00:00 I'm really nervous right now.
00:01 Like my heart's pounding.
00:02 - There he is.
00:05 (excited squealing)
00:07 - Let's let him run.
00:08 Point.
00:09 (laughing)
00:11 - Right on top of him.
00:12 Right on top of him.
00:13 - You got it?
00:14 - Yeah.
00:15 Come on Ram.
00:16 Come on Ram.
00:17 See him?
00:19 Oh my gosh!
00:21 This is Barstool Outdoors, presented by Hook.
00:27 What's up guys?
00:27 Welcome back to Barstool Outdoors.
00:29 Today we are in Marathon, Florida.
00:31 We're at Two Conks Charters.
00:32 Austin's our captain behind us.
00:34 We got Ramsey on the boat too.
00:35 Mikey's behind the camera.
00:37 And today's gonna be a little different.
00:38 We're gonna be tarpon fishing.
00:39 I've tarpon fished once in Miami.
00:42 And I think my biggest tarpon was like 40 pounds.
00:45 So the goal for today is to get a PB tarpon.
00:48 I know very little,
00:49 so Austin's gonna teach us a thing or two.
00:50 May and June are hot spots.
00:52 It's June here.
00:53 We're gonna get the tail end.
00:54 And I'm pretty excited.
00:55 So let's get after it.
00:57 We're just getting started.
00:59 Today we're gonna head down to Bay of Honda
01:01 to go down there
01:02 'cause the tarpon are pretty much stacked up right now.
01:04 And they're feeding on crabs.
01:06 And we already had the worm hatch,
01:08 which they go there and feed on all the palmetto worms
01:11 that hatch and start flowing through with the current.
01:14 But now they're eating crabs.
01:15 And what they're doing is they're loading up
01:17 and getting ready to go offshore and start spawning.
01:19 So we're gonna set up and see if we can get a few to bite.
01:21 So the tarpon, they're more of a sport fish, a game fish.
01:25 You know, catch and release.
01:26 If they're over 40 inches,
01:27 you can't bring them out of the water.
01:29 It's more trophy hunting than anything,
01:30 but it's really cool to get a face grab on one,
01:32 you know, get the hook out and release them.
01:34 May and June are very well, very good for tarpon.
01:37 They're boiling, they're eating, and it's pretty good.
01:39 - We don't take them out easily
01:41 'cause they're like ancient.
01:42 So what, 40 pound fish is an old fish still.
01:44 - Yeah, it's pretty old.
01:45 And a lot of times too,
01:46 is you don't wanna wear them out too much
01:48 because, you know, if you let them go
01:50 and they're not on full strength,
01:51 them sharks eat them like candy.
01:53 - So we're gonna take care of the tarpon today.
01:55 If you've never seen a tarpon before,
01:56 it's gonna be pretty fun.
01:57 And they actually jump out of the water.
01:59 So I gotta get my technique down to point and not lose them
02:01 and not let them spit the hook.
02:03 - Gotta bow down to the king.
02:05 (upbeat music)
02:07 - So these tarpon, they got really good eyesight.
02:18 They get real leader shy.
02:20 So I've actually been having to drop down to 30 pound,
02:22 which is, you know, pretty much playing with fire
02:25 'cause you'll get more bites,
02:27 but you gotta really finesse them
02:28 'cause, you know, they'll break off pretty easy
02:30 on that light leader.
02:32 - And if they're shooting to the right,
02:33 you're pulling to the left.
02:34 They're shooting to the left,
02:35 you're just pulling to the right.
02:36 - Yep, and when they go to jump,
02:37 you don't wanna pull.
02:38 You wanna give them a little bit,
02:40 but also still keep that rod bent.
02:41 That way they really don't spit it.
02:43 - Mikey was kinda telling me that like,
02:45 when they jump, some people like bow,
02:46 but like kinda do it like down.
02:48 - Yeah, down into like a little bit of angle,
02:50 but still kinda keep that bend on it
02:52 'cause it keeps that right amount of tension.
02:54 You know, that hook will stay in there.
