00:00 you like me are looking forward to tonight in the Bronx
00:05 with the Yankees going for 10 in a row, George,
00:08 a big 10 in a row, first time in over 100 years.
00:12 When you can accomplish something for the first time
00:14 in over 100 years, you just gotta go out and do it, George.
00:17 I hope the Yankees get that big 10 tonight.
00:20 - What is this, like 1912 or something like that,
00:24 a less than 10 game losing streak?
00:26 It's great, we went to 95 with the eight,
00:29 now we're at 82 with the nine game,
00:31 now we're at 1912 here, just depressing.
00:33 I mean, what, they had two hits last night,
00:35 both by Ben Roortvet, yeah,
00:38 a household name there, Ben Roortvet.
00:40 I have no faith in them, I mean, no faith at all.
00:43 I assume they'll get the 10.
00:44 You know, Severino's pitching tonight,
00:46 so, but hey, it's just, ah, forget it.
00:48 - And he had two hits last night, the only two hits,
00:54 and then he's not in the lineup tonight.
00:55 So the one guy who had two hits isn't playing tonight,
00:59 so, and we're not gonna spend the whole time in the Yankees
01:02 'cause honestly, me and Pharrell beat them up so much,
01:04 people are probably just completely sick of it.
01:06 But George, I'm at the point now,
01:10 and I've been down on him for years.
01:11 I have never liked Boone, I thought that Cashman
01:15 has done a bad job in off seasons the last few years,
01:18 you know, trying to change the team.
01:20 He never changed the team, he just kept going back
01:22 with the same stale bread year after year,
01:25 and then they would blame injuries at the end of the year
01:27 when they would lose, and they're trying to already
01:29 set that up this year.
01:30 I saw Boone do an interview yesterday where he was like,
01:32 well, you know, we just never really were able to
01:34 recover from some of the injuries that we had,
01:36 and I'm tired of that nonsense, George,
01:38 and at this point, I wanna see them go out
01:42 as embarrassing as they possibly can
01:45 over the last five weeks, six weeks of this season.
01:48 I wanna be so embarrassing that Hal is forced
01:52 to have to do something significant,
01:54 'cause he doesn't want to.
01:55 He doesn't wanna actually do some work,
01:57 'cause if he fires Cashman, he's gotta do work.
01:59 Cashman runs his whole operation right now,
02:01 he doesn't wanna have to do that,
02:03 but here's what will change his mind, George.
02:05 For the first time in probably 30 years,
02:08 it's gonna be potentially a very empty Yankee Stadium
02:12 in September, and they haven't had that,
02:14 'cause even in the years where they weren't that great,
02:16 2008, you had, you know, the last year of the old stadium,
02:19 so even though they weren't that great,
02:20 people were gonna come out for the novelty.
02:23 You know, 12, 13, 14, Mariano and Jeter retired,
02:26 people coming out for the novelty.
02:28 You don't got that this year, George,
02:30 and I'm interested to see people stay home
02:32 with this awful Yankee team.
02:34 - Oh, you're right, this'll be the worst September
02:35 they've had since what, '92, '91?
02:38 You know, the Mel Hall years for the Yankees
02:40 are what you're talking about there.
02:42 So yeah, it would be an apathy.
02:43 If the fans have to get apathetic,
02:45 but they just don't care, that would have to wake up
02:48 Steinbrenner.
02:49 My guess is this.
02:50 I was wondering if Boone would get fired over the weekend.
02:54 Right, they lost three straight to Boston, your rival here.
02:57 I was wondering if that would be, they were off Monday,
02:59 so I was wondering if that would be it,
03:00 but now I think he'll survive the season,
03:02 even if they lose the next, I don't know, 40 games.
03:04 I think he'll survive the season,
03:06 but someone has to be made the scapegoat, right?
03:08 And that will probably be Boone.
03:10 They'll bring in somebody else,
03:11 but if it's just gonna be another puppet, you know,
03:14 that Brian Cash is doing, nothing changes.
03:17 Nothing changes here.
03:18 Cashman does need to go.
03:19 The analytics department needs to go.
03:20 They need to start from scratch here.
03:22 I don't know if that's going to happen.
03:24 I think Cash will get another year to try and fix things,
03:27 but the bottom line is this.
03:29 What are they doing?
03:30 Stanton's not going anywhere, right?
03:32 That's a huge contract.
03:34 He's stuck there.
03:35 They have so many big contracts with guys who aren't moving,
03:37 and these guys get hurt every year
03:38 that I don't really expect much to change.
03:41 Mike, how can they not have a left fielder,
03:43 a third baseman, a first baseman, and a catcher?
03:46 How can the New York Yankees not have,
03:48 I mean, it regulates at four positions.
03:50 It boggles my mind.
