Nick Saban talks about Steve Sarkisian and second chances
Transcript
00:00 >> I bet you had Steve Sarkis on your staff twice here, once as an analyst,
00:02 once as an offensive coordinator.
00:04 What do you think he does so well as an offensive line?
00:06 >> Well, I think Sark is one of the best coaches we've ever been around when it
00:12 comes to offense.
00:13 He's got a great disposition with the players, he's a really good teacher.
00:16 He's got a great understanding of the game, really understands defense and
00:20 how to attack defenses, but has some really good concepts on offense that are
00:25 hard to defend, understands how to present them in different ways.
00:30 So that maybe whatever you practiced, it doesn't really come up that way in
00:33 the game, which makes it more difficult for defensive players.
00:37 But Sark did a great job here for us, and he's doing a great job at Texas,
00:43 and it's gonna be a very challenging game.
00:45 They've recruited well, they coach well, and they've got good players, and
00:49 they're well coached.
00:50 >> Two to finish up, Oscar and then Kurt.
00:53 >> Hello, coach.
00:55 How was that moment of decision when you extend your hand to Steve Sarkisian and
01:01 give him a second chance?
01:03 Thanks so much.
01:04 Gracias.
01:04 >> I like giving people second chances.
01:16 I think their willingness to try to do the right things and
01:23 whatever their mistakes were, they're trying to fix it and
01:28 look for an opportunity.
01:31 And when Sark was here the first time, he did such a good job.
01:37 There was no question about the fact that we'd love to have him back a second time.
01:40 He represented the program well, he's first class in every way.
01:46 So I'm glad that I gave him a second chance.
01:54 I'm glad that he came here, whether it was an analyst or
01:58 whatever, proved that he can do a good job.
02:02 And went on to Atlanta to be the coordinator and
02:06 came back here to be the coordinator, so he did great.