02:55 - Okay.
02:56 - I've only been tarpon fishing one other time.
02:59 Ramsey's never caught a tarpon,
03:01 and I've heard Austin's like the best of the best.
03:04 So he's got a lot of pressure on him today.
03:06 I'm just kidding.
03:07 Not about the best of the best.
03:08 He is the best of the best,
03:09 but you get it, it's just fishing, you know?
03:12 The fish wanna bite, they're gonna bite.
03:13 They don't, they're not,
03:14 but hopefully we can land a couple today.
03:16 High hopes.
03:17 Morale's so far high.
03:19 - So you see how like these pilings
03:22 with that current ripping,
03:23 it's kinda got like a,
03:24 pretty much like a backwash
03:25 now it's like a slower current behind it.
03:27 So one piling over,
03:29 you'll see them rolling pretty heavy,
03:30 but they should start moving,
03:33 you know, over here too as well.
03:34 They kinda slowly cruise up and down.
03:38 Like the ones you see rolling out in the open,
03:40 those guys move, you know,
03:41 back and forth a lot faster.
03:43 One's closer to the bridge,
03:44 they're gonna kinda cruise back and forth a lot slower,
03:47 but they're rolling one hole over.
03:49 So yeah, here they go, they're getting closer.
03:50 - Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!
03:52 - That's sick.
03:53 - That's so sick.
03:55 - Wait.
03:56 - You can slowly feed it out there.
04:07 - Okay.
04:08 - And then, so these,
04:09 if you start reeling that bail's not gonna close,
04:11 so you gotta manually close it.
04:12 - Okay.
04:14 - Once it goes missing,
04:15 just start winding like crazy
04:18 and we're gonna let go of that anchor
04:19 and we're gonna chase them down.
04:21 - I'm really nervous right now.
04:23 Like my heart's pounding.
04:24 That was so cool.
04:26 That was so cool.
04:27 So we put a crab on,
04:29 we got a crab as bait,
04:30 and that essentially,
04:31 what you see in the water is like a bobber,
04:32 so when that goes down,
04:33 I'm gonna close the bail and then reel
04:36 and try not to set the hook.
04:37 I have a bad habit of doing that
04:38 'cause I'm a freshwater fisherman
04:40 and just gonna reel right down onto it
04:43 and then what the, you know,
04:44 tarpon fishermen say is bow to it
04:47 and not let the line get slack
04:52 and try to reel it in.
04:53 I'm a little nervous.
04:54 I know it is like kinda hard
04:56 to make sure it doesn't spit
04:57 and make sure everything goes right,
04:59 but I think I can get it.
05:01 I'm just really excited right now.
05:04 It was really, really cool to see them roll.
05:05 I've never seen that happen.
05:06 Last time I did this was under the lights,
05:08 so I was able to see the tarpon
05:10 and actually watch them bite my bait
05:13 and this is a whole new experience.
05:16 - So with that float being in that slow current,
05:20 you just wanna maintain that line
05:22 'cause if your pretty much main part of the line
05:24 gets in that faster current,
05:26 there's gonna be a big bow and a lot of extra line.
05:29 This is gonna be tricky 'cause we got that wind coming out,
05:31 the wind against current, so.
05:33 - Is that bad?
05:38 - No, you're good. - Great, okay.
05:41 - Put that in your BKK magazine.
05:50 So the main line, I'm using 40 pound Power Pro.
05:54 It's stronger than what it's rated for.
05:57 You know, the leader, using 30 pound
06:00 and the hook, I'm using the BKK.
06:03 I go anywhere from six ought to seven ought.
06:07 Haven't had one straighten, break, nothing.
06:09 The reason why those tarpon are rolling,
06:11 they need more oxygen than what's in the water,
06:13 so they're coming up, you know, gulping, going down.
06:16 So that's why they roll quite a bit.
06:19 - They're air-breathing. - Yeah.
06:21 - Yeah, they're also dinosaurs, right?
06:26 - Pretty much.
06:27 - Is this your main place you fish at?
06:35 Is there a reason why they're actually here?
