Syracuse and Colgate square off on Saturday
Transcript
00:00 Week one of the college football season is officially here and
00:03 anticipation is brewing in the Syracuse football program.
00:07 Well, for some more than others.
00:08 Head coach Dino Babers said yesterday in his press conference that
00:12 games like this actually keep him up at night and they create much more nerves
00:16 than excitement because he wants to make sure that his guys are not taking
00:21 an FCS opponent lightly.
00:22 When I talked to linebacker Marlo Wax, he said that it's one of his jobs to do so
00:27 as a captain to make sure that they are not underestimating Colgate at all.
00:31 And he knows that with them only being 45 minutes down the road,
00:35 they probably know much more about Syracuse than they could anticipate.
00:39 But recognizes that his defensive teammates will be ready both mentally and
00:43 physically for Saturday.
00:45 Quarterback Garrett Schrader says that he has a mutual respect for Colgate because
00:49 he's watched a lot of film on them, as well as them returning a lot of guys.
00:53 But the best soundbite of the entire day would have to go to tight end
00:57 Aranda Gadsden because he told me that he is envisioning every single opponent
01:01 that Syracuse plays this year as the Georgia Bulldogs or
01:04 the 2001 Miami Hurricanes or the 2019 LSU Tigers.
01:08 Griffin Della Pena, Syracuse on FM.
