00:00 I was excited, especially after the first hit.
00:02 It really started to settle in.
00:04 It felt good the first hit.
00:05 The second one, not so much.
00:06 But I was excited to get out there and get going.
00:09 Yes, sir.
00:09 You guys kind of--
00:11 obviously, the offense struggles.
00:12 A great opponent.
00:12 But you really struggled as far as trying
00:14 to get the ball down the field.
00:15 I mean, I guess, kind of what wasn't working?
00:17 And just what kind of issues did you see in that?
00:20 I just felt like we came out really flat.
00:22 Didn't have a-- kind of had a tougher-- good?
00:24 Are you on it?
00:25 No, no.
00:25 OK.
00:26 Yeah, so just tough.
00:28 We didn't generally execute early on.
00:30 Had a better opportunity than-- we had the opportunity.
00:33 We just didn't execute.
00:35 And I'll take the blame for that one.
00:38 Going in next week, where instead of starting,
00:40 you'll be coming off the bench.
00:41 You won't be starting.
00:42 How do you change your mindset when you
00:43 knew this week you'd start?
00:45 I don't change it at all, actually.
00:47 I'll just go into it, ready to play whenever my name is called.
00:51 And just go from there.
00:52 Nothing changes preparation-wise.
00:54 And just ready to go.
00:56 How tough was their defense tonight?
00:58 They were pretty good.
00:59 I would say they played like the third-ranked team
01:01 in the nation, or whatever they are ranked.
01:04 They're a really good team, and big, and physical, and tough.
01:07 So I thought it was a really good matchup.
01:10 Seemed like you guys tried to open up the pass game
01:12 a little bit more in the second half.
01:14 Did you kind of like that a little bit more
01:16 when there was a little more drop back,
01:17 where you throw over the middle, try and push it downfield?
01:19 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:19 I definitely-- I liked that a little bit more.
01:21 Obviously, me being a quarterback,
01:22 I like to throw the football a little bit.
01:24 So yeah, it felt good.
01:26 It felt like we started to move the ball a little bit late.
01:29 But like I said, we just got to start off earlier.
01:31 And we can't rely on coming back whenever we're down that much.
01:36 You mentioned moving it more late.
01:38 In your eyes, what do you feel like changed for you
01:40 after you had about a 2 and 1/2 quarter
01:43 kind of stint in between outing one, outing two for you today?
01:46 Yeah, I really felt like I was seeing it pretty well
01:48 the whole time.
01:49 I just got to continue to press it down the field,
01:52 and just trust my guys.
01:52 I mean, they're on scholarship, too, just like me.
01:54 I got to trust them.
01:55 And we got to go out there and continue to make plays.
01:58 And I just felt like we did late.
02:00 We heard about your relationship with David.
02:03 How would you kind of summarize that from where you're at?
02:06 He's one of my best friends.
02:07 Yeah, we hang out pretty much every day.
02:09 We're always doing stuff together.
02:11 He's my guy.
02:12 So I'm rooting for him when he's out there.
02:14 He's rooting for me whenever I'm out there.
02:16 So it's no bad blood.
02:18 So whatever happens, we know whatever
02:19 is best for the team, we want that.
02:22 Is it tough splitting time mindset-wise?
02:24 David said it was kind of hard just getting used to--
02:27 you don't know when you're going to go in.
02:28 You don't know when you're going to come out.
02:29 Yeah, absolutely.
02:29 How is that for you?
02:30 I feel like it's tougher to get into a rhythm,
02:32 because you never know when you're going to go.
02:34 You never know when you're going to get pulled out.
02:37 I mean, obviously, like they said, hopefully here soon,
02:39 we try to--
02:41 one of us makes a jump, and we're
02:44 able to figure out who's the guy is going to be.
02:46 And we'll go from there.
02:48 But it is a little tougher.
02:50 Process-wise, do you just wait by the huddle
02:52 to see if it's you?
02:53 Or what's the mindset there?
02:55 Yeah, so they kind of tell us before.
02:57 So like, say we're sitting on the sideline, hey,
02:59 Schor's being hay-taping, you're going in.
03:01 So you have a little bit more processing time,
03:03 but you always got to be ready, because you never
03:05 know what could happen.
03:07 When you assess your own performance today,
03:10 what growth do you want to see out of yourself next week?
03:14 Just being better in the pocket, helping my O-line out, no need
03:17 to be taking sacks like I did.
03:19 I feel like they did a really good job today
03:21 in protecting me well.
03:22 I just gotta be better, get the ball out of my hand and hit spots.