06:37 - On this bridge, a lot of times you get these crabs
06:39 floating through the current,
06:40 so I kinda call it lazy fishing.
06:43 They just hang in that current,
06:44 and when those crabs kinda float in front of them,
06:46 they eat 'em.
06:47 This part of the bridge we're at,
06:48 it's kinda like the little deeper part of the channel,
06:51 so they'll kinda stack up in here.
06:53 Every now and then you'll see 'em
06:54 in that shallower stuff on the ends,
06:57 but in this deeper area,
06:58 that's kinda where they more pack in.
07:00 - Why, is their main predator a shark?
07:04 - Yeah.
07:05 I mean, we've had days where the sharks are so bad,
07:09 and luckily this past season, and not too much of it,
07:12 I mean, they'll eat an 80 pound tarpon
07:15 in two or three bites.
07:17 - Dang.
07:17 - Dude, I didn't know the Goliath group would eat sharks.
07:20 I guess I'm just naive,
07:23 but the Goliath were trying to eat the sharks
07:25 while we were in there, that was sick.
07:27 - Oh, shit.
07:31 - Oh wait, now we're good, I think.
07:34 - There he is.
07:36 (Kelsey screams)
07:38 - GoPro, everybody.
07:39 Okay, okay, just keep reeling?
07:43 You gotta coach me, Austin.
07:45 (Kelsey screams)
07:47 - Can I just let him run?
07:50 Point, I pointed.
07:52 Point.
07:55 Austin, you gotta coach me here.
07:59 - You're good, so what I'm gonna do,
08:00 I'm gonna back down, I'm gonna spin the boat,
08:01 and I'll get you up on that stool.
08:03 - Okay, I'm nervous, where's he at?
08:05 (Kelsey screams)
08:07 Am I good?
08:08 Should I move?
08:09 Oh, oh, I mean, shoot.
08:10 - Now you can keep that rod up and bent.
08:13 - Up?
08:14 - You can keep that rod up and bent,
08:15 just when he jumps, that's when you wanna keep it low.
08:18 - Okay.
08:19 - So you lift up, reel down.
08:21 - All right, so pump him?
08:22 - Yep, nice and smooth.
08:25 - How's it look, Austin?
08:36 How are my pumping actions?
08:39 My heart's pounding.
08:43 It's actually like, pounding.
08:44 So we're getting closer to it.
08:45 I pointed the rod, so he didn't get off.
08:50 I'm actually kinda shaking.
08:52 Oh, I see the bobber.
08:54 - There's the bobber, he's coming.
08:55 Oh, there he is.
08:56 (bobber growls)
08:59 Did he spit it?
09:02 - Yeah.
09:12 - The line broke.
09:14 Hook's off.
09:15 What did I do?
09:15 - Nothing wrong, nothing wrong.
09:17 What could've happened too is,
09:19 you know, they make that wrong turn.
09:21 Sometimes they get under their gill plate.
09:23 - Yeah.
09:23 - And they pop it off.
09:25 - Is that why you think it broke off?
09:26 - Yeah, I mean, you did everything right.
09:28 He jumped, you know, you can tell he didn't just spit it,
09:30 you know, and it's kind of almost like a clean cut, but.
09:34 - Frickin' balls.
09:36 Gosh darn it, I'm shaking.
09:39 - We'll get another one, we'll get another one.
09:42 - How big do you think that was?
09:43 - I'd say, man, what do you think?
09:48 - I would say 80 pounds, yeah.
09:52 - Yeah, I'd say 60 to 80.
09:53 - So is that like?
09:54 - That's a good one, we'll get another bite.
09:57 - I'm shaking.
09:59 - You did good.
10:00 - Gosh darn it.
10:00 Did I do good on my pumping?
10:03 - You did everything perfect.
10:04 - I've been practicing my pumping.
10:05 - You did nothing wrong.
10:07 - I bowed there.
10:08 - You bowed on it.
10:10 - You had him.
10:12 - So it's the name of the game, wild average.
10:15 You know, all we can do now is go do it again.
