Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaks ahead of Sunday's visit of Aston Villa.
Klopp does not plan to make any late deadline day moves beyond completing a deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.
On Thursday the club agreed a £35million fee with the Bundesliga champions, and the 21-year-old is on Merseyside for a medical and to complete the paperwork.
However, despite a need for reinforcements in defence – Ibrahima Konate is injured and Virgil Van Dijk is suspended – Klopp is not expecting any more business to be done.

00:00 How pleased are you with Jürgen's medical under way?
00:20 What role do you see him filling for you?
00:23 I'm really sorry to disappoint you.
00:26 I think it's a direct answer to start with, but you cannot talk about that
00:30 because nothing really happened yet, all the decisive stuff has to happen.
00:34 So, it's Friday, right? If something happens we can talk about it on Sunday.
00:38 OK, if it is to happen, would that be the only arrival on deadline day?
00:45 LAUGHTER
00:47 Would it be the only new arrival on deadline day?
00:51 Or are you in the market for other re-appointments?
00:54 It's deadline day, so I don't want to kill the excitement of the people,
00:58 you never know.
00:59 But I'm busy today with other things.
01:05 With that in mind, is Canate fit for the weekend?
01:10 Obviously you've got Virgil suspended, and back onto transfers,
01:15 is the centre-half the next area you're looking to strengthen?
01:17 Could there be a chance you do it today?
01:19 If you could bring in a centre-half for a weekend, we would think about it.
01:24 No. We can't.
01:29 Yeah, Ibo, no, may not. May not be ready for the game.
01:33 How difficult, then, whoever plays, is it to keep Villa quiet?
01:38 Obviously the way they've started the season,
01:41 it looks like they could be a threat to the Europeans.
01:43 Definitely, definitely. They will be.
01:45 It's not a game against Burnley, I don't mean all the games,
01:53 but I watched it when it happened.
01:56 And...
01:58 Burnley was good, to be honest, but...
02:03 As a midfielder, he's a machine, counter-attack, good organised.
02:07 Everybody committed 100 per cent.
02:10 When they defend deep, then they defend deep with all.
02:14 From there they go.
02:17 I think everybody agrees, when you look at the players they brought in,
02:21 they make massively sense, have speed on the wings,
02:25 what gets up front, make in, super smart,
02:32 physical as well, but then really looking for these balls in behind,
02:36 so it's a massive game, no doubt about it.
02:41 We have to play a top game to get something out of it,
02:47 and we need Anfield as well.
02:49 That's what we have to make sure.
02:51 I know it always depends on the way we play, a little bit at least,
02:55 and we have to do our part, but I know the people are ready to do their part,
03:00 especially after last weekend.
03:02 After that is international break, so...
03:07 ..we could make a good start into, or turn it into a really good start into the season,
03:14 result-wise, but, yeah, a massive 100, 15 minutes in between now and then.
03:23 And sorry to ask once again, but just to check,
03:25 has there been any offer at all from Mo Salah as yet?
03:28 And I take it that your position, the club's position, remains the same,
03:32 regardless if an offer were to come?
03:34 The position remains the same, absolutely, no doubt about that.
03:38 We cannot... That's how it is, but, yeah, nothing else to say.
03:44 No offer?
03:45 Not as far as I know, but that doesn't mean a lot, to be honest.
03:51 Thank you.
03:52 Morning, Jürgen. Just on other team news,
03:55 just wondering about Thiago and Curtis Jones?
03:58 Yeah, Curtis is back in training fully, Thiago not.
04:02 Thiago had a little setback, started training with the team and had a little setback,
04:08 so we have to slow down there a little bit.
04:12 It's not cool for him, it's not cool for us, but it's how it is.
04:17 Yeah, I, Jürgen, Thiago will use the international break for that,
04:22 then obviously to be up to speed, I'm pretty sure.
04:26 That should be, hopefully, enough for him then, and all the rest...
04:30 Until now, all the rest is available.
04:35 What impact did last week's game have on Darwin?
04:40 Because I guess strikers obviously thrive on confidence,
04:43 what impact has that had on him?
04:45 Massive, massive, it's clear.
04:50 It's what he wants, what we want, that's exactly how it should have been,
04:55 being a massive threat.
04:57 You could, of course, see it the next day, but everybody could feel it.
