New nail salon ME Beauty opens in Northlight Offices

Mayah Mcdonagh and Evie Little have opened their own nail salon and business is already booming.

00:00 I worked at a women's refuge and then joined a safeguarding team.

00:04 Whilst on that safeguarding team they did a night school in nails and beauty.

00:09 So I jumped on that course and I just absolutely loved it.

00:13 And it came to the time where I was juggling both and I really needed to give my full attention to one.

00:18 So I thought I'd give beauty a go and it's really paid off.

00:23 I left college, it was around lockdown time so it wasn't amazing at college.

00:29 And I just knew I wanted to do something else, beauty wise.

00:32 And all my family and all my friends and Rachel, I was a Saturday girl at Rachel's show hairdressing in Barrowford.

00:37 And she said, "I can see you doing nails Eva."

00:40 So I was like, "Yeah, course, I'll do it."

00:43 And then I did a course in lockdown and then straight away after lockdown I went in and started doing it at Rachel's salon.

00:49 And then I was there for two and a half years and then came here in May.

00:54 I love the location we're in now.

00:56 I feel like it's really good potential for new clients with it being a business centre as well.

01:01 And I just love working with Eva.

01:03 I started going to her for nails in October and we just clicked from the start really.

01:09 Everything about us is the same and we just kept saying to each other it would be so amazing to have somewhere together.

01:16 So we decided to do that and then took the step.

01:19 We've got our names down on a room double the size of the one we're in now.

01:23 It's just across the corridor so not far for clients to go at all.

01:27 But yeah, and hopefully we'll have a training academy in the future.

01:30 We're so busy.

01:32 All the time we're getting bookings all the way up till Christmas so far.

01:36 And people are wanting to book in for next year already.

01:39 It's just so busy and so grateful.

01:41 My advice is if you want something, you can achieve it.

01:45 You've just got to put in the hard work, put in the long hours at the start.

01:50 And kind of not forget about your social life but kind of just focus on what you want and what you want to achieve and you will get there.