10:17 We'll get another bite.
10:18 - Wait, that was so cool.
10:19 Did you get the video of him out of the water?
10:21 Gosh, I'm so upset.
10:26 I'm glad he broke off.
10:27 If he would have spit it, I would have probably just cried.
10:30 We just watched that bobber kind of like go down quickly
10:32 and then Austin's like, hey, he's just going real.
10:33 - I think what he did is he just ate and sat on it.
10:35 That little bounce lets you know that he ate it.
10:37 Most of the time, you know, they'll go down
10:39 and he'll be sat on it and didn't even know he was hooked.
10:42 - That was so awesome.
10:45 I'm really upset though.
10:47 It's okay.
10:48 It's fishing.
10:49 Just gotta work myself up.
10:50 Here we go.
10:50 It is what it is.
10:51 We did what we had to do.
10:52 We shot, we not shot it.
10:54 We caught it.
10:55 You know, we got some hooks into him.
10:56 They got off, but it was cool.
10:58 It was epic to see him jumpy jump three times.
11:00 - Call it an LDR, long distance release.
11:04 - Yeah, LDR.
11:04 LDR.
11:06 Damn, damn, damn.
11:08 - We'll get it done.
11:09 - Yeah, you did everything perfect.
11:11 - That was so sick.
11:13 Now Ramsey has the pull this time.
11:15 So he's gonna try to land on the tarpon.
11:18 What do you think?
11:21 - See how it goes.
11:22 - Hooking fish, not necessarily bringing them to the boat
11:27 yet, but it's gonna happen.
11:28 And Austin did say, what, every like one out of five tarpon
11:32 you usually land?
11:33 - Yeah, so for, they basically said for every five you hook
11:35 you're gonna land one.
11:38 - One for two here?
11:39 - One for two.
11:40 50/50 shot.
11:41 - 50/50 shot.
11:42 Okay, he's got high hopes over there.
11:45 I feel like Ramsey, it's gonna be tough for him to bow to.
11:49 They have no words, like it.
11:55 We'll see how it goes.
11:56 - I believe she said you're a bad listener.
12:01 I think you guys got some stuff to work out.
12:03 - Oh crap.
12:07 - You got one?
12:08 - Waterboarding my crab.
12:11 (humming)
12:16 While you were jacking off,
12:27 one went right in front of your face.
12:29 Schmuck.
12:36 - For real?
12:37 Did you not see it?
12:43 - I saw it, I tried to flip the bail.
12:45 - I couldn't form words.
12:48 I went under.
12:49 I saw it happen.
12:50 - I bailed, started to reel in, and I see it.
12:52 He was gone.
12:53 - Oh, dog.
12:57 Wow.
12:58 Well, I'm guessing he got bit,
13:02 but I mean, the crab looks fine.
13:04 I don't know what happened,
13:05 but I did see his actual bobber go down under.
13:10 - Completely.
13:11 - I couldn't form words.
13:12 I was trying to get everybody's attention,
13:13 and his attention.
13:14 - Like I said, gotta be the windshield.
13:21 Keep the windshield mentality.
13:24 Can't get down.
13:25 - Dog, did you see it go down?
13:26 - Yes, I saw it go down.
13:27 - He was a slow poke.
13:28 (laughing)
13:30 - Watch out, Ramsey.
13:41 He's running, he's running.
13:45 He might jump.
13:46 Here we go.
13:53 (dramatic music)
13:56 Holy shit.
14:04 Okay, I can't breathe a little bit.
14:09 I think I'm gonna go to the gym more often.
14:11 Right underneath.
14:14 Holy cow.
14:15 Okay, come on, baby.
14:17 I see the pink.
14:19 He's running again.
14:22 - So typically, IGFA rules,
14:25 as soon as you grab that leader,
14:26 or if you reel it through the eyes of the rod,
14:29 it's technically a caught fish.
14:31 It's a lot cooler when you get a face grab on him.
14:34 - I would love to get a face grab on him.
14:36 I see the leader.
14:41 Holy shit.
14:45 Oh my God.
