00:00 Red plate vehicles are not allowed to pass through EDSA passways.
00:04 This is also followed by complaints received by the Department of Transportation.
00:09 Karen Villanda reports.
00:11 In the daily driving of the judge on the passways,
00:17 it's easy for him to have a red plate or a car that the government is entering a special lane.
00:22 But every time he sees one of these,
00:26 he admits that they are being gathered inside the passways, especially in traffic lights.
00:30 It's like the red plates are lined up because they can't pass through.
00:34 We're all the same, right, Kavante?
00:35 In the new memorandum of the Department of Transportation,
00:39 government vehicles will only be limited to pass through the passways.
00:43 Only law enforcement units and emergency service vehicles will be allowed to pass through here,
00:48 such as ambulances, firefighters, police cars, and other law enforcement service vehicles.
00:55 Following the complaints of red plate vehicles passing through the passways,
00:59 even though there is no emergency and it's not a marked vehicle,
01:02 and government employees driving private cars,
01:05 private vehicles that are convoys of ambulances are also not allowed to pass through the passways.
01:10 We are now considering that because the government vehicles that we are talking about
01:16 are law enforcement and emergency vehicles.
01:20 Actually, the Department of Transportation issued a notice,
01:27 especially regarding our agencies in the Department of Transportation and the attached agencies.
01:35 I also reported that it is being noticed that even though it's a red plate vehicle,
01:42 it can pass through our EDSA bus carousel.
01:46 It's not allowed. If it's not an emergency, we will discuss and issue a notice.
01:53 If it's not allowed, we will really catch it.
01:55 According to the Interagency Council for Traffic,
01:58 372 motorists have already passed through the passways this August,
02:03 including government employees driving private vehicles.
02:06 The fine is P1,000 for unauthorized motorists passing through the EDSA bus carousel.
02:13 But every fine has a demerit point in the LTO.
02:17 If it reaches 40 demerit points, it can be revoked or your driver's license can be recovered.
02:27 The public is asking the IAC to take pictures of government vehicles
02:32 that are not authorized to pass through the passways and bring them to the LTO.
02:37 Karen Villanda for Morning Show ng Bayan, Rise and Shine, Philippines.
