.
08:13 Is that like a really, are you fooling with me?
08:15 Or is that really something from the character?
08:16 It is something real.
08:18 And hopefully there will be like a prequel where we will see that in the next Godzilla
08:24 and Kong.
08:26 And that's the side that, you know, made A.C.E.'s mother fell in love with Simmons.
08:33 Command Performance, the Walter Simmons story.
08:35 I love it.
08:36 The myths are real.
08:37 There was a war.
08:38 And they're the last ones standing.
08:46 Last question.
08:47 Where's Mothra?
08:49 I don't know.
08:50 You sure?
08:51 I don't know.
08:52 All right.
08:53 I'll buy that.
08:54 All right.
08:55 No spoilers.
08:56 Come on.
08:58 Where's Mothra?
08:59 I don't, I, I, this is not my, it's not my business.
09:05 I'm just Kong.
09:06 This has got nothing to do with, it's beyond my job description.
09:09 I have no idea.
09:13 No one knows where Mothra is, man.
09:16 You know, I, I have no idea.
09:18 Where do you guys think Mothra is right now?
09:20 Like.
09:21 Mothra is such a queen.
09:23 Let me tell you, Mike.
09:25 She has no time for this boy drama.
09:28 I mean, get over yourselves with the fighting.
09:31 Nobody cares anymore.
09:32 Mothra's like, "Tell 'em, boy."
09:34 But I'm like, yeah, that's how I feel, Mike.
09:37 That's how I feel.
09:38 Julian, where do you think Mothra is?
09:41 So I have three fears in life.
09:44 Okay, I have zombies.
09:46 Here we go.
09:47 Be prepared.
09:48 Wolves, people judging me, and moths.
09:51 I feel like moths are the ugly cousin of the butterfly.
09:55 They're furry.
09:57 They're just furry, they're furry butterflies.
10:01 They have weird little hairs.
10:04 They're attracted to light.
10:05 So you're at night and you have a lamp on, there's always moths around.
10:08 If you live, you know, out in the bush.
10:10 But Mothra, as well, she's got that weird thing.
10:16 So hopefully she's just chilling in a cocoon somewhere, vibing out.
10:19 Who?
10:20 A cocoon?
10:21 Okay.
10:22 All right.
10:23 Mike, take mine.
10:24 Kong bows to no one.
10:28 Here we go.
10:31 [Zombie moans]
