Thunderstorms will bring the risk of damaging winds and flooding downpours across part of the Great Lakes and Northeast through midweek.

00:00 Around the periphery of high pressure,
00:02 we've been chasing thunderstorms and
00:03 will chase a few more across the
00:05 upper Midwest today.
00:06 You can see some moisture here
00:08 across the UP stretching into
00:10 the mitten of Michigan,
00:11 just north of Green Bay.
00:12 Now we do have the potential to see
00:15 some spotty isolated severe weather.
00:17 We're going to keep an eye into
00:19 areas like Traverse City and Saginaw.
00:21 For some severe storms,
00:22 that's the risk in yellow here.
00:24 Those storms could include hail,
00:25 damaging gusty winds and some very
00:27 heavy rain as we look through today.
00:29 And tonight now let's time out these
00:31 storms together here on future radar
00:33 and you'll see this band as we stretch
00:35 really through the second half of the
00:37 day that moves across the UP.
00:39 It's this right here.
00:40 That area that just drives into
00:41 the mitten late this evening and
00:43 into early tomorrow morning.
00:44 And remember,
00:45 it doesn't stop once it gets to a state line,
00:48 right?
00:48 Storms never do,
00:49 and it's just going to carry here
00:51 into areas like Detroit back toward
00:53 Erie, Cleveland and Pittsburgh.
00:54 As we look to Wednesday,
00:56 so we're going to follow the severe
00:58 threat for some spotty severe storms.
01:00 Same threats here,
01:01 wind, hail and gusty or and flooding
01:03 downpours I should say as we look into
01:06 Wednesday for areas of the Ohio Valley.
01:08 Now these storms continue to push
01:10 into New England even as we move to
01:13 Thursday and Friday and even areas of
01:15 95 like New York and Washington DC.
01:17 That said,
01:18 they're not quite as potent,
01:20 at least at this point it looks like
01:22 we could have uncomfortable conditions
01:24 and perhaps some rough travel,
01:26 but overall not a very severe
01:28 dawn to dusk storm threat.
01:30 In areas like New York City,
01:32 a few showers on Thursday for New
01:33 York and a rumble of thunder Friday,
01:36 even a very isolated rumble of thunder Saturday.
01:38 But then we are back to beautiful
01:40 sunshine Sunday, Monday and Tuesday
01:41 with temperatures in the 70s.
01:43 Enjoy.
