00:00 Why are the WIPs so important?
00:04 The Water Resource Plan set out the rules for water extraction across the basin and
00:08 if certain areas have them and others don't, well it's not a level playing field.
00:13 The reality is Australians want fairness and equity and someone's not to get a free pass.
00:19 So WIPs allow us to do our job and hold people to account and if they're not fair we can't
00:24 do that.
00:25 So any opportunity to push that out or delay that any further is totally unacceptable from
00:31 us and I'll have people's notices to the grindstone on that issue.
00:35 But I'm confident in the NSW Water Minister's intent to get those accredited and equally
00:40 the MDBA are being held to account to accredit those plans as quickly as possible and not
00:45 look for ways not to accredit them.
00:47 Once that's all in place we can look at the effectiveness of them to make sure they are
00:51 always getting better and better and that will be a focus for the future.
