00:00 Karina, you've literally molded the modern avatar of the heroine, okay?
00:05 You've been a game changer, you've done many, many firsts in life.
00:10 How does it feel to be debuting all over again, this time with Netflix?
00:14 What has changed? How does it feel?
00:18 Karina - I think I'm more nervous than what I was twenty-three years ago.
00:23 You've got to be kidding me.
00:24 Karina - Yeah, for the first time because
00:26 I just feel like I was watching the promo even so closely on a television screen.
00:32 So, you know, people watching me so, so close, you know, in their homes,
00:37 I think it's, I don't know, I'm obviously nervous but
00:41 I know one thing for sure that we all have worked really hard.
00:45 Of course, every actor in whichever film works really hard.
00:48 But I think Sujoy's made a fantastic film because I believe in him.
00:52 We've been wanting to work together for I think over a decade and it's just happened.
00:59 And it happened thanks to, you know, my dearest friend Jaiyu
01:04 who's made this film along with Akshay,
01:07 who had this idea actually when we were shooting Bhoot Police
01:10 and it just came up that, you know, why don't we make the book?
01:13 And I was actually pregnant with Jai at that time and we were in Dharamshala
01:18 and I was like, it was such a lovely idea.
01:21 And it just, you know, everything just fell together and when Jaiyu came to me
01:26 and he said that, "Okay, we're doing the film."
01:28 And Sujoy is very excited because he's been, you know, he's been with the script.
01:32 And I said, "Why don't we do it for Netflix?"
01:36 Because, you know, everyone's doing so much work on Netflix and it's so good
01:39 and I, you know, I don't want to be left behind, I want to do it.
01:42 And he was like, "Yeah, yeah."
01:43 And then obviously he was like, you know, he threw some actors' names
01:50 and he was like, "Yeah, whatever."
01:51 And then I was like, "Listen, you know, I just…
01:53 I want to work with, you know, some really amazing actors."
01:57 - Unusual choices for you. - Yeah, just something.
01:59 I said, "You know, somebody that I can, you know, I just, you know,
02:02 add some sort of freshness, some… I can learn from."
02:06 And then he was like, "Yeah, yeah."
02:07 And then he came back and he was like, "You know, I think Jaideep would be amazing
02:12 for the professor's role and Vijay for this part."
02:16 - That's a dream cast right there. - And I was like,
02:18 I just didn't even think for a second.
02:21 I was like, "This is… this is it.
02:24 I want to do this, I want to work with them, I want to learn from them."
02:28 And I can't thank both of them enough for just, you know,
02:32 just being so amazing that I would sometimes just be like in the middle of the shot,
02:35 be looking at them like and forgetting actually my lines.
02:38 And I've never done that with any actors ever
02:41 because I think they're just so natural.
02:43 So I think it's been like a, you know, it's just meant to be.
02:47 And Netflix, I think, so amazing for making this project
02:51 and giving us the opportunity to tell this beautiful story with a lot of fog.
