It will be a straight fight for the party's top post as MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong and former central committee member Tan Chong Seng are vying for the post of MCA president in the party polls later this month.

00:14 The nomination process for the party post at Wisma MCA went on smoothly on Monday,
00:20 with 153 members eyeing 93 positions in the main body,
00:25 as well as the Wanita and Youth Wings.
00:28 MCA is a democratic party, as I said,
00:32 that we have not passed any resolution to stop anyone to contest.
00:36 That shows the democracy in our party.
00:39 So, after the nomination, from 1 to 5pm,
00:45 I think after 5pm, it was announced that there are two contenders for the same post,
00:50 then there must be an election.
00:52 So I think we have to face it for the next 14 days.

01:22 Four candidates for Wanita Vice-Chairman post also won uncontested.
01:28 In the main body, seven candidates are running for the four Vice-President posts,
01:34 with incumbents Tatok Tan Teck Ching, Tatok Lim Ban Hong and Tatok Sri Tee Lian Ke
01:40 taking on challenges from Central Committee Member Tatok Sri Dr V Jack Singh,
01:45 Deputy Treasurer General Tatok Lawrence Lau,
01:48 Youth Chief Tatok Nicole Wong Seow Ting and Wanita Vice-Chairman Dr Pamela Yeung.
01:55 One of the incumbent Vice-Presidents, Tatok Sri Yew Tiong Lok, is not contesting.
02:02 A total of 48 others are vying for the 25 Central Party Committee posts.
02:08 In the Wanita wing, Wong Yiu Fong is defending her Chairman post
02:12 against Tatok Uy Siu Kim who is Penang Wanita Chief.
02:17 In the Youth wing, three candidates are contesting the top post
02:21 after Wong passed the eligible age of 40.
02:25 The candidates are Yong Ping Assemblyman and Johor State Executive Councillor Ling Tien Soon,
02:31 Youth Secretary-General Daniel Wa Wai How and Bernard Chan Kee Siang from the Klang Division.
02:38 MCA Secretary-General Tatok Chong Sim Woon said the introduction of candidates
02:43 and campaign activities would kick off on a national scale Monday night,
02:47 with the federal territories MCA taking the lead in the meeting.
02:52 He said the profiles of all candidates will be made available on the party website
02:57 to facilitate the voting process for members.
03:01 Polling for the Wanita and Youth wings falls on September 23,
03:05 followed by elections in the main body on September 24.
03:10 The party posts will involve over 5,000 central delegates
03:14 and more than 52,700 divisional delegates.
03:18 A total of 160 polling stations will be set up nationwide for the Central Committee election.
