Chandler Morris spoke with the media after the Week One loss to Colorado
Transcript
00:00 >> Questions?
00:00 >> Jay, when you look at the two picks in the end zone, what did you see?
00:09 >> I mean, that first interception, I was late getting back.
00:15 I gotta recognize it quicker, getting back to Wiley.
00:19 And that's on me.
00:20 And then the second one, I mean, he made a great play.
00:23 We got the look that we wanted.
00:26 And he made a great play, but again, I gotta protect the football.
00:32 >> Did it ever feel like you got to any way of hammering against a rim?
00:37 >> I think so.
00:39 I mean, we obviously pre-snap penalties, we've gotta do better on and
00:44 again, protecting the ball.
00:45 And I thought there were times kind of in the first half and
00:49 also after halftime that we were in a rhythm a little bit.
00:54 And we were rolling, but we gotta keep rolling.
00:57 >> Coach Knight said that you were more excited to play through you all were.
01:05 How did you feel about that state being made there?
01:09 >> I mean, I agree.
01:10 Obviously, that's the outcome.
01:13 They came out on top, and usually the more excited football team wins the game.
01:19 And that was the case today.
01:21 We've got to go back in and reassess things and come out and
01:26 ready to work tomorrow.
01:27 [BLANK_AUDIO]
01:31 >> What did you think about the amount of play you guys today?
01:33 >> I thought we did a great job.
01:35 I mean, I thought up front we're doing a good job in the run game, especially.
01:39 And Manny was very reliable, nothing that we didn't know.
01:45 And he's always gonna do his job.
01:47 >> Was there anything Colorado showed on the defense that you guys didn't
01:52 recognize from them?
01:54 >> Not really.
01:56 I mean, they were mixing it up a little bit, but
01:59 they were bringing a little more pressure than we thought they would.
02:03 But I mean, we were prepared for it.
02:05 We knew where our hots were and where to get the ball out at, so yeah.
02:11 [BLANK_AUDIO]
02:15 >> How do you move forward from this game?
02:18 Josh was just in here, so he's got 11 more fall games left to play.
02:21 How do you process this game moving forward?
02:24 >> Yeah, I mean, like Josh said, we've got 11 more.
02:29 Obviously, we won this first one, but we've got 11 more opportunities.
02:35 And this moment's not gonna define us as a football team, and
02:40 we're gonna make sure that this is gonna refine us.
02:42 And we just gotta move forward, learn from the mistakes today.
02:47 That wasn't TCU football, that was not our standard.
02:50 And again, we just gotta go to work, and we gotta go harder than ever.
02:58 And especially me, and I promised them, and
03:02 I promised my team and coaches that I'm gonna go harder than ever.
03:06 >> Chandler, in addition to noting that you guys have 11 games left,
03:09 Josh also said the season's not over.
03:12 Is that an emotion you guys are having to contend with right now,
03:15 the idea of this one loss after everything you did accomplish last year?
03:19 Are you having to kinda contend with that thought of the season being over?
03:22 >> Yeah, I mean, obviously, you don't wanna lose.
03:25 And I mean, if you let bad thoughts take over, then bad things happen.
03:30 But we've just got to realize we've got 11 more opportunities.
03:35 And we haven't even started conference play yet, but
03:40 that football out there is not gonna cut it for conference play.
03:43 And we realize that, and we know that.
03:46 We're a mature team, but now it's definitely a different approach now.
03:52 We've got to be the more excited football team to be out there, and
03:56 we just gotta go out and execute.
03:58 >> We'll go two more questions.
04:00 [BLANK_AUDIO]
04:02 Anything else?
04:03 >> Thanks, Chandler.
04:06 We'll have Imani Bailey next.
