00:00 Dryer, sunnier, warmer weather is on the way for the weekend.
00:04 But the charts initially don't look too promising.
00:07 We've got low pressure sitting across the UK
00:09 and another one up towards the northwest.
00:11 Quite an intense one, this.
00:12 It's heading its way up towards Greenland.
00:14 And actually, that one is allowing high pressure
00:17 to topple in further south and oust the low that's
00:21 sitting across us at the moment.
00:22 And this high will bring many of us a fine weekend
00:25 and probably into the early part of next week as well.
00:28 But we're not there just yet.
00:30 We still have this low pressure sitting across us,
00:33 bringing outbreaks of rain during Thursday
00:36 and through the night.
00:36 That'll continue to track into parts of northern England
00:39 and southern Scotland.
00:41 As it bumps up against the high building in,
00:43 the weather front kind of grinds to a halt and fizzles out.
00:45 But it will bring damp and drizzly conditions
00:47 across parts of northern England first thing on Friday morning.
00:50 Further south, potential for one or two heavy showers
00:54 just to affect the far southeast of England.
00:56 Quite mild here.
00:58 It's quite warm air, temperatures
00:59 holding up in the teens.
01:00 But quite a contrast across northern Scotland,
01:03 where again on Friday morning, temperatures
01:05 well down into single figures.
01:07 So a chilly start, but we'll see some fine weather again
01:09 across northern Scotland.
01:10 Could be some morning mist and fog.
01:12 That should clear.
01:13 Another area where it's going to be a murky old start,
01:15 northern England, parts of the Midlands, East Anglia.
01:17 Quite a drab start here, misty, murky, some drizzly rain still
01:21 over northern England.
01:22 That could persist for much of the day
01:23 through parts of northeast England.
01:25 To the south, something a bit brighter.
01:27 We'll see some sunny spells, but we'll still
01:29 have the potential for some scattered,
01:32 but heavy showers during the afternoon, parts of Wales,
01:34 the Midlands, and some for southern England too.
01:37 The odd shower for northern Ireland, generally here just
01:39 dry and cloudy, with some sunny spells in northern Scotland
01:42 after that chilly start.
01:43 Temperatures back up to 20 Celsius by the afternoon.
01:46 So quite a diurnal range, as we say.
01:49 Further south, it won't be a chilly start
01:51 by the afternoon, feeling quite warm and humid, I suspect,
01:53 in the sunny spells, 22, 23 degrees.
01:56 And then we've got this cloudier zone,
01:57 where it will be quite a cool day, a very different feel
02:00 across the Pennines, for example.
02:01 Temperature's only 15 or 16 degrees here,
02:04 with that rain and drizzle on and off for much of the day.
02:06 That'll linger into the evening.
02:08 The showers further south should fade through the evening.
02:12 And many places will become dry and clear once more.
02:15 And that's how we go into the weekend,
02:17 that high pressure starting to build.
02:19 Could be quite misty and murky in some spots
02:21 again on Saturday morning.
02:22 But any mist and fog should tend to lift and clear.
02:25 Still one or two scattered showers,
02:28 but most will stay dry on Saturday,
02:30 and certainly by the afternoon, some decent spars of sunshine.
02:33 Clouding over in the far northwest,
02:35 a bit breezy here, and any sunshine
02:36 turning fairly hazy as a weather front approaches.
02:39 And as a result, it'll be coolish here.
02:41 Temperatures, though, still in the high teens.
02:43 Elsewhere, more widely over 20 Celsius.
02:45 And across the south, 23, 24, possibly 25 degrees Celsius.
02:48 Likely to be warmer still on Sunday.