14:49 He jumped once, and usually when they jump,
14:50 it definitely tires them out.
14:52 And I can tell he's starting to give up a little bit.
14:54 I'm to the leader, but we'd like to get him up on the boat.
14:56 We'll keep him in the water if we do.
14:58 Here we go.
14:59 There he is.
15:03 - You got that leader through the eye.
15:06 That's an official catch.
15:08 - Holy cow, what a chase.
15:09 This is insanity.
15:11 Oh.
15:13 Oh.
15:18 There he goes.
15:21 (water splashing)
15:22 You know what?
15:24 That's okay.
15:24 - That was a caught fish.
15:26 - The hook came out, he probably broke it off.
15:28 He broke it off again, you know?
15:29 But, hey, I caught that fish multiple times.
15:32 These guys are tough and have a lot of energy,
15:34 and I'm tired too.
15:35 Dang it, we were so close.
15:37 Shoot, that was awesome.
15:39 That was beautiful.
15:41 So we landed a fish.
15:42 So compared to other tarpon,
15:43 like what, was he like an average size?
15:45 Or what do you think?
15:46 - That was about an average size one.
15:46 - An average size one, which, that was awesome.
15:49 That was so fun.
15:50 I'm so like, I'm not like really bummed.
15:52 I would like to see him up close, but I don't really care.
15:54 I just wanted to land him.
15:56 And I'm happy when he jumps that I didn't lose him.
15:59 He's finished with the hook.
16:00 He just broke off again,
16:01 probably got on that gill plate,
16:02 or either one just popped off.
16:03 Ramsey was casting on the side of the boat,
16:05 and I was casting the other side.
16:07 And I'm like, ah, I want to go on the other side really quick
16:09 so I just cast it over his head.
16:11 And he drifted, he drifted his crab,
16:14 and then I drifted a little bit further behind.
16:16 And I was almost touching his line,
16:19 and it went under and I shook the bail really quick,
16:22 and I reeled in.
16:23 But I don't think the tarpon realized he was hooked,
16:26 and I didn't realize I hooked him.
16:27 I thought I got his line.
16:28 And then he started reeling in.
16:29 I reeled at the same time really fast, and it was a fish.
16:32 Oh my gosh.
16:33 - Right out from under my nose.
16:35 - Good thing I'm wearing my hook SPF too,
16:37 because I'm sweating, but you can't see it.
16:39 So that's good because they dry.
16:41 I don't think you can see it.
16:42 I'm sweaty and smelly, but it's okay.
16:45 Towards the end there, he still was aggressively swimming,
16:49 so he still had a lot of energy in him.
16:51 Would've had a little bit longer of a fight,
16:53 but that was a very aggressive, strong tarpon.
16:56 We got the catch on him,
16:58 but bring it back around, do it again.
17:00 (upbeat music)
17:03 - It's little, but I got him.
17:05 Sorry, Randy, I love you a lot.
17:13 - Hey, it makes you feel better, it's not very big.
17:15 I caught him.
17:27 - Oh, it's a snook.
17:42 - Oh, it's a snook.
17:44 - That was a high jump for a snook.
17:46 - Sweetness.
17:47 Sorry, coming, coming, coming.
17:49 I've never caught a snook before.
17:53 Not what we're targeting, but I got one.
17:55 I thought it was a little tarpon.
17:56 - Oh, he jumped high for a snook.
17:58 - He jumped high.
17:59 I have a snook trip book,
18:01 but I guess I don't need to go on it.
18:03 Just kidding.
18:04 Tell me a little bit about snook, Austin,
18:06 'cause I don't know a whole lot.
18:07 - So these snook, I mean,
18:09 they do load up here on the bridge.
18:10 I get more of them in the wintertime,
18:12 but these guys, they school up pretty good.
18:15 - Yeah, typically I get them on live penfish or pilchards.
18:18 That's crazy, you ate a crab.
18:19 - That's a small one, right?
18:21 - For down here, it's a good one.
18:24 - Okay, so I should get a picture with it.
18:25 - Yeah, definitely, yeah.
