00:00 Panda cubs Yi Yi and Sheng Yi are finally going home to China.
00:04 Yi Yi was born in 2018, while Sheng Yi was born in 2021.
00:09 Both cubs were supposed to have been sent back to China sooner,
00:12 but their return was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
00:16 Sheng Yi was born in May,
00:25 but the China Wildlife Conservation Association has agreed with Malaysia
00:33 to send both of these panda cubs back to China.
00:39 The pair's parents, Xing Xing and Liang Liang,
00:41 have been living in Zunigare since 2014.
00:44 They were loaned to Malaysia to commemorate 40 years of diplomatic relations
00:48 between Malaysia and China.
00:51 Xing Xing and Liang Liang also had another cub, Nuan Nuan,
00:54 which was sent back to China in 2017.
00:58 Visitors to Zunigare thronged the panda enclosure
01:00 for today's farewell ceremony for Yi Yi and Sheng Yi.
01:04 Those who spoke to FMT said they took the opportunity
01:07 to bring their children to see the pandas as they are not native to Malaysia.
01:11 However, they said they were sad to see the cubs return home.
01:15 We are sad to see the pandas return home.
01:19 If possible, they have to stay longer because we and the kids can see the pandas.
01:26 It's kind of sad, but it's a good thing also, I think,
01:29 because they are going back to their home country.
01:32 Also in attendance at the ceremony were Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yu Jing
01:37 and Malaysian Zoological Society President Zaharin Arif.