05:02 This game was massive, it was, and the way it happened, all these kind of things,
05:06 it looked for a while, for 10, 20 minutes, like everything goes against us.
05:11 Not destiny, we had our hand in that, but how the boys fought out of that
05:17 was pretty impressive, so now we should try to do that with 11 players.
05:26 That would be helpful.
05:27 Jürgen, overall, without knowing what's going to happen today on deadline day,
05:34 how would you assess the business with the incomings that you've had
05:38 and the balance of the squad right now?
05:40 Have you been happy with how it's gone?
05:46 Yeah, look, it's like that...
05:49 We pretty much have to reinvent the team, the midfield is now already
05:58 and will be completely new.
06:00 Over the last few years we had to do the same with our front line,
06:05 the most stable area is obviously the last line, but now not,
06:11 because of the injuries and the suspensions.
06:14 We had to do that in a season where we didn't qualify for the Champions League,
06:20 or last year we qualified for the Champions League, but this year we didn't.
06:24 Which has a massive impact, that's how it is,
06:27 and I know people expect it to be different, but it's how it is.
06:31 So I really think we did good business, the players we brought in are really good,
06:38 they'll help the team, they'll even get better,
06:42 and I think especially for Maka and Domi, everybody could see that already,
06:47 it's a massive step, massive change in the way he used to play and the way we play,
06:54 so that obviously needs a bit of time to get there, but it's no problem.
07:00 So I really like the team, not to say I love the team,
07:07 when I look at it before we start a game, you look at the line-up,
07:11 you look at the option on the bench, we were a bit young in the last weeks,
07:15 but that is great, I think everybody loves it when Dogue is coming on,
07:19 and he's having his minutes in these kind of games,
07:23 all the boys, Stefan is back in full training...
07:27 So, yes, we got younger, but we had to, we are less experienced,
07:35 but that's normal.
07:36 But we are full of desire, and I love this team.
07:42 Jürgen, obviously in a different scenario you'd have Virgil van Dijk available,
07:49 but he's not because of the red card.
07:52 He does, however, give an opportunity if selected and if he's fit to play for Trent,
07:56 to captain the side, presumably, so a proud moment for him,
07:59 because I don't think he's ever captained Liverpool at Anfield before.
08:02 Did he ever? Oh, he did it last week, you mean?
08:07 Yeah, for me it's a bit difficult to think myself in that situation,
08:14 I was captain for a long time, not ever club like Liverpool,
08:18 but it was more work than honour, as far as I remember it.
08:24 But probably it would be a massive honour for him,
08:31 but thank God he could practice it a little bit last week,
08:37 so he's used to the different weight on the left arm, I think.
08:43 So, yeah, that's it, could happen.
08:45 And if it happens, he's ready for it, I'm sure.
08:49 How impressed were you with him last week,
08:52 the way he navigated his way through the game after that difficult start?
08:55 Yeah, super. I think a lot of people would have thought,
08:58 and I thought as well for a minute or two,
09:00 "Do we have to change him? Do we have to make that change already?"
09:05 I'm very happy that I didn't do it, and I'm even more happy how Trent got through this game,
09:12 because it is difficult. I think we all agree that everybody in the stadium,
09:18 besides the Liverpool fans, wanted him to go off as well,
09:23 like in the next situation, and I'm pretty sure it would have happened
09:27 if Trent would have given anybody the chance to do so.
09:31 So, yeah, that was a big step in his development, absolutely, to keep his calm,
09:37 to even step up in the game, because he was really in it,
09:43 he was super important in the defensive part before the first goal.
09:47 It's not a pass everybody will remember forever,
09:51 but it was a sensational pass through the lines,
09:54 Djoko, Mo, Bam, in behind, these kind of things,
09:56 or Mo, Djoko, so it was like this.
09:59 Yeah, as I said, we learned already a lot this season.
10:04 We will learn more, but we have to use as well already what we've learned so far.
10:11 Just to go back to the midfield question,
10:16 could you evaluate how the dynamic in the skill set has changed
10:20 with the midfield you have now compared to the midfield you had last time?
10:24 We will see that, it's not a natural skill set, the thing is obvious,
10:28 but we had to replace and to change the most successful midfield
10:34 in the young history of this club.