18:27 - Dude, that's sick.
18:28 I'm more excited about that than a small tarpon.
18:30 - My first ever snook by accident.
18:32 We're not targeting these guys.
18:34 I've been told this is a nice size snook.
18:37 My first ever snook, actually.
18:39 He bit a crab.
18:40 That bobber went down, I reeled in.
18:42 I thought it was a little tarpon.
18:43 He jumped beautifully for us.
18:45 Here he is, we're gonna throw him right back in the water.
18:47 Another sport fish.
18:48 You ready?
18:50 There he goes.
19:00 Three fish.
19:03 Austin, the best.
19:06 - That was sick.
19:07 - Who catches a snook on accident with a crab?
19:09 I don't really know the ratio there,
19:11 but I'm guessing it's rare.
19:11 - When I only caught a quarter of my eye
19:13 and I didn't really see what it was,
19:14 but when I seen the height of the jump,
19:16 I was like, "Yeah, that's a little tarpon."
19:17 - I think a little tarpon.
19:18 - Yeah, he came up and I was like, "Ah, that is a..."
19:21 - Rimsky with like,
19:22 foul language in his head, I bet.
19:26 - Two times in a row.
19:29 - Snooze you lose, I guess.
19:31 All right, keep going.
19:38 - I don't know, but he came after it.
19:40 - Nice snook.
19:41 - Aw, the snook.
19:43 That was my fault.
19:46 I don't think I let him eat it all the way.
19:48 He got it.
19:49 - They're packed up right there.
19:51 That was a nice snook.
19:52 - I thought it was a jumbo.
19:56 - I don't know what it is.
20:00 Aw, what the...
20:07 - It's gotta be the hook.
20:09 (dramatic music)
20:12 - He's going to the boat, he's going to the boat,
20:17 he's going to the water.
20:19 He already went to the leader.
20:24 (water splashing)
20:26 Shit.
20:31 It broke.
20:36 - That was wild.
20:37 - He was big.
20:41 - That was a big one.
20:42 - How big was that?
20:43 - He think he was pushing, yeah, say 90, 100.
20:49 - He broke again.
20:53 What do I do?
20:54 - Well, it's...
20:55 - Cry?
20:56 Okay, I just want to let everybody know,
20:58 I'm not going to count it, but I did get to the leader.
21:01 - That's a catch.
21:02 - It's a catch?
21:03 - That's a catch.
21:04 - He ran right at us.
21:05 - It was like a 10 second...
21:07 - I was scared that he was going to jump in the boat,
21:08 he was right there.
21:10 - That would have been a lot cooler.
21:11 - That was scary.
21:12 - That thing, I mean, hell, that's where it broke,
21:16 but that chafing is running all the way up here.
21:21 He was rubbing on it pretty good.
21:25 - What, a couple of three feet?
21:27 Two feet?
21:28 - Same out, yeah, about two feet up.
21:30 When he jumped, I said some words
21:32 that you can't say on camera.
21:35 So I said it in my head when I realized how big he was.
21:38 So, I had to keep it to myself.
21:41 - And Ramsey is still after it.
21:48 - It'll happen.
21:50 - It'll happen.
21:51 - The tarpon is sort of rolling,
21:52 but unfortunately we've used all the crabs
21:55 and the other ones are worn out or dead.
21:57 We need live crabs.
21:59 Live bait looks more tastier.
22:00 So we're going to run back into town, grab some crabs,
22:05 take a quick break, chart some things up,
22:06 and then come back after it.
22:08 We've caught three.
22:09 We've landed two.
22:11 Yeah, we've landed two because they hit the leader.
22:13 Lost one.
22:14 Got a snook.
22:15 Ramsey still has to land his first tarpon,
22:18 but we're having a hell of a time already.
22:20 We're having a heck of a time so far,
22:22 and we're just getting started.
22:23 We have an afternoon bite that we're going to try to hit,
22:26 and hopefully we can land another tarpon.
22:28 We'll find out with some fish.
22:29 So, they want to eat, they're going to eat.
