00:03 I came out of this shelter here because I joined ballet.
00:06 I've come back to continue that program.
00:08 It's 20 years later.
00:10 I've traveled around the world performing

00:14 I was the obvious choice to mentor these kids
00:17 because I was someone who had gone through
00:19 what they're going through.
00:20 - I wanna be a dancer in a ballet.
00:23 - But going through that shelter, there's some trauma.

00:33 - We lost our home because my brother
00:40 was having heart problems.
00:41 We've been from shelter to shelter
00:43 to living in people's houses.
00:45 We, it was crazy life.
00:47 I have a crazy life.
00:48 Can't forget my lucky heart.
00:50 I protect myself to not telling people
00:53 that I live in a shelter.
00:54 If I didn't say that, they would have been like,
00:56 why do you live in a shelter?
00:58 I'm really good at dancing.
00:59 I just need more responsibility overall

01:02 - Everything about Victor reminds me of me,
01:04 but he came from public housing.
01:06 It's hard enough to make it as a dancer,
01:07 but it's even harder coming from our background.

01:12 I swung, but the teacher got in the way.
01:14 So like I kind of hit the teacher.

01:16 Working with these kids,
01:17 I've had these realizations about myself
01:19 that I didn't wanna face.
01:20 I wanna make a new dance.
01:22 It'll be the story of going from homelessness