10:37 So Fabinho, Henderson, Milner, Gini Wijnaldum a few years ago,
10:45 all had big, big parts in that team,
10:50 like Naby, Oxley, they all played big parts in that midfield.
10:57 And...
10:59 ..in our best periods, I remember that you asked me the question
11:06 if we are enough of a goal threat from this midfield.
11:10 When we scored all the goals from the front line,
11:14 I think we have much more goal threat in midfield now,
11:16 that's definitely the case, but the work rate these guys put in,
11:19 the stability they gave us, that was second to none,
11:24 and that's what we have to create as well, definitely.
11:26 We will see how we do that, because we can play different systems,
11:34 we have to think about that during the season, definitely,
11:38 but we are still early in the season and we have to find...
11:41 Into the season, you do that not with 12 changes in four days,
11:45 you do that with keeping things like they are and going from there,
11:49 and that's what we do in the moment, but we will keep our eyes open,
11:52 we will see what is best for the specific line-up and then we will adapt.
11:57 But I think it's clear, we have other players we brought in,
12:02 they have real quality, young and in a super way really excited
12:10 about the opportunity of being here, so that's a cool mix.
12:14 Alexander Sheffery said yesterday that he doesn't feel the Seven Leagues
12:22 are a threat to the big clubs.
12:23 Sorry, who said that?
12:24 Alexander Sheffery.
12:25 Oh, that's our president.
12:28 He doesn't think the Seven Leagues are a threat to the big clubs in Europe
12:32 because he said that Bapin, Harlan, Donald Treat have played in Seven Leagues.
12:35 And they can play alone here, oh cool.
12:38 But your club has been more unsettled than most this summer by Seven Leagues,
12:42 because you've let two players go, you've been interested in Alisson and Mo.
12:45 Do you think Sheffery is right or do you think you're going to have to be prepared
12:47 for this to happen in January, this to happen next summer,
12:50 in terms of these clubs being your better players?
12:54 I don't know 100 per cent yet, to be honest.
13:00 But I don't think the Bapin-Harlan example is a really good one.
13:03 If you took it like that or you took it out of context, I don't know,
13:07 I didn't see what he said.
13:13 They are that young and earn already properly, that's a different thing.
13:22 But I don't know how sustainable it is, how long it will stay like that,
13:26 I don't know all these kind of things.
13:29 But I think the next two weeks will show how much of a challenge it is,
13:36 because whatever happens there, obviously, nobody can react anymore.
13:41 That's something I think UEFA or whoever should have an eye on,
13:47 to solve that, because we all have to protect the game,
13:52 and we want to, it's not a league or whatever, it's the game.
13:55 And obviously I love all my players who play now in Saudi Arabia,
14:01 and usually I would watch them but I didn't see anything yet.
14:04 So maybe you can, I don't know exactly where,
14:07 but it's not like that it distracts me now from my watching habits.
14:10 But we have to make sure that these European leagues,
14:15 and here's to UEFA boss, that they stay as strong as they are,
14:19 and for that we always can help from these kind of things,
14:24 like changing rules slightly, adapting rules, making some laws,
14:29 whatever rules which make sense.
14:32 We are all a bit surprised, still probably in that sense,
14:35 by the activity from Saudi Arabia, but it happened a lot,
14:40 and a lot of players went there, and that improves the league,
14:42 definitely in the moment it's like, "OK, I didn't watch it yet,
14:47 "but that doesn't mean I will never watch it,
14:49 "it just means so far I don't know where to find it."
14:51 And that's the situation, so I don't know where it will lead to.
14:57 But it feels rather, and more important things than that,
15:03 but rather like a threat or a concern than not, to be honest,
15:07 because I can see how we really can...
15:11 ..deny it in these specific moments.
15:18 What can we do? Say no, and then we can do that,
15:22 but the difference between the contracts here and the contracts there
15:26 is that big, that causes problems, definitely. 100 per cent.
15:34 Tottenham, thank you.
15:37 Cheers. You're welcome.
15:39 Sorry.
15:40 Thanks.
15:41 Thank you.
15:42 Thank you.
15:43 Thank you.
15:44 Thank you.
15:45 Thank you.
15:47 Thanks.
15:48 Thanks.
15:49 Thanks.
15:51 Thanks.
15:53 Thanks.
15:54 Thanks.
15:56 Thanks.