22:31 If they don't, they're not.
22:33 Ran through them pretty good, so we figured
22:36 they're still rolling, they're still biting
22:37 and doing their thing, so get some more and get back at it.
22:40 So we got the boat, got in the trucks,
22:43 ran into two Kongs bait and tackle here in Marathon,
22:46 loaded up on some crabs, and then we're going to hit
22:48 the afternoon bite.
22:50 The tarpon are still rolling, so we're not going to leave fish
22:52 to find new fish.
22:53 We're going to stay where we're at
22:55 and get some fresh, live, tasty bait.
23:03 - He ate it.
23:04 - Talk about a transition.
23:11 Here we go, here we go, get ready.
23:15 He's in the bridge.
23:18 Here we go.
23:22 It's getting western.
23:25 I see the leader.
23:26 He jumped twice.
23:28 All right, he's right down below.
23:32 He's getting away from the bridge, this is good.
23:33 - If you want, you can hop to that front.
23:35 - Hop to the front?
23:36 - Yep.
23:36 - Okay.
23:37 We had to switch up positions.
23:38 Here's the leader because of the tide, low tide.
23:41 We had to face the bridge.
23:43 All right, here we go, he's to the left.
23:45 He's coming under the boat.
23:47 Here's that leader.
23:47 So he's officially been caught now.
23:51 Leader's been through the islets,
23:53 but we want to get in here to the boat.
23:56 Now he's going back out.
24:01 He's going back out.
24:02 We're going to try to get him outside
24:07 of underneath the bridge, out into the open
24:09 so nothing can go wrong.
24:10 But he's officially been caught, now he's just running.
24:13 Watch him.
24:14 - That was sick.
24:21 - He jumped four times now,
24:25 so he's probably starting to wear out a little bit.
24:28 I'm trying to pull away from him,
24:30 which way he wants to go, just wear him out.
24:33 It does wear myself out too, but he's getting worn out.
24:36 I can already tell.
24:37 I can see him down there.
24:39 Let's see if we can actually get this one close.
24:42 There he is.
24:43 Here he is.
24:48 That wore him out.
24:55 So when I'm going down, when he jumps,
24:57 I'm trying to keep that rod tip down
24:59 'cause he's trying to split the hook.
25:02 It's called bowing.
25:03 I'm also, if he's swimming to my right,
25:07 I'm trying to go to the left a little bit.
25:09 - Looks like he's tiring out.
25:10 - Yeah.
25:11 Here he is.
25:16 Bring him to you.
25:21 All right.
25:28 Oh my gosh.
25:29 What a beautiful fish, guys.
25:35 Wow.
25:36 Oh my gosh.
25:43 Holy cow.
25:45 Wow.
25:47 Look at that beautiful fish.
25:50 Holy cow.
25:51 We've seen multiple types of charpin today,
25:55 different kinds of sizes.
25:56 I would say, what, this is a probably average size you see.
25:59 We've hooked into a bigger one.
26:01 We landed it, but we didn't get him close
26:03 and personal to the boat, but that's a beauty.
26:05 Let's check him out.
26:06 - Right on the button.
26:07 - Right on the button.
26:09 Look at that, look at that hook.
26:11 Deep in the front.
26:12 Oh my gosh.
26:13 Wow.
26:15 Oh my gosh.
26:18 Look at that beauty.
26:20 Oh my gosh.
26:24 And their mouth is hard as can be.
26:27 It's hard to hook into them.
26:29 It's easy for them to spit out such a small circle hook,
26:32 but that was beautiful.
26:34 He put on a show for us.
26:36 Now you can tell why watching this video
26:37 is why they're such a magnificent sports fish
26:40 while everybody wants to try to catch them
26:42 because it's hard to land them.
26:43 We're not going to keep him out of the water too long.
26:45 We want to get him back,
26:46 but we're going to snap some pictures up close and personal.
26:48 And this isn't even like a giant.
26:50 This is a nice size one though.
26:51 - Gotcha.
26:53 (water splashing)
26:56 - Like now?
26:59 - Yeah, you can go.
