00:03 Entertainment Tonight presents
00:04 E.T. Vault Unlocked, Jennifer Aniston.
00:07 That's me.
00:08 Oh, geez.
00:09 (laughing)
00:10 With never before seen interviews
00:12 that span four decades.
00:14 This is a result of bad plastic surgery.
00:17 Opening up about her life before fame.
00:19 I got good tips, I like meeting the people.
00:21 Her first big break.
00:23 This is not real life.
00:26 This does not happen.
00:27 And becoming a favorite friend on TV and off.
00:31 Sorry, I'm just being interviewed
00:32 and you know what, I can't concentrate.
00:35 Sorry, we just gotta get through.
00:37 (laughing)
00:38 She inspires me every day.
00:39 Every day. She's incredible, yeah.
00:41 Plus, stories behind her movie roles.
00:43 Just goes to show, being on a good show.
00:45 What it'll do for you.
00:47 And real life romances.
00:49 I'll run into Jen, she's a good friend.
00:51 Let all the secrets come out.
00:52 This is E.T. Vault Unlocked, Jennifer Aniston.
00:56 (upbeat music)
00:59 I'm thankful for this unbelievable life that I have.
01:03 She's everyone's favorite friend.
01:05 (upbeat music)
01:07 And for almost three decades now,
01:09 Jennifer Aniston has stolen America's heart.
01:12 She inspires me every day.
01:13 Oh, every day. She's incredible, yeah.
01:15 Oh, well, isn't that just lovely?
01:18 Jennifer Aniston is everything
01:22 that you would ever hope she would be.
01:23 She's won an Emmy.
01:25 Wow, thank you.
01:26 Thank you.
01:28 A Golden Globe and eight People's Choice Awards.
01:31 Life is so good.
01:32 Oh, yeah, I mean, I feel just so lucky
01:34 that I keep getting invited back.
01:36 And in just nine days,
01:38 Jen's back for season three of The Morning Show,
01:40 and we're giddy about what looks like romance
01:43 between her character and Jon Hamm's.
01:45 Honestly, let all the secrets come out.
01:47 Do you have more scenes with Reese or Jen?
01:50 I think I could say I have more scenes with Jen.
01:53 Yep, Jon joins a list of impressive
01:55 leading men opposite Jen.
01:57 Hi, I'm Rachel Green.
01:58 Oh, I remember you.
02:00 There she is with her ex, Brad Pitt, of course,
02:03 and with another love, Justin Theroux.
02:05 They met in 2007, but reconnected
02:07 on the set of 2011's Wanderlust.
02:10 My first impression when I heard Jennifer
02:11 is how spontaneous she is.
02:13 Spontaneous and down to earth,
02:15 but the real secret to Jen's success?
02:17 She seems a lot like someone either you're,
02:19 you know, marrying to, you know, family with,
02:22 wanna date, dating, you know,
02:23 she's got a little bit of the every woman in her,
02:25 which is nice.
02:26 Jen's also celebrated for her signature style,
02:28 classic black on red carpets.
02:31 (upbeat music)
02:32 And her fit physique.
02:34 How'd she do it?
02:34 Just work out, take care of yourself, eat well,
02:38 and you know, I'm very disciplined.
02:41 As for cheat days?
02:42 Pasta, pizza, Mexican food.
02:47 Jen's also a player in the beauty game.
02:49 We were there when she launched her first perfume in 2011.
02:52 Of all the things that you sort of get approached
02:54 about this one sort of felt like organic and right.
02:59 Businesswoman, film star, endorsements,
03:01 all those residuals from friends.
03:03 Jen is worth an estimated 320 million.
03:06 And fans love her so much, when she joined Instagram,
03:09 Jen got a record breaking one million followers
03:12 in just five hours.
03:13 Did you think you were gonna break Instagram, seriously?
03:16 Did you fix it?
03:17 I did, I said I'd pay for it.
03:19 I said I'll pay for it, I'll fix it.
03:21 Well, Jen is also of course part of a Hollywood dynasty.
03:25 Her dad is late Days of Our Lives legend, John Aniston.
03:28 Her godfather, Telly Savalas.
03:31 And Jen is very proud of her Greek heritage.
03:34 Being a little Greek girl, I danced a lot of Greek dances,
03:37 so I was, you know, and took class in school.
03:40 (upbeat music)
03:42 That school, LaGuardia High School,
03:46 the one depicted in the movie Fame.
03:48 And before rising to her own mega fame in the early 90s,
03:52 Jennifer did plenty of odd jobs.
03:54 There have been a few.
03:56 Telemarketing in like West LA was pretty brutal.
04:00 Before babysitting, I used to go buy groceries
04:03 for the little old lady that lived down the hall for me
04:06 on my floor.
