00:00 New Zealander batsman Finn Allen stamped his authority on the current T20 series with 83
00:07 at Edgbaston on Sunday to push the visitors on to get their first win and make the final
00:12 game at Trent Bridge that bit more interesting. After a fairly quiet series until he took
00:18 on the wicket in Birmingham, Allen believes that he's been slowly working towards a game-winning
00:23 display with the bat.
00:25 Yeah, it's been frustrating I guess. The last six weeks I've got a lot of starts and haven't
00:29 been able to kick on so yeah, it's a sick one out and bat D was quite nice for a change
00:35 yeah. Yeah, I think I've changed a little bit my method against spin a little bit of
00:39 the way I want to approach it so it's nice to have that come off against probably one
00:43 of the world's best spinners so yeah, it was good yeah.
00:47 The visitors showed huge signs of improvement at Edgbaston comparing it to the first two
00:52 games where they found themselves trailing 2-0. So was there anything specific that they
00:57 put their valiant performance down to?
01:01 I think it's just something we do well as a side, coming into every game with a fresh
01:05 mindset and I guess coming back to what our roles are and nailing them as individuals
01:11 to create a team performance was crucial for us today and I think it worked well yeah.
01:17 Looking ahead to the final of the T20 series and the upcoming ODIs where England face off
01:22 with New Zealand again, is it a case of repeating their display at Edgbaston or can the visitors
01:27 now try something different now they know what they're capable of?
01:32 Yeah, I think as I said we'll probably come into it looking to have a fresh start and
01:37 wipe this game, take the positives and learn from the rest but as I said I think we do
01:42 that well, coming into every game with a fresh mindset and just try and nail our roles.
01:48 Former England international and current England batting coach Marcus Triscothic touched on
01:52 England's batting selection ahead of the Cricket World Cup as it's one thing that the Three
01:57 Lions haven't quite figured out as of yet.
02:01 There's that element and the noise from outside of the changing room, that sort of thing that
02:06 are going on, of course you just start to question sometimes, especially if you're not
02:10 playing so well, of course you do. But you deal with these sort of anxieties and these
02:14 problems on many occasions and you know what to do. It's up to the individuals, with our
02:21 help as coaches, to get the best out of them and get themselves into the right frame of
02:25 mind. That's all you can try and do, you can only keep going into the middle, keep going
02:29 into the nets and doing the right things and eventually that falls back into place. There
02:35 are challenging times, we know that and selection always brings that little bit of something
02:39 so just keep pushing them, give them that opportunity. That's what we'll do from our
02:44 point of view, support them as much as we can do and give them every opportunity and
02:48 leave the rest either for them to go out and score runs or for the selectors to do what
02:52 they want to do after that.
02:54 There you have it, an insight into how international sides prepare to go head to head over an extremely
03:00 few busy months on the cricketing calendar.