27:01 There he goes.
27:02 - What the heck?
27:03 You're like, you said, okay, ready.
27:05 And hit the bait.
27:08 That was great.
27:09 That was nice stage everybody.
27:10 We were doing a transition from the crabs,
27:13 like getting the crabs to, hey, we're at the spot again.
27:15 Cause we're at the spot in the afternoon.
27:17 We just got the crabs.
27:18 We're fishing a different tide
27:19 on the other side of the bridge.
27:21 And voila, we found the turpin.
27:24 All right, come on Ram.
27:25 - I think he got on the piling.
27:30 - He off?
27:32 - Yeah, he went for that piling.
27:34 You'll get him.
27:41 - So Ramsey's been hit twice.
27:43 First time he didn't, wasn't able to,
27:46 it was just really fast, spit him right out.
27:47 And then this time.
27:48 - I had it tight, it just popped.
27:51 Ran into the piling.
27:52 Snap me off.
27:55 - Right on top of him, right on top of him.
28:03 Going back to the right, back to the right.
28:05 - Really start working on, tighten that drag a lot.
28:08 Did he go in there?
28:10 Now it's up to you if you want to hop on that piling.
28:13 - Ramsey, you're going to hop on the piling.
28:14 Oh, he just jumped to another side.
28:17 Okay, so he's going to hop on the piling, I think.
28:20 Oh, he's coming back, he's coming back.
28:21 Go forward.
28:22 - Hop on the bridge and she can hop on the bridge too.
28:26 Then just lay down and pass it around.
28:29 - You got it?
28:30 - Yeah.
28:31 Come on Ram, come on Ram.
28:41 See him?
28:43 We got to do a little switch off.
28:48 - Sorry, I didn't know what was going on.
28:50 - She's like, I was like, you either got to go one way or the other.
28:52 - She's like, I'm going to keep going.
28:53 - You know what, I don't even want to say, come on, I helped you out.
28:56 - Oh no, that's freaking awesome.
28:58 At one point I was like, wait, what are we even doing?
29:00 - You know what, just concentrate.
29:02 Whoa, look at him.
29:04 And now it's going to come up.
29:05 - Remember when Bobby Boucher came back at halftime
29:09 and the mud dogs won the bourbon bowl?
29:10 Yeah, do you?
29:11 - Wow.
29:14 Amazing.
29:16 - Yeah.
29:17 - Nice.
29:18 (water splashing)
29:21 - Let's go.
29:23 - Dude, you did it.
29:25 I'm so proud of you.
29:34 Oh my God.
29:34 - It's all good.
29:35 - Hell yeah.
29:36 - Hell yeah.
29:38 Hey, you said, the crab's the one.
29:40 - Hey.
29:41 - The crab was the one.
29:42 Morale was a little shmedium for him.
29:44 We said, come on buttercup, get back up there.
29:46 - The way everything played out.
29:48 - That was sick.
29:49 - Got him?
29:51 - Yep.
29:52 - Hold on tight.
29:53 - Oh my gosh, he looks like a behemoth right here.
29:55 How do you feel?
30:00 - This is freaking awesome.
30:02 - Are you so excited or what?
30:03 - I'm so stoked right now.
30:05 - What were your initial thoughts
30:07 when you were going under that pylon?
30:08 - I kind of thought it was over.
30:11 He took off right between the two
30:13 and he was like, open the bail, jump on the pylon.
30:15 I was like, you want me to open the bail?
30:17 Open the bail, jump on the pylon.
30:18 Sid and I had a little like,
30:19 what do we do moment when we got up there.
30:21 - A little dusty dove.
30:22 - I don't know what to do with my hands.
30:23 - Yeah, got up there, line was a little hung,
30:26 got it unhung, jumped back on the boat.
30:28 Continued to fight him for a while.
30:32 But God, these fish are awesome.
30:35 (upbeat music)
30:37 - It's in the hole.
30:53 - It's like one of those things you keep looking at it,
30:55 but it hurts.
30:56 (laughing)
30:58 [WHOOSH]