04:08 But her favorite part time gig, waitress.
04:11 I got good tips, I got, I liked meeting the people,
04:14 it was just fun, I actually had a good time.
04:17 And I worked at a fun place too,
04:18 it wasn't a very, it was very casual burger joints.
04:22 This is not real life.
04:25 This does not happen.
04:27 That's Jen's first ET interview back in 1990
04:30 on the set of one of her first TV roles,
04:32 playing Ferris Bueller's sister
04:34 in the short-lived TV series adaptation.
04:37 Everyone's gonna be comparing it.
04:39 You can just like go a little bit overboard
04:40 and make it really crazy.
04:42 Makes it more fun for you.
04:43 I can't laugh too hard, it'll pop off my face.
04:46 Well, she did find the outrageous and funny
04:49 on the sketch comedy show, The Edge in 1992,
04:52 rocking an extra nose for one skit as she talked to ET.
04:56 This is a result of bad plastic surgery.
04:59 It's not often that you have an opportunity
05:01 to be this creative and free and look like an idiot.
05:06 I had been sort of caught in this stereotype
05:10 of playing like the sister or the girl next door
05:13 or the girlfriend of.
05:16 Unfortunately, the show was canceled after one season,
05:18 but that year, Jen landed her first major film role
05:21 in Leprechaun, followed by another sitcom,
05:24 CBS's Muddling Through, playing the offspring of an ex-con.
05:28 This is my other daughter, Madeline.
05:30 Enjoy everything.
05:32 Enjoy what's in front of you.
05:35 It just gets better.
05:36 Case in point, that series didn't pan out,
05:39 but during its 10-episode run, Jen found herself
05:42 in the mix for a show called Friends.
05:45 With tail between my legs, hat in hand,
05:48 went to the producer of the show I was on,
05:50 and I said, please release me from this show.
05:55 I love this show that I'm doing right now.
05:57 Nothing against your show.
05:59 I just love these people, and I am having so much fun.
06:03 And he said, he goes, I saw that show.
06:07 I'm gonna tell you something.
06:08 That show's not gonna make you a star.
06:10 (audience laughs)
06:11 (upbeat music)
06:13 Nope, it made her an A-lister and a household name.
06:17 You're French in America?
06:18 I'm sorry, I'm just being interviewed,
06:19 and you know what, I can't concentrate.
06:21 Sorry, we just gotta get through.
06:24 (laughs)
06:26 September 1994 was ET's first visit on the Friends set,
06:35 16 days before the show's debut.
06:37 Over the next two decades, no other show
06:39 got to spend more time with this cast than we did.
06:43 Nice.
06:44 10 years, 236 episodes, until this day,
06:47 they're six friends we can't live without.
06:50 It's one of the most watched series on Max,
06:52 nearly two decades after the crew took their final bows.
06:56 Feels like yesterday, we all gathered together
06:59 and watched the premiere of the pilot.
07:02 Rachel?
07:04 Oh God, Monica, hi, thank God.
07:07 Jen and Courtney Cox auditioned
07:08 for each other's parts before convincing producers
07:11 of a role swap, and we can't talk Friends
07:14 without mentioning the Rachel haircut.
07:16 My hair was a mistake to begin with,
07:19 so the fact that people are flipping about it
07:21 is so kind of ironic.
07:23 I really did enjoy it when it first happened.
07:24 I was like, that's really different
07:26 from what I've ever had before.
07:28 And it lasted for about six months.
07:30 Jen's star power lasted way longer,
07:32 winning an Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG for the role,
07:35 but the solidarity among the actors was unmatched.
07:38 They negotiated a historic million bucks each per episode
07:42 after threatening to go on strike during the second season.
07:44 There was that weird backlash period
07:47 where they gave us all a hard time,
07:50 and aren't we bratty, little spoiled actors?
07:52 We wanted to be paid the same
07:53 'cause we felt that was fair,
07:55 and putting in the same amount of work,
07:57 and it was kind of something we believed in.
08:00 And when they reunited two years ago,
08:02 they were reportedly paid 2.5 million each.
08:05 We've literally just slipped right back.
08:07 Aw!
08:08 What was it about this experience with these people
08:10 that bonded you like it did?
08:12 All I can say is that there was something
08:15 that was laid down at the very, very beginning
08:19 that we instantly, it was in our DNA that we were family,
08:22 we were going to take care of each other.
08:24 I love you guys so much.
08:26 Friends certainly helped open doors for Jen in Hollywood.
08:29 I guess it just goes to show, being on a good show,
08:31 what it'll do for you.
08:33 Hi there.
08:34 Respect.
08:36 That's easy for you to say, Holden, you are not married.
