00:00 We got together and immediately it felt like we'd been working together for a long time.
00:05 There's a common vocabulary.
00:06 Do I have a man behind me?
00:08 You do.
00:09 I'm just kidding.
00:10 I'm just kidding.
00:11 I'm just kidding.
00:12 My spot's okay.
00:13 He's a little silly.
00:16 Okay, say goodnight Gracie.
00:19 Goodnight Gracie.
00:21 If this show isn't funny, we're dead.
00:29 Beep, beep, beep.
00:31 Is that the money truck backing up?
00:33 Sorry, keep going.
00:34 Grace doesn't want any.
00:35 Grace doesn't want any, thank you.
00:37 I had the part about a month before they actually had a Grace.
00:40 So I got to audition with a lot of other Graces and it was just amazing to see, you know,
00:45 how just, what, chemistry is something usually that other people have to tell you you have.
00:49 You guys have chemistry.
00:50 In Debra's case I think it was pretty clear.
00:52 She walked in the room and we both just thought, this feels right.
00:55 She was laughing at my stuff, I was laughing at hers.
00:57 But these are the rules.
00:59 This is between Harlan and me.
01:01 You set it up and you walk away.
01:03 Spaghetti goes flying, right?
01:06 You set it up and you walk away.
01:10 I play Grace.
01:11 I'm heterosexual and Will is gay.
01:15 We just totally understand each other and can finish each other's sentences
01:20 and are incredibly playful with each other and can call each other on things
01:24 when we're sort of messing around.
01:27 And we're living together for the first time.
01:29 We both just got out of relationships.
01:31 And it's new for us, even though we've been friends for a really long time,
01:36 living together is new for us.
01:38 So it's funny.
01:40 I think that there's a lot to explore when you have people living together
01:44 who know each other incredibly well.
01:46 Professionally, you know, she's really passionate about what she does,
01:49 and I think I am too.
01:51 But she's not nearly as organized in her personal life,
01:54 and that's something that is definitely true of me.
01:56 But I think that I sort of--if you magnify that 100,000 times
02:01 towards disorganization, that's pretty much the land that I live in.
02:06 I'm trying to learn from Grace.
02:09 Grace, Jack hates flavored coffees too.
02:12 Really?
02:13 Yeah.
02:14 Jack, so do I.
02:16 Yeah, Will just told me that a minute ago.
02:18 [laughter]
02:21 Jack McFarland!
02:22 Jack.
02:23 Shut up, Grace is asleep.
02:25 Well, wake her up, I've got big news.
02:27 Just the four of us are really having just a great time,
02:30 and we really laugh a lot at each other's stuff.
02:33 We have two gay characters, they're very different.
02:35 They still don't represent all of the gay men out there,
02:38 but they do represent two different kinds.
02:42 Jack is a lot more out, he's a lot more stereotypical perhaps.
02:48 Maybe that means he's a lot more comfortable, I don't know.
02:51 Will is the kind of guy you'd play basketball with for 6, 7 weeks.
02:54 You wouldn't necessarily know he was gay.
02:57 He's still proud, he's still--it's not an issue for him.
03:01 Being gay is not an issue for him,
03:03 hence it's not really an issue for the show yet.