08:38 While Jen established she could do comedy,
08:40 she wanted to prove she also had range.
08:43 Enter "The Good Girl" with Jake Gyllenhaal.
08:45 You get stuck and known as something,
08:48 it's sort of this bittersweet,
08:50 you know, it's the best job I've ever had,
08:52 and yet, you know, we're actors,
08:54 and we wanna go out and be actors,
08:58 act, play somebody else.
09:01 God, I still honestly think I belong here.
09:05 Really, you know what I mean?
09:06 We need to talk about your flair.
09:08 Really?
09:09 I have 15 pieces on.
09:11 Playing a waitress in an office space was not a big stretch,
09:15 but her role as a pregnant social worker
09:17 alongside Paul Rudd in "The Object of My Affection"
09:20 was a bit trickier.
09:21 E.T. was on set in 1997.
09:23 It's sort of like the way ducks walk.
09:25 Your feet are a little wider apart.
09:26 A little wider apart than you stand,
09:29 and then you'll turn around,
09:30 and your feet are always a little wider.
09:32 It looks like the Miss America pageant out there.
09:35 Thank you.
09:36 From beauty queen to makeout queen,
09:38 that's Jen with Owen Wilson,
09:40 a long-haired Mark Wahlberg,
09:41 and Jim Carrey in her biggest box office hit,
09:44 the $485 million Bruce Almighty.
09:47 You can't take a scene like that too seriously.
09:49 It's hysterical.
09:50 Owen loves you, baby.
09:53 Just three years later, Jen stripped down
09:55 for her then-boyfriend Vince Vaughn in "The Breakup."
09:58 That's me.
09:59 There's no body double.
10:00 No.
10:01 No back double.
10:02 I'm pretty horrifying.
10:03 You know, they did, thankfully,
10:05 from the back shot that they did,
10:06 it was cut right at the, you know.
10:08 I'm good.
10:09 I think you know what I want.
10:11 Jen really pushed the envelope
10:12 as a crazed sex addict in "The Horrible Bosses" franchise.
10:16 Hi, boys.
10:17 Julia, I'm not gonna sleep with you.
10:19 We'll see about that.
10:20 Usually the man's role in a film,
10:22 so that was really fun to kind of just be one of the guys.
10:27 Those guys include Jason Sudeikis
10:30 and her real-life bestie, Jason Bateman.
10:32 She's done five films with each of them.
10:35 Hi!
10:36 She's just got really good timing
10:37 in whatever she does and really funny lady.
10:40 They're so different.
10:41 The biggest difference.
10:42 Shoe size.
10:43 Shoe size, about two inches.
10:46 Four, four, size four feet.
10:47 And a Nike sneaker collection.
10:49 Size four feet.
10:50 Jason Sudeikis.
10:50 That's amazing.
10:51 It's not true.
10:53 And when it comes to Jen's co-stars,
10:54 we can't forget the Sandman.
10:56 There's nothing bad about Anderson.
10:57 Nothing bad about him.
10:58 No, we love each other.
11:00 Jen and Adam Sandler's chemistry was first on display
11:02 in "Just Go With It."
11:03 Back in 2010, E.T. crashed the Hawaii set.
11:06 We've been friends for, I would say, 21 years.
11:10 How did you first meet?
11:11 We, we--
11:12 Jerry's Deli.
11:13 Jerry's Deli.
11:14 We were a bunch of friends.
11:14 Mutual friends.
11:15 We shared meals together.
11:16 I watched Anderson eat.
11:17 What did you eat, pickles?
11:19 I, I don't, I love pickles.
11:21 I love this girl.
11:24 My wife loves this girl.
11:26 The entire world loves this girl.
11:30 Adam and Jen would go on to star in "Murder Mystery"
11:32 and its sequel.
11:33 Jen recently revealed the two share such a strong bond
11:36 that Adam and his wife send her flowers every year
11:39 on Mother's Day because they know of her past struggles
11:42 to get pregnant.
11:43 That sort of gives new meaning to this Q&A back in March
11:46 when the pair stopped by to spill the E.T.
11:48 If you were to leave the industry tomorrow,
11:51 what will we find you doing?
11:52 I wish I was a doctor.
11:54 Huh.
11:55 Wish I could fix things that were,
11:56 if someone was aching that I,
11:58 so I think I'd go after that.
11:59 Well, I feel like we've spilled something.
12:01 Our heart, our soul.
12:03 We gave our heart and soul out to it and--
12:05 We did for E.T. because E.T.'s always been nice to us.
12:07 'Cause E.T.'s been there for us forever and ever and ever.
12:09 Literally.
12:10 (upbeat music)
12:13 [BLANK_AUDIO]
